Chapter 037

Akira's POV
"What do you mean no, you said..."
"I said finish your files, not get rid of Katerina, you are the one that suggested that, so get back to work." I glared at him, "Get moving and I am taking you home."
"I don't want to ride in your car, because I don't want someone throwing me out of their car."
"I am not doing that get back to work." I sighed, cursing inwardly, as I strutted back to the office, grumbling as I hated the way Wolfie was lording it over me, I am not his girlfriend, first of all, he knew he wouldn't let me go to that concert with Casper, yet he made me face that dragon of his girlfriend.
I slammed my hand on the desk, as frustration filled my head, "is everything alright," Mrs. Mariam asked, I gave her a tight smile.
"Yes, everything is perfect all thanks to your wonderful boss with his dragon's fiancee." Mrs. Mariam laughed.
"Gosh you have a funny sense of humor, no wonder, the boss seems to like you around him."
"He doesn't like me around him, he is only keeping me because he wants to torture me and I am going to pay him in his coin." She tittered again.
"You are funny, make sure to leave on time, because you might not get a ride from here, once it's passed 9."
"I sure I will and thanks." I murmured, bidding her goodbye before tilting my head to the files, it's fucking exhausting, "How the fuck did this weirdo expect me to finish this before going home." I didn't know that it was getting late, my phone rang, it was from Casper. 'shit... I didn't even tell him, I wouldn't be coming for the concert."
"Hey dear, are you done?"
"Sorry, I won't be able to make it to the concert and I apologize for not informing you on time, Mr. Wolfie just assigned me, a bunch of work, I am really sorry..."
"It's fine pretty, we could always make it anytime."
"Sure, thanks for your understanding, I promise to make it up to you."
"It's fine, I will call you later." He said the line died off, I tilted my head side by side before I focused on the files in front of me, The office was quiet, the usual buzz of activity long gone.
The fluorescent lights cast a harsh, sterile glow over the rows of cubicles. I sat at that desk, my eyes focused on the screen as I typed up the last of my reports after going through those numerous files. The clock on my computer read 9:45 PM, and I was the only one left in the office, so I assumed.
"Shit..." I sighed, rubbing my tired eyes, as I finally finished the last report. I have texted Vida and I wouldn't be home on time. I ran my hand on my nape, and my head snapped to Mr. Wolfie's side of the office, he was no longer there, I guess he as gone home.
"Wicked fellow..." I murmured, Tonight was supposed to be special, my first date with Casper. He used to be my crush back then, when we were still in college but not anymore, my sister killed the feelings I had for him but I still like him as a friend and enjoy his company, nothing more.
With a sigh, I sent my work to Wolfie, and then I shut down my computer and started gathering my things.
I knew everyone had left the building, so I just walked toward the exit, my thoughts lingered on Wolfie's annoying actions and how to annoy him.
Pushing open the glass doors, I stepped into the cool, damp night. I looked at the sky it was clear and I let out a sigh of relief, at least it was not going to turn out like yesterday. I pulled my coat tighter around me, braving myself to walk through the dark, but then I stopped in my tracks.
Standing under the soft glow of the streetlamp was Casper. He held a bouquet of white flowers. 'What is he doing here?' I said mentally, while I approached him.
"Akira," he called out, his voice cutting through the night air.
"Casper? What are you doing here?" He took a step forward, his eyes pleading. "I felt terrible knowing that you might be left here alone by this time and my heart wouldn't let me go home, not knowing if you get home safe."
I smiled. "How did you know, I didn't go home?"
"I have been here for hours since you canceled"
"What? You have been here since then?" I hit my forehead slightly as he nodded, extending the flowers toward me. Now he is making me feel bad, but it's not my fault but that weirdo, "I did know, why didn't you tell me? I didn't mean to cancel, it's..."
"Forget it, I know what we boss could do, we could be a handful, sometimes."
My lips curved into a tentative smile as I took the flowers from his hand. "so sweet of you, what a perfect gentleman. And did anyone tell you, you look handsome under the lampstand?" I tease him.
Casper chuckled, relief washing over his features. "I probably do. But if it means I get to see you smile, it's worth it."
"Since when did you learn how to be flirtatious?" I asked staring at the flowers in my hand.
"Since I found you again."
"Silly..." I titter.
"C'mon, do you have a car, I could bring you home?" He asked.
"Not that rich to afford one," I murmured.
"Then it's my lucky day to be your driver." I smirked, "Please don't say no this time." I tittered.
"I was never going to reject your kind gesture,"
"Perfect then, shall we?" He said stretching out his hand for me, I pulled my hand to drop it on his when we heard footsteps.
"Where do you think you are going?" It's this weirdo again.
"It's time to clock out, and it's late, so I am going home," I said.
"Have you finished your task?" He asked.
"Just check your mail, I have sent it," I said in frustration.
"Fine let's go," Wolfie said wanting to take my hand, Casper swatted my hand from him, pulling me to himself.
"Get your hands off her, you have no right to interfere with her personal life." Casper snarled.
"She is my girlfriend,"
"I know you said that before but that doesn't mean she can't mingle with other people, so let her decide for herself. If she wants to come with you or not?"
"Casper, you should know, that I hate sharing my precious possessions with anyone and Akira happens to be one."
"She is not some commodity, you don't own her even if she is your girlfriend. And how am I sure she is your girlfriend when you have Katerina..."
He interrupted him, "It's not your business, it's a private matter between Akira and I. Come on Akira let's go." Wolfie grabbed my wrist.
"Let her be, Stop bullying her, she could make her own decisions."
"Fine, she can but you better choose carefully or you will end up without a job." Wolfie's face was Stern and his voice was cold and deep.
"I am sorry Casper..."
"Why? if you are in danger I could help you, you could break up with him, if he is your boyfriend that doesn't mean, he could lord it over you."
"It's fine, I just realized that I would rather ride with him, maybe some other time..." Casper looked between me and Wolfie, sensing the awkwardness.
"But..."
"Leave Casper..." Wolfie snarled.
"You..."
I interrupted him. "Maybe we can reschedule our date, I don't want to cause any trouble," I said forcing a smile.
"Sure, just call me when you get home." I nodded, his eyes lingering on me for a moment before he turned and walked towards his car.
I watched him go, my heart heavy with mixed emotions. I wanted to tell Casper what Wolfie and I had but I knew I shouldn't, I turned to Mr. Wolfie, who was already walking towards the parking lot. Reluctantly, I followed him, my mind racing with thoughts of what could have been wrong with him and the reason he had been acting possessive since morning.
I was boiling inside but I knew I had to control myself. I raise my head, he wasn't driving me to Vida but to his place.
"Where the heck are you taking me?" I growl.
"To my place."
"I don't want to..." He pulled me without warning, interrupting me as he pulled me into the mansion, he pushed me into the couch.
"What's gotten into you," I yelled.
"What's gotten into you as well? What the fuck is going on between you two?" My eyes snapped to him.
