Chapter 125
Amelia's POV
I take a step back not wanting to answer him, his eyes blaze and his anger is visible on his skin. "No, I don't..." I said too quickly to even blink.
"Good, now leave,"
"Please tell me where did he go, tell me, where did Todd go?"
Maximus chuckled a dark sound that held no warmth. He looked down at me with amusement dancing in his eyes, as though my desperation was nothing more than a fleeting entertainment for him. He lifted a hand, brushing an invisible speck of dust off his suit jacket before meeting my gaze once more.
My heart was pounding again, I didn't know if it was just the fear of this man or the fear that Todd must have tricked me again into believing that he was there.
“I’m not in the habit of divulging the affairs of my business to just anyone, Amelia,” he said smoothly. “You may want to know, but that doesn’t mean you’re entitled to know. You’ve done what you could. Be grateful that Ross' debt is no longer a problem for either of you.”
I clenched my fists at my sides. Anger flared in my chest, a hot flame that cut through the icy fear and despair. I had come here expecting to face Todd and pay off his debt even when I knew I was under no obligation to do that so I could get an opportunity to talk to him about my daughter not coming here and meeting the demon himself. Maximus was never a good man, he doesn't play fairly, being indebted to him is like being indebted to the devil himself. I was supposed to be relieved that he didn't want anything from me but I wanted to see Todd.
“I don't think you know who I am talking about. I am talking about Todd, not Ross, I don't know anything about Ross, I am here for..." he glared at me. My voice trembling with emotion. “I can’t just walk away without knowing who paid it. How he managed to escape especially when I know he had only one option, if I didn't pay for him.”
His expression grew colder, his amusement fading as his patience wore thin. He stepped even closer now, while I took a step back, his presence suffocating, and when he spoke, his voice was low and dangerous.
“You seem to be under the impression that you have some leverage here, Amelia,” he said. “But let me make this clear you don’t. This matter is settled, and you’d be wise to walk away before you find yourself in more trouble than you can handle. You know I could be some horny man with high libido and you kind of catch my fancy. I will advise you to leave now before you invoke the wrath of a demon.”
Tears welled in my eyes, but I blinked them away, refusing to let them fall. I had fought too hard to let my emotions betray me now. I stared up at him, searching for any hint of kindness or mercy, but there was none. He was as cold and unfeeling as the concrete walls surrounding us.
“I’m sorry....” I whispered though the words felt hollow. I am sorry I will not bother you again..."
Maximus grabbed my hand suddenly pulling me to himself.
"I change my mind..." He grabbed my hand suddenly, my eyes bulge fighting out to free my wrist from him.
"Let me go..." I snarled at him
"I gave you a lot of time to leave but you refuse to maybe I should have a taste of you, the ever gorgeous Amelia..." He hoisted me from the floor and threw me on his shoulder.
"Let her go...." I heard a deep baritone voice, I looked up and Roe. My eyes widened in surprise, and my conscience flogged me for putting Roe in such danger, I didn't want him to be in danger that was the reason, I couldn't inform him before leaving the house.
"What are you doing?"
"I’m getting you out of here, hey, let go of her” his voice husky and his eyes were glaring at Maximus.
I glanced nervously over his shoulder, shaking my head that he shouldn’t have come here. Grandpa will kill me if anything happens to his precious great-grandson.
“Well, well,” Maximus said with a smirk. “Looks like we’ve got a brave little hero in the making.”
Roe stood his ground, his pulse thundering in his ears. Maximus throw me off his shoulder and my ass hit the ground, "ouch," I let out a hurtful scream before pulled me up by the hair. It was painful.
"Did you know where this is?"
"I don't care, all I know is that I am here for my mom," he calls me, his mom, every time he calls me that, my heart is warm. He raised the pistol, his hands trembling but his eyes fierce. Maximus chuckled, his voice deep and mocking.
“You’ve got guts, kid. I’ll give you that,” he said, slowly advancing. “But guts don’t get you far in my world.”
Roe didn’t flinch. “Let her go,” he demanded, his voice surprisingly steady.
Maximus' grin widened as he pulled hard on my hair. "You think I fight with guns? Nah... I hate the sound of it, even the silent one, I will let your mom go on one condition."
"Which is?"
"No, Roe don't bargain with this demon."
"No, I am not leaving without you, so what is it?"
"You should listen because I hate stubborn grasshoppers." His voice becomes deeper and colder but Roe doesn't flinch
"Go on and state it, tell me, what you want?"
"This?" He said and before Roe could ask what, men were shooting out of their hiding, my heart clutched and my tears dropped. In a flash, ten men were standing behind me. "You will fight them all including me."
"No, Roe run!" I shouted.
"Not a coward," he said sizing all the men standing around us.
"Roe, what are you doing? You can't fight them, you have to leave."
"Leave? Then what will happen to you? How will you meet with my sister?"
"I don't know but I don't want you..." Maximus gagged my lips with his hands as he pulled my hair hard my tears dropped when the ten men launched at Roe at the same time. "I warned you but you wouldn't listen."
"No please no!" I cried trying to scream but my words weren't coming out.
