Chapter 015
Logan's POV
"What the heck is going on?" I grunted as my sharp gaze focused on my mother.
"Logan son... Please sit... Let's have a meal together, I know that you have been busy and you sometimes forget to have a proper meal." Louisa pleaded with me, although most of my mom's decisions don't go well with me that doesn't mean that I don't love her, and one of those decisions was the relationship that she was building with my late Dad's younger brother, uncle Lucas, Riley's father. Rumor had it that their relationship is more than just friendship and they said mother was sleeping with him even when father was alive but I doubted that because Uncle Lucas's mate was still alive when father was, although I never got to meet father I don't think he is all that bad that his mate will want to cheat on him but women could be a whole lot of stuff.
I have tried my best to not give that rumor a thought but I swear I am going to kill him if I found out that Mother is having an affair with him and this cousin of mine that is sitting at the other side of the room, has a way of Annoying me even without saying a word and his father who always acts like he doesn't see him bully me when I was much younger makes me hate the both of them. Sometimes, I get the feeling that he is just waiting for me to die so he could give the alpha position to Riley, I swear to the goddess, if ever, I was unable to produce an heir before I passed away, I am going to give the alpha position to my beta Meredith.
"C'mon brother, aren't you excited to see me?" I almost wanted to chuckle at his words, his humor sounded hypocritical, there was no way I could be happy seeing him because we are not friends, how could I forget all the humiliation he gave me back in college he always wanted every girl I went after, the college playboy, yet everyone thinks I am the bad guy while he is the good one.
I swallow hard, as I take a seat opposite the three of them, not bothering to look in the direction of my uncle, if I hate his son then I detest him, for all the things he did to me all in the name of training me to become the next Alpha.
"It's nice that you make time to join us for lunch." I know it was my uncle, who was whispering that but I acted like I didn't hear him, I couldn't tell the exact thing that made me hate him but I do, I do not like him and he knows I don't like him. I just ignored his words like I didn't hear what he was saying, no matter how many times I ignored him. He doesn't know when to stop. He kept trying to strike up a conversation with me.
"Now, let's eat, it's not every day, that I get to see my two..." She paused, "your two what?" I asked as she wasn't attempting to complete the sentence. "My two families, one I have earned because I was mated to his brother and the other because the Goddess was fair enough to bless me with the fruit of the womb for my mate. So let's enjoy this moment and forget about our problems, it's not every time we get the opportunity to gather like this." Mother said, before her hand went to my uncle's hand that was resting on his lap and gave it a good squeeze, I rolled my eyes, it better ended with that.
Uncle Lucas gave my Mother a reassuring smile acting like he wasn't affected by my actions and how I always ignore him. It's been so many years, he was the only father figure I grew up knowing apart from Uncle Ramsey, Meredith's father. My late father Beta, and Gamma's father yet I detest him.
"I understand, it must be hard running the company and also the pack but you still make time to have lunch with us. I hope you are not exhausting yourself and if ever you need any assistance, your cousin is here to help." He said.
"Why do you think I will..."
"Logan..." Mother called in frustration, cutting me off before I spilled out all the bad blood from my throat.
I nodded, I did not want to sound rude but the truth is, I always can't stand this man, just maybe, there is some skeleton in his closet and that is the reason my instinct doesn't seem to agree with him.
With every second of sitting here in the same room with them, I just could not stand them and it was suffocating and irritating, so after a few bites, I knew I needed to leave before I could no longer control my anger toward them. "I am done, I have a workload and a pack to attend to like you said, I am a very busy person and I am hoping you will respect that fact and not pull me out of my office because of an unfruitful meeting."
This time, Mother didn't even say a word to me nor did she stand up, she just nodded while I walked out of the building, I hated this, today seemed to be a bad day for me, first it was that annoying woman that my wolf takes a liken on, spending my money like she was my wife and now, my mother is giving importance to that uncle of mine that I do not want to see.
I loosen my necktie as I sit in my car, throwing the mask off my face, most times I go out with my face mask but in my tinted glass car, I always take them off. I drove back to the office, masking my face before getting out of my car and I made my way to my private elevator. This is limited to just me, Meredith, Catherine, Mariam, and Mother if she is visiting but she hardly visits.
I just walked into the elevator when I heard footsteps of someone walking towards me, I didn't want to admit that I knew the fellow walking towards me but the truth was, I already knew, my muscles flinched and my brow furrowed, her smell and present always rattle me. My reactions towards her weren't pleasant yet my wolf always seemed awakened when he sensed her presence. My eyes were still focused on the floor, I didn't want to look at her.
"What the heck do you want?" I asked with my gaze still on the floor, she didn't say a word but her hand was outstretched, she was returning my card, I moved my hand to get it but the elevator was about to shut, if it shut then her hand will be trap between the door. I stood there in shock as the elevator doors slid slowly, not knowing what to do. Akira's hand might get caught in the narrow gap. Panic surged through her as she tried to pull free, but the merciless jaws of the elevator threatened to crush her hand.
