Chapter 165
Akira's POV
I was acting calm compared to the turmoil within me. I was doing a good job, of keeping all the pain within me, for the last two days since I arrived here. Everything Roe told me about our family bloodline was something to be scared of, I didn't think that finding my family would expose me to the part where I was not just an ordinary human, my family had supernatural power and my blood was special, he also told me there is more to that blood in my vein but he thinks great grandfather is in the right position to answer that part and clarify me.
He told me, that if the final stage was confirmed by my great-grandfather then my choices of who I would end up with would be determined by the family no longer me. Not that I have feelings for anyone else, the only male that I have feelings for doesn't want me anymore but the truth is, I didn't want to be a bride to someone I don't love.
But I doubt if anyone would want a bride that is no longer pure but Roe laughed it out, saying that everyone would give a tooth and feet to be with me, that being with me comes with so many benefits.
I felt like I would become a tool to the Shan family but one thing that kept me going was the last part where he said great-grandfather would never impose anything on me that would hurt me.
From what I have seen for the past two days since I arrived here, I think, great-grandfather and I could get along, we had spent most time together and one thing I noticed about great-grandfather, he was good with words and his words were genuine. I couldn't forget those words he said to me the first day, I step into the Manor, "Oh God, I can't believe that I am blessed with another beauty, damn you are the most beautiful one, I have ever set eyes on for the longest time." I smirked as if I wasn't some other copy of the original version of my mother.
I just stood in front of the mirror letting those women that mother brought to groom me fix this exorbitant dress for my announcement and my coming-of-age gala. Although I don't think it's important grandfather wouldn't let it slide. I wouldn't deny that the dress is beautiful and I like the way it cupped every part of my body. The color was cool and soft, my great-grandfather was the one who ordered it for me when my attempt to get a dress failed. A smug grin emerges from the side of my lips, with this gown on me, I feel like a princess.
Staring at the full-length mirror, I could tell the sparkles in my eyes were enough to tell that I loved what I was seeing, I could count the number of times that I had dressed up but this felt different and I loved it, I loved my reflection on the mirror.
I was still drooling over my appearance when I heard a soft knock on the door, "Come on in..." I didn't even bother to ask who was there when the door pried and my great-grandfather's face came into view, I smiled at him, my smiled reaching my ear. "Great Grandpa..." I called wanting to run into his hand, but he stopped me, gesturing with his arm for me to remain rooted before he asked the women to leave us, they just bowed and left. His smile spread across his face as he walked towards me.
"Don't you know, you are the heiress to the Shan groups? Which means you don't run, let people wait and run after you. The only time, you are allowed to run is when your life is in danger and one most important thing, you don't run after any male, let them run after you." I nodded in appreciation not knowing what to say, I don't know what he heard about me, but I didn't want to ask. His palm went to my cheeks as he gave a soft tap, smiling broadly at me. "I couldn't believe that I have a grand-daughter that is turning eighteen,"
"Great-grandpa, it's not a big deal."
"Says who? You don't know how happy I am when Roe and Amelia told me, that you are my granddaughter. You know, the moment I saw you at that park, I knew you were related to me because you reminded me of Amelia when she was seventeen." Great-grandpa had a somber look on his face.
"And I also feel connected to you as well and I am happy that you accept me into your family when..."
"Stop talking nonsense, you are my blood why wouldn't I accept you, even if it was eighteen years ago when she just had you, I would still love you and want you because you are my family and family doesn't stay mad at each other. I might be a little hard on your mother but that is not because I don't love her, it's just that I am scared, I just lost her mother and my only son, and I didn't want anything to happen to her, so I was a bit strict on her, but I didn't know my actions would curse damage on not just on my daughter but also my granddaughter." My eyebrows furrowed, I thought mother was his granddaughter while I was his great-grandchild, I parted my lips to correct him before I could do that he brought out a small pulse.
"What's that?"
"It's your present...." My face twisted as I watched Great Grandpa open the box and reveal my necklace and my hand flew to my mouth.
"Great Grandpa, how did you manage to retrieve it from my mother and..."
"She is not your mother..." his voice was cold and filled with authority. I smirked lowering my gaze, great grandpa must have heard how they treated me. "...but not to worry from now on, no one will hurt my granddaughter." He repeated the same word, granddaughter.
"Thank you Great Grandpa and I promise from now on, I will protect this necklace like it's more important than my life," I murmured, while he shook his head.
“No, you are more important than this necklace. It can always be fixed when it’s broken or lost but you, you can't be replaced because you are more precious.” I smiled at him as my eyes became watery.
“Oh dear, I made you cry,”
“no, you didn't, they aren't tears of pain but tears of joy.”
"Come here, let me do the honor of wearing you the necklace." He said and I tucked my hair to the side before he fixed it.
When the necklace rested on my neck, I felt that tranquility that it always gave me, and then I heard great Grandpa's voice.
"By the power bestowed in me, as the oldest and the head of the Shan group, I officially welcome you to the Shan group, Nadine Shan, as the youngest of the Shan family and our clan, the last prophetess..." My eyes bulge hearing the word prophetess. "Yes daughter, you are a prophetess the one with a special blood, the one whose blood could heal any supernatural creature, including shifters but you shouldn't tell anyone, because it would be dangerous for you." I didn't know how to take the news but I knew this was going to be hard. "C'mon here, you have nothing to worry about, grandpa will protect you and keep you safe till you find your protector, the one that will keep you safe and you have to get married, if you don't have any male in your life, then it would be my honor to organize the hunt..."
"No need for that Grandpa, I already have someone."
"Someone? Is he special? Can he protect you with his life, you know, you don't need a weak male by your side, you need that male who could stand up for you, protect you, and lay his life for you, you know you can't give what you don't have."
