Chapter 085
Logan's POV
"Mate what?" She asked having that scowl on her face. I huffed running my hand on my nape, her expression darkened and it occurred to me that she had a different view about the whole mate thing.
Maybe, I should just tell her, since she asked this morning if we are going to be married like humans do, husband and wife. However, I don't think that part will come to pass because there is no future for me. She had the right to know the man standing in front of her.
"Hey stop that, I am not calling you a sexual partner, it means something else," I said.
"Fine, explain what it means and don't you dare lie to me," I smirked.
"Cross my heart, I am not going to lie to you but I need to bring you somewhere, then I will explain everything to you," she squints her eyes, her forehead furrowed like she is thinking of something then she shakes her head, I wondered what she is thinking again.
"Fine, but where are we going?" She asked
"I got an invitation from CEO Hart, the old man said his company is having a party and I am invited stating I could come with my date, so I was thinking we could go together and the IV said something about dress code, so I want us to have some few wears from the archive." She looks at me, "c'mon, don't give me that look," I was about to pull her hand when she pulled me back.
"I don't want to go out again with these hickeys on my neck,"
"Stop worrying about that, you should learn to live with it because it's not going to disappear unless I reject you,"
"Reject me?" I huffed, 'giving her too much information,' I said mentally, "what does that mean?" She asked but I pulled her hand when my butler gaze met mine.
"We go on and don't wait up for us, if Meredith comes around just tell him to call me,"
"Let's go," I said pulling her hand before I intertwined my hand with hers. We arrived at my penthouse, and I led her into it before we took the elevator to the top floor, "hey, I thought we were going to buy a dress..."
"Yes," I hummed pressing the button on the wall, the room door cracked open and the dim light was replaced with a bright light, I could see the expression on her face when the wear hanging on the side of the room came into view.
"Wolfie..."
"Yeah, I had Caterina pull them all in your size, try them on..." She looks at me.
"All of them?" She asked,
"Yeah, all of them," she smiled but the smile suddenly faded away, "what is it?"
"Wolfie, I don't have anything to pay for it." She whispered, "And the former, I haven’t..."
"Silly, I am not asking you to pay for it but if you want to pay for it, you could pay me with something more valuable than money," she folded her hand under her bristol
"So what is it that you naughty CEO want as payment?" I tittered, her tummy growl. "Oh..." She folds her hand around her tummy.
"Oh my bad, I think we should eat first before we try the wears," I said pointing to the side of the room, having a table and two chairs with a nice meal, although I didn't ask Catherine to prepare a meal for us, I only ask for the wears and I was thinking after that, we could eat somewhere but Catherine being Catherine is always five steps ahead of the four of us. If there is anyone with the highest IQ, it's no other person than Catherine.
"Goodness, you always know what I need," she said in excitement forgetting everything else, she pulled my hand rushing to the table while she sat to eat.
I watched her eat, I couldn't even enjoy the meal, telling her the truth wasn't part of this evening's agenda but I knew I had to explain to her, with the mark thing, I owe her an explanation, I hesitated, searching for the right words. How did I begin to explain that we are not entirely human? That the man she had come to know and care for was also a beast.
Although, I had practiced this conversation a hundred times in my head, now that the moment was here, every word seemed wrong in my head and Thunder was whimpering in my head, he was desperate for us to hear what we were.
"Akira, there’s something I need to tell you,” I began, my voice low, yet I was watching her expression. I moved my fingers and wiped the food on the side of her lips
"Thanks," she smiled at me and I gave her a tight smile, “What is it, Wolfie? You’re scaring me a little.”
I took a deep breath, and Thunder whimpered in my head, as tension built in me. I shut my eyes, fighting hard to keep Thunder under control. 'Not now, you should stop or I will stop giving her the information,' I growl at my wolf, and he growls back at me but he moves behind my mind.
“Akira, I haven’t been completely honest with you,” I said, my hands gripping the edge of the table, I wanted to take her hand but I thought, it was a bad idea. “There’s a part of me that I’ve kept hidden. A part that… that I’m afraid might change how you see me.”
She frowned, her eyes searching mine, “Wolfie, you can tell me anything. Whatever it is, I am not going to be mad at you and nothing will change how I see you.”
Her words, so full of trust and warmth, made it even harder. 'Will she still say these words when she hears the words coming out of my mouth?' When doubt creeps into my mind. Thunder whimpered, I could feel my beast clawing at my insides, desperate to break free, to be acknowledged. Thunder doesn't know that today could be the end of Akira wanting to have anything to do with us. My throat tightened as I fought to keep Thunder at bay.
“I’m not… I’m not like other men,” I finally said, my voice almost a whisper. Akira burst into laughter, my gaze moved to her
"Sorry... but you are funny, what do you mean like you, not like other men? Every man has genitalia and you have one, they have a macho and you have one, a baritone voice, and a strong arm, so why are you saying..."
I interrupted her, “There’s something inside me. Something… dark.”
"Something like what? Do you have a tail?"
She asked, I wish it was as simple as that, just a tail, not a whole wolf before I could continue, a loud voice echoed in my head, it wasn't just one person but my entire pack members, "fuck..." I cursed under my breath, my frustration mounting. Not now. I couldn’t afford any distractions.
“I’m sorry, Akira, give me a few minutes,” I said, pulling out my phone. Hearing those voices of panic in my head, I knew something was wrong.
“No problem, just go do your thing, I will just sit and eat,”
I force a fake smile before nodding to her. Standing up, I took a few steps away from her, my voice tense as I mind link Austin. "Austin what the fuck is going on? Why did every Pack member open their..."
"Alpha, we’ve got a situation,” Austin's voice was gruff. “There’s a rogue wolf near the border, causing trouble. We need you to help before he breaks into the Pack.”
"How many?"
"We can't tell for now Alpha," Austin growled.
I shut my eyes, Rogue Wolves was bad news.
“I’ll be there,” I said, closing my mind before I pressed my phone screen, so Akira doesn't know I wasn't talking on the phone. I turned back to Akira, my heart aching with the decision I had to make. I needed to tell her fast and then leave.
“Akira, I am a…”
