Chapter 186
Akira's POV
"Please don't say no to me again... You break my heart every time you reject my offer..." His tears dropped as he propped his head and began drinking for me. Even if he didn't survive this, I want him to know that I fought for him and my conscience will be at ease that I tried.
I run my hand on his head, caressing his hair and back, I don't even know what to say, I just stay silent letting my tears stream down my cheeks as he drinks from me.
Suddenly, Wolfie pushed my arms off his lips as he coughed hard, trying to distance himself from me, "Wolfie..." My voice came out more of a whisper, and he shook his head, raising his arms weakly to stop me from coming anywhere near him.
"Please don't... You should run... My..." His voice died down his throat before I saw fur sprouting from his body and his lips fall open, his claws grew, as they dug into the floor, his eyes were bloody.
I know he was shifting, I wanted to create more distance between us but I couldn't, I was scared that a little distance would mean losing him. I just sat there on my bum, watching, as his wolf, Thunder emerged.
He wasn't anything close to the wolf that I had ridden a few months ago, he was looking weak and dying.
He tried to stand on his paws but he wasn't able to, he collapsed almost immediately, I moved slowly toward him, my hand reaching for him, and as my palm met his fur, I caressed his fur. "Thunder..." I murmured, I swear I had no idea what to say after calling out to him, all I could do was stretch my arms back to him. "drink... Please..." I murmured, I don't even know if he could hear me. "Please drink, don't be stubborn like Wolfie..." I said with a firmer voice but his eyes were on my neck, he raised his snout, and they fell on my neck skin, "do you want to bite there?" I had no idea, the reason I asked that, but my voice was firm. He didn't reply he just let his snout graze everywhere on my neck skin before he began licking my face.
This is the time, his fangs will protrude and he will bite me, Wolfie had bitten me before, it was painful but it wasn't anything I couldn't bear.
I shut my eyes bracing myself for the pain, I could feel his fangs greasing my neck, his tongue was already gone, and now it was left with those fangs, his fangs sank into my neck, and I let out an earth-shattering pain, but I wasn't pulling from him. "I can do it..." Those words were enchanted in my head. The more he drank for me, the more I was getting weaker, and Thunder wasn't pulling from me.
My pulse thundered under his fangs, I knew my life was being snapped from me and my pup, I was on the verge of losing it. I knew our only option of survival meant to push him away and that would mean leaving him to die.
My eyes were blurry and my vision was crowded with darkness. I wanted the pain to stop, and at the same time, I wanted him to get enough of my blood, if that would make him survive, but with every draw he took, I felt my energy sapped, now I understood the reason, Wolfie didn't want to let his wolf out, so he could drink from me, he felt his Wolf animal instinct will kick in but I didn't want to push Thunder away, I don't want him to die. I can't bear losing him.
If he is to die then it wouldn't be a bad idea if I die as well, "Thunder..." I called with almost an inaudible voice, I was getting too weak to even move my limbs.
Thunder whimpered as he suddenly pulled from me, and I collapsed on the floor just as he staggered back, I saw his eyes clouded with tears when he blinked, his tears dropped. He was crying and I couldn't help but cry as well.
My body was already covered with blood, and the wounds I had open were not being closed, I know I had magic but I don't think I can close up wounds that were open on my arms and neck. Even if I wanted to try I had no idea how to do it, "Akira..." I heard Vida's voice, I didn't think she would come here because I couldn't even pass any messages when I called her earlier but I was grateful she was here.
I waved my hand in the air when I heard Vida's voice. "over here... Help..." I shouted as loud as I could before I reached out to Thunder whose body was already pummeled to the floor, with his eyes covered in tears, I could see guilt and pain written on his face.
I couldn't even read the expression on his face, if he was feeling guilty for drinking from me or if he was in pain because he thought he hurt me. "Wolfie..." I called out to him but he had already shifted and his nude body passed out on the ground.
I tried to stand on my feet, but my feet wobbled, I felt the pain all over my body and I was crushing on the floor, I heard footsteps and then Vida's voice came up in my blurry eyes, she was the only one vision I could picture in my head, she grabbed my face forcing me to look at her. "You need to heal yourself... Close up the wound..." Her voice came low but I could feel she was shouting but I was hearing it too low. "Akira..." She called louder when I wasn't responding, even though I understood what she wanted me to do, close up the wound so I would stop bleeding but I didn't know how to go about it, her palm met my cheeks, she struck my face with her palm, I felt it hot against it, but I don't think she applies much force as I made it sound, but her action caught my attention. I blinked severally, my eyes that were almost closed parted, I stared blankly at her, with my vision blurry. I felt numb and floaty, "Listen to me Akira... You need to take strength from me..." My weak eyes widened hearing her offering herself for me to pull through, I don't think I understand what she met by me taking strength from her. "Akira... You need to listen to me, you have to feed from me, so you can regain your strength and heal yourself..." I shut my eyes, I didn't want to assume what I was thinking was what Vida meant. "Go on, drink from me, I am your protector and your life is more important than mine... Go on drink and heal yourself..." I battered my lashes, looking at her so weak, but my eyes were covered with tears. "Go on..."
"Vida..." I called, her tears dropping, before she grabbed my arms, I heard footsteps, I guess it was Meredith, and Austin that just arrived.
"Do it, accept my offer, I, Vida McCarthy, give my life in exchange for yours, life for life, as your keeper, I laid down my life..." Her voice becomes more desperate, I shake my head as I stare at her with clouded eyes. "Akira, we don't have time, take the word... Accept my offer... "
"Vida .." I called very low, and my tears dropped.
"Go on Akira..." I wanted to shake my head, but she grabbed my head. "don't think, I am doing this just because I am your protector, your keeper, I am doing it because I love you and my goddaughter..." Her tears dropped, as she wiped them off with the back of her arm.
"Vida..."
"Go on..." She urges me, her voice shakes, I raise my arms and grab her arms, and as I pull her in, my magic envelopes her. It was as if it had been longing for her, Vida stiffened, her face turned pale, as her free hand fell to the floor, her eyes widened but they were just like Wolfie, she was dying, my best friend, my sister, my everything, was dying because of me. I was losing her, just as I was losing Wolfie. I heard the steps closer now and before I pulled my face from her, I heard an earth-shattering growl
"What the fuck is going on?"
