Akira's POV
With tears in my eyes, I ran out of the office, I didn't know when I used the staircase. I wasn't even tired after taking that blocks of stairs. I wanted to get out of their presents and look for somewhere to hide my shame. Just when I stepped out of the company still at the premises, my phone ping, I brought it out, it was from an unknown number, at first, I felt hesitant to open it and when I open, I got it right, Katerina was pregnant and Wolfie needed the pup to continue being an alpha. I sighed, wanting to push my phone back into my pocket, I knew that already whoever was sending that was wasting his time but it pinged for the second time, I pressed and it was as simple as ABC...
\[You have to quit working with him, if you love him as you claimed or else...\] I shrank in my chest, I felt like someone was squeezing too hard and I was suffocating. I could die any minute from now, so I reached for my bracelet and rubbed very hard on it, it was the first time, I was trying to use it. I have no idea if it would work, I just hope it works.
I was about to drop to my knees when I heard Roe's voice, "Akira..." He called. I raised my head and I found my feet moving, I ran toward him, letting him wrap his arms around me, this is all I needed, family, I am glad I had one now in my lowest moment.
Roe let me remain in his arms till I was able to calm down before he pulled me into his car and drove off, I narrated everything that happened to me, not leaving the part that stated the kind of relationship I have with Wolfie.
I wasn't expecting him to be so calm with the fact that Wolfie and the others are werewolves. I watch him gasp and his grip tightens on the wheel but I don't think he is mad at me. "Do you want me, to beat up Wolfie?"
My gaze snapped to him, that was the first thing that came out of his mouth, I shook my head, "Why? Is it because you still love him?" I lower my gaze. "do you still love him?"
"I do but I am going to forget everything about him and move on, I plan on accepting Casper's proposal at my party, so we will officially be dating by the weekend."
"And you think it's easy to forget someone and how the heck did he even say those words to you, is he on a death wish?" He snarled.
"Stop it, Brother," he tilted his head to me, "I know it's not easy, it's never going to be easy to erase his memory from my mind, but I love him so much and it hurt Roe. It hurt so bad that I don't even know if I could survive without him or be able to move on but I will try for my sanity and Wolfie's Pack, if they needed the baby, then I should be considerate. I know Katerina is not a good person but there is no doubt she loves Wolfie, and will not do anything to hurt him."
"Do you need me to..."
"No, I don't want you kicking his ass..." He chortles giving me a grin.
"I wasn't going to say that, I just wanted to ask if, you need me to create a space at the company so you could start working, instead of staying all day thinking about that asshole." This time I smiled.
"I was going to say that, so is it possible?"
"Of course, it is, anything for the family princess, you know Aunty Amelia is too old to have that princess thing, I am sure great-grandfather will be happy to have another princess around."
"So when should I start working?"
"Hey, not so fast. Do you want my head to be chopped off?" I tittered understanding what he meant.
"I understand you have to create space for me..."
"Not that, I know great-grandfather and mother would love to have some time out with you after the party, so I guess like two weeks after the big announcement, you could start up, as the COO while Vida could be your assistant..." My eyes bulge while I wink at my cousin, he had everything workout, "what's that?" He asked trying hard not to blush.
"Why do I feel you have this all plan, just waiting for me to pop the question?" He shrugged his shoulder.
"A man got to do what he got to do."
"Hmm..."
"Yes, stop giving me that look, I am only helping my little sister, I should have my little sister's best interest at heart always, right?"
"Right, but does that also include her best friend?" I leaned closer trying to fix his safety belt, enjoying the blushing on his face as he tried to hide it. Despite the discomfort on his face and the pain in my heart, I could feel this was the only thing that brought me peace in my shattered life at the moment.
"No, Miss Princess..." he said not looking at me.
"Well, I thought I could help her because my little princess's happiness seems attached to her." he answered curtly, while my gaze was still on him. "stop giving me that look, or don't you want me to help your friend?"
"do you like Vida?" He gasped tilting his head towards me. My question had left him dumbstruck. "You like her right? I guess you want to kiss her." his face grew paler as I eased him, at first I wanted to just brush it off but teasing him somehow made me forget about all the pain in my heart.
"stop that, I can't be having dirty thoughts about a girl that is not my girlfriend?"
"So you could kiss her when she becomes your girlfriend?" he was still trying to find his words when my phone pinged, his eyes moved to my phone screen, a message from Mariam, I sighed. "I think I have to go back, I am needed at the next meeting," I said throwing my head backward in frustration.
"Oh that, but you don't have to go if you don't feel comfortable with it.”
“Don’t worry, I will be fine.” I gave him that reassuring smile.
“If you say so but if anything comes up let me know, I am just one call away.”
“Thank you but I don't think there will be a need for that.”
“Alright, I will drop you off but you will have to resign from the company Asap, I think that wouldn't be a problem, getting the HR department to give the formalities that you need to do." I nodded to him.
The rest of the drive back to the company was silent, we didn't say a word to each other, the only thing Roe asked from me as soon as we arrived at the company was my bank details, I don't know the reason, he asked for that but I didn't question him.
After the meeting, which was a torment for me, I decided to place a call to the HR department, introducing myself and stating that I was quitting my job then she popped the question, "Any specific reason for quitting? Please it should be a valid reason, if not it might be a huge risk on your side."
"I got a better opportunity and I am ready to pay, for the inconvenience."
"Fine, I have mailed you the details. There are a couple of no-dues forms that you need to sign by the CEO directly and since you are leaving without a notice of three months, you will have to pay 5000 dollars to the financial team as a breach of employment terms and conditions..."
"5000 dollars... Where the fuck can I get that? And how in devil's name am going to get that beast to sign this for me."
