Chapter 187
Akira's POV
"What the fuck is going on?" I heard that deadly familiar voice and my weak eyes followed the voice, it was Meredith's, he launched towards us before he pulled Vida from me, she had already collapsed to the floor, her eyes welled up her tears, his body was trembling already, fear was written all over his body and I could feel the pain emitting from him, "Babe..." His voice came out low as he hovered over her, while I fell off her, my eyes darkened, as I felt something else invading my body. "Pumpkin..." I heard Meredith call her, I didn't know this male could be so gentle and scared, I wanted to smile at his words but I was still unable to feel my body, I thought Meredith would never accept the bond, but now I realize that Meredith wanted Vida and he was probably scared, he tries to shake Vida that wasn't responding to any of the names he called her. Vida lay there crumpled on his arms, her skin ashen, her body trembling violently. Dark veins spider-webbed across her exposed arms, and her lips cracked and pale. Her breath came in shallow, labored gasps
"No... Please open your eyes... don't you dare close your eyes on me." He growled as he pulled Vida to himself. He pressed her hard to his chest. "I beg you please, don't die on me..." The words ripped from Meredith’s throat as he wrapped his arms around her. Her body was too light, too cold. He whispered, brushing damp hair from her clammy forehead. “Stay with me. Please.”
She exhaled softly, her body going still. "No... No... Don't do that..." His lips trembled, as he tried to keep her away, "fuck no..." He cursed. For the first time, in my life, I saw the jovial male scared and was at the brink of crying seeing what I had turned Vida into.
"I am sorry..." My voice came up when I saw how devastated Meredith was, watching his mate almost lifeless on the floor because of my actions.
He paid no attention to me, as he grabbed her face and smashed his lips on Vida, "Meredith no..." Austin growled, I have no fucking idea of what he was doing and the reason, Austin was yelling at him, and he jolted Meredith from Vida.
"We need to bring them to the hospital..."
"I..."
"You should remember, the Alpha and his mate's life is far more important than any one of us." It was then Meredith realized that he was too preoccupied with his mate that he forgot his duty.
"Fuck..." He cursed, and my blurry vision followed him, his face was already soaked with tears when he pulled from Vida, he wiped his tears and rushed to where Austin was crouching beside Wolfie, he parted his lips to say something but I heard a faint voice, I think it belongs to Wolfie.
"I am sorry..." He murmured before his eyes shut finally.
"Wolfie..."
"Alpha..." I heard Meredith and Austin scream at the same time, my inside curve and irritation invaded my being. A low snarling erupted in my throat.
"Luna..." That was all I heard before darkness enveloped me and my vision faded completely away.

Austin's POV
I knew this day would come, and as much as I have been preparing for it as a gamma, I didn't think it would just be me wanting to save everyone at the same time.
Since I became the gamma, three years ago, I have been training for this day, and with everything happening too fast, I know, this day we come almost like a thief, unplanned but I didn't think it would be today.
Two months ago, Alpha Logan had relieved Meredith of the duty of looking after his mate, Luna Akira, and had put me in charge of her but one thing he didn't forget to do was to throw Vida into the scheme.
He told me to watch Vida the same way I watch Akira, to protect her, if ever there is a need for that, that I should not let any harm come to her. I didn't ask any questions because I already knew that Vida was beta Meredith's mate, the mate he was fighting too hard to ignore, even though I had found my mate, I didn't think she was in any way in danger that she needed to be watched like Akira or Vida. Since the day I rescued her, I haven't gone back to her or even tried to make a conversation with her but she seemed to be fine, moving on from that awful experience and fixing her life.
I thought my duties would end the night, Akira and Logan had their union, but instead, the alpha told me that I should watch over Vida, although at first, I didn't see the reason to do that because Roe was more of an owl, he was watching Vida 24/7 and they were always going out together, just last week, I was forced to ask Meredith if Vida was truly his mate, he just shrugged his shoulder, giving a silent reply but I saw the hurt in his eyes that his mate was entertaining another male, but I guess he was fine since he hasn't experienced any pain of unfaithfulness, it means Vida and Roe haven't crossed the line or probably they did, he didn't tell me.
I was sitting in my car watching the condominium she had lived in for the past weeks Akira moved in with Wolfie when I saw her hurry out, the expression on her face was killing, I got curious and enhanced my Wolf hearing, so I could hear who she was calling that gave her that expression. Only for me to hear her calling out to Akira, I knew something was off as my wolf whimpered in my head, I sent a mind-link to Meredith to meet me here, that I was on my way to Wolfie.
Only to get here, I felt power was spread across and Meredith couldn't help but clutch his chest almost all through the walk down here, he didn't want to say a word, only to be met with Akira's power enveloping Vida, I heard the deafen screamed from Meredith and before I knew it, he was pulling his mate into his embrace. I felt sorry for him but I know the Alpha's life comes first before anyone.
I watched him slowly pull from Vida before he moved to the side of Wolfie before Luna Akira snarled, my eyes darted to her and it fell wide almost immediately.
“Luna..." Meredith and I screamed as Akira collapsed as well, I reached for my phone, directing the pack doctor here.
His eyes went round, seeing Akira covered with blood, we couldn't dare to lick her wound because she is the Luna, doing that to her will means disrespecting our Alpha.
She had bled badly that it was almost impossible for her to still have life but somehow, she did have and Vida was looking too fucking pale, with that dark spot covering her skin like some evil demon clawing out of hell, I think she might... I didn't want to take that last words, I don't think Meredith could survive without her, just as I don't think Wolfie will survive without Akira or the other way around.
"Hurry up... We need to bring them to the hospital, Lady Akira has lost much blood and Alpha Logan's body is fading away slowly."
"And the female?" I point to Vida, Meredith was just there, not being able to say a word but his attention pricked up when I asked about Vida that was been taken away by the stretcher. "Is the female still alive?"
