Chapter 088

Akira's POV
My eyes didn't leave the host, for some reason, I felt uneasy, "are you surprised that the host is the male that you are flirting with his daughter's fiancee?" Linda whispered beside me and my brows furrowed
"You know?"
"Yes, we know that is the reason, we give it out, we are among the generous donors, that Mr. Morgan just talked about,"
"Mother why? I thought you needed money that is the reason you are pawning it not knowing that..."
"It's a payback..."
"For what?" I asked.
"For refusing to see Ethan and for letting your sister go through those humiliations,"
"What humiliation mother?" Concerned reek my face, even though these two didn't treat me like family, I still loved them.
"Don't act like you care," I gulped my saliva, shrugging my shoulder.
"I don't care," I said, Casper ran his hand on my forearm
"Such a flirt," Linda scoffed glaring at me, I could understand her anger towards me. Casper was her high school crush and after how many years she found him his eyes were on me and his hand wrapped around me, he was ignoring her like he never knew her.
"... As I said earlier, only a portion came from Morgan's collection, the rest are donated by fellow businessmen, celebrities, and royalties. This exhibition is put up for fundraising for our heart patient. On behalf of the heart patient, we will like to thank all of you, for coming to this auction..."
Mr. Morgan is not only handsome he is fluent in English, I guess he should be in his late forties but he still looks like a boy in his twenties.
At first, I had lost hope that I might not be able to retrieve my necklace knowing the organizer is my worst enemy, I guess Katerina must have told her father about me.
"Mr. Morgan seems to be a nice man and kind-hearted ..."
Casper's gaze moved to me and he smirked, "I don't think you are a nice judge of character, Morgan is far from the words, Nice and kind-hearted,"
My brows furrow, "Do you think he is brutal?"
"C'mon Akira didn't Logan tell you that in a business world, no one is tagged with those nice words? And don't think the heart patients are their priority, they are only creating awareness for themselves and probably trying to dodge increment for tax..."
Casper's words were true, if my beloved sister and mother could trash my necklace because they hate me, or probably want to get back at me like they said then these businessmen must have other hideous reasons for doing this.
The first exhibit was a diamond ring, from Mr. Morgan's collection. It was once worn by a queen, he mentioned the kingdom's name but I don't think I know where that kingdom is or even heard the name. The initial price was three thousand dollars. The rule was to bid up by a hundred every time.
I was looking at the ring it's beautiful but I don't see the reason people are bidding for it, "do you like it?" Casper asked as my gaze became stronger on the screen, not like I was admiring it, I just thought it was not worth the money these men were investing in it.
"Nah... Just curious, why they are bidding high for it," I said and then my naughty sister also bid for it. I wondered what she would want to do with a ring, is she some kind of male that wants to propose to his female?
And then the highest bidder was finally announced when anyone didn't bid higher than him. After several bids there comes my necklace, the sparkling reflecting from it was something I hadn't noticed all my life.
I strengthened my body, and pulled Casper's hand, pointing at the necklace but the enthusiasm and the expression on Casper's face showed that I had underestimated the necklace, "An anonymous donor donated this necklace. They said it's called the wave of the sea. It has multiple diamonds fixed together and it's perfectly cut. You could see the authenticity, it's genuine..." My eyes bulge Seeing the price tag on it and the way the females in the room were clamoring for it, I knew it wasn't going to be easy.
It's just a necklace to them but it means a lot to me, I don't know if it truly was from my biological mother but I am keeping it. "I want that honey, please get it for me,"
My heart palpitations increased when I heard those words coming from different angles, I clenched my fist fighting hard to control my heartbeat, Casper's hand fell on my arm resting on the table, "relax, I will get it for you," my gaze moves to him, "at all cost," maybe those words are the words, I wanted to hear at this point.
The bidding started after the necklace was introduced. The initial price was low just two hundred dollars and it made my hope high that I could get my necklace home. But in the blink of an eye, the number on the screen began to grow, was it growing or probably flying because the price is now at millions?
I tilted my head to Casper that haven't even bid for it, I didn't know how this thing worked, I was just trusting Casper to retrieve the necklace for me. My palm began to sweat as I was getting tense. Casper suddenly jumped into the bidding entering two million, Mr. Morgan's face was clouded in excitement as he declared Casper's seat number as the highest bidder, "Seat number Forty is a generous bidder, offering two million for it, is there a higher bidder?"
"Who was that?" The murmuring in the room increases.
"Let's forget about it, I don't think it's worth the stress, I could get you another," another murmured.
"Is there anyone else? Going one..." My eyes bulged when I noticed that the price suddenly jumped to Five million, 'I am doomed,' I said mentally before my hands went to my face. I scrubbed my face with my palm
This time, Casper doubled the amount and my eyes locked with him, 'ten million, is he crazy?'
"What the fuck ten million for a necklace? What's the bidder thinking?" I tilted my head to Linda and Mother who were glaring at me while I was smiling.
"Number Forty offered ten million, the highest price of the exhibition today. This is an outstanding number, is there anyone that will outbid him?" Mr. Morgan said and with that smile on his face, I was sure he thought no one would bid more for this necklace, even though I didn't see anything unique about the necklace, just the fact that it has always been hanging on my neck for as long as I could remember, he picked the hammer and then said, "Ten million, going one... Going two..."
At this point, another bidder just joined the bidding and the price on the screen made tears well up in my eyes, "Twenty Million..."
