Chapter 176
Akira's POV
Everything happened too fast for me to process but all I know is I jumped in front of my mother, and then Vida, jumped in front of me, and then I heard shattering windows and bullets flying everywhere.
The sound of the bullets was unbearable I could hear screaming from everyone in the room and my necklace burned badly in my neck.
"Ah..." I heard the voice of my aunty screaming in pain, as she dropped to her knees. "this isn't over, even if you kill me, you will not escape, all of you will die." Her voice came out low but enough to hear before she dropped to the floor, her blood decorated the floor of the room but that was not the end of it all.
My eyes darted to Vida and she nodded to me, her expression was enough to show she understood what to do, I know it would be dangerous for her to use her power to freeze time, for now, but we are all going to die if we stay here and do nothing. "Let's start..." Vida's voice rang in my head, just when she was about to freeze time, one of the gunmen charged at Vida, distracting her and she fell back to the floor, while the necklace burned more into my skin, and my hand went to my necklace and I rubbed it hard. Letting out a growl, "no..." That single word that left my lips was like a cry for help, agony, and fury.
I felt power surge through me, and rage enveloped me, and before I could register all that was going on, I saw all the men surrounding us, fall to the floor simultaneously. Each one lying weakly on the floor, almost lifeless.
My eyes fell on Roe, and the rest of the men running inside, my vision was becoming blurry but I could still see more men running in, I spotted Meredith, and Austin, my eyes moved to the entrance hoping to see Wolfie but he was nowhere to be found.
My heart clenched in pain, and my tears dropped, but I shrugged my shoulders, using my shoulder to wipe my tears.
I watched as Austin's eyes dilated, his eyes darted across the dim basement but averted them almost immediately after his gaze met mine. He shut his eyes shaking his head too rapidly, as he tried to take another step towards me, I guess he was battling with his willpower.
He snapped his head, toward the direction of Linda, my sister. His eyes dilated again, as they rested on Linda, Without thinking he walked slowly towards Linda, and in a blink, he was right in front of Linda, to help her off the rope.
Every instinct screamed at him to protect her.
He crouched beside her, claws trembling as he gently loosened the knots. The girl flinched, her wide eyes glassy with fear. He swallowed hard, pushing back the growl rising in his chest.
"It's okay... you're safe now," he whispered, too gently for a gamma, a weak smile spread across my face.
The ropes fell away, but before he could pull back, Linda threw her arms around his neck, clinging to him desperately. His breath caught. She had no idea who he was. What he was.
His heart thundered against her fragile frame, and his arms instinctively wrapped around her. "Mate." I think I heard his wolf whisper.
My gaze didn't leave them, even though the moment was awkward but I saw Linda's hand fly to his neck. I think they are mate but Linda doesn't know about the wolf stuff I am sure, fear had made her throw her hand around Austin's neck.
Roe helped me out of my rope, I ran into Mother's arms when I was free. "Everything is fine now, we are safe now." Mother reassure me gently stroking my back.
"No..." I heard a loud growl, I think it's from Aunty Miranda's child, he screamed rushing towards his mother.
"Mother please, Hung on there, I am sorry..." He cried, I don't know his name because we haven't been introduced. "Help! Somebody help me..."
I put away from Mother, parting my lips to reassure him, but I could feel the necklace growing cold and it felt like ice on my chest, before I could register what was going on, I felt my vision fading away, my eyes shut, my kneel buckled, while my world engulfed into darkness.
I woke up to a cold hand wrapped around my head, and a soft familiar pleading voice from afar. I shut my eyes to register what was going on, "Please, I beg, let me wait for her to wake up, I will leave immediately after she wakes up."
"You have no right to that, I told you to leave already. Why do you keep coming back? You lost every right to her, the moment you left Nadine, on a lonely path and put her in danger." Roe's voice thunders.
"I said I am sorry, I didn't mean to hurt her."
"You didn't mean to hurt her? But you did, for God's sake, I don't see what my sister sees in you. A man who couldn't accept his responsibility is not worthy to be called..."
"Roe, that is enough." I heard my grandfather's voice.
"I am sorry Grandpa, but I am only protecting my sister."
"I know and you have done right, his face is enough to show that you have taught him a lesson but let him be, give him a break."
"Fine, he could stay but I don't want to see him anywhere near that room, I don't want Nadine to be traumatized." I smile at the lost words of Roe, "Traumatized" Who told Roe that I would be traumatized? Seeing Wolfie's face was the only thing that could pull me out of this madness.
"Why is my daughter not waking up?" I heard Mother's voice, so close.
"She will be fine, the doctor said so, and I could feel it." Vida's exasperated voice filled the room. "Don't worry Aunty, she will be fine. I am sure, she collapsed because of exhaustion. You know like I did the first time when I practiced magic."
Oh, Vida, her voice was so soft and it's just that one thing, I wanted to hear.
"Fine, I will leave her for a while, will you take care of her."
"I will." Vida accepted but before she could turn around, I battered my lashes.
"Mother..." I called out to her, and she turned, seeing that I was up, she ran back to me and pulled my hand, worried reek over her.
"Are you feeling pain? Are you alright? Is the baby fine? Should I get the doctor..."
"I am fine mother and your grandchild is okay." She pulled me suddenly into a tight hug.
"I am sorry... my baby... sorry mother was so carried away thinking of herself, being selfish, thinking of love, her interests, that she forgot to give you a good father. I should have looked for a good father for you." I smirked pulling away from her, "I'm sorry, I didn't look at..."
"It should be me apologizing to you, for choosing that man as a father, but anyways, we should stop thinking about Father, we should enjoy each other company, in the means of this mess, we have each other, so it's not all bad unless you want to say..."
"No..." Her hand gagged my lips as she shook her head furiously.
"I know you don't and I also don't think that you made a wrong choice with Dad, it's his loss, not yours."
"Thank you for coming into my life and for giving me, this wonderful gift." She murmured, pressing soft lips on my forehead while running her hand on my tummy.
It's been three days since the incidents, and everyone was going back to normal, even though Mother is still not comfortable with me going out, I was okay with it since I didn't have anyone to visit, it wasn't a big deal.
I was thinking, Wolfie would speak to me after my mother announced that I was up, he didn't but He just left without a word and he hasn't called or visited since then.
I just finished having my lunch when one of the maids announced someone was here to see me.
Excitement crept into my heart and spine, knowing it must be Wolfie who had come to ask after me.
I run through the stairway.
