Chapter 158

Akira's POV
Not that I don't like dressing up but I hate the part having to fit in wears and take it off. I love dressing up and looking up girly but just don't want to go through that stress. Still, I had no choice but to do it, it's my big day apart from finding my family, I will be introduced to the world as the Shan group heiress, and having my coming-of-age party as well. I know a lot of things will change about me when I finally unite with my family but I am happy that at least I gained something, in my lowest point.
The past few days that I stopped working at Wolfie's office weren't all smooth for me but it was okay, I wasn't thinking much about Wolfie, not that I have been able to erase him from my mind but I am glad I have something else occupying my mind.
At first, I thought it was going to be difficult to get his signature for my resignation later but it seemed he was already tired of me, and when I approached Meredith and told him the situation, Wolfie was okay with it.
Although Meredith felt reluctant at first, in the end, he decided to mind link Wolfie and he didn't even blink before he gave his approval, so I just felt it was over and Wolfie was tired of me. "Akira, you need to see this." I look at Vida who was excited to help me get my dress, she is even more excited than I am, even though Vida is not a fashionista, she seems to enjoy more of these than I am.
I haven't told Vida yet that after my party, I will be moving out of our apartment into the Shan mansion and that I will also be starting my new job with her as my assistant. I know she had been feeling a little down as my party approached but just didn't want to say anything. One thing, she didn't know, is that I was not leaving my sister behind. I smiled at her, remembering all the things that we both had gone through.
Every dress I pick up, I seem to notice that there are one or two flaws within the piece of fabric. One dress I picked Vida said didn't compliment my skin, another made me look too simple, yet another was too revealing. It was never-an ending stream of advice and comments from Vida. And I am grateful for that, mother and Roe said they will be joining us here but I haven't seen them yet, so instead of just waiting Vida and I decided to fit some while waiting for them.
"This is perfect, Akira, come on, I could feel it," Vida said suddenly, her voice clouded with excitement, as she picked a pinkish gown that was floor length. She spread it out for me, watching it without even fitting, I could tell it was a perfect much, the neckline was just okay, and I was sure it wouldn't reveal much of my skin like the one, I had worn at the last party, but I think, it would look perfect on Vida than on me, "what do you think? You want to try?" Vida asked with that smug grin.
"Nope!" I said, her smile faded off her face as she looked at me. "I think, it would fit you more,"
"No way, I am not wearing a dress."
"Yes, way, you are wearing a dress, c'mon, it's my big day and remember you promised to wear a gown on my big day," I winked at her. She runs her hand on her forehead. "Please, just for that day, I am not even going to ask you to wear one on my wedding day?" I give a poker face.
"Really? Does that mean, I could stand beside you with my favorite baggy jeans?" I rolled my eyes inwardly while nodding to her. 'She wished?' I said mentally. Of course, I am not going to let her wear that on my big day, but would I even have that day? I move my hands and touch my neck before I let out a frustrated sigh. Vida notices my reaction.
"C'mon, don't think about it, I know Wolfie loves you, he is only going through rough times I guess."
"Stop talking about Wolfie, I know he is done with me."
"What if he is still in love with you?"
"Then I will let you do anything you want, I wouldn't even bother you about your wears anymore?"
"Okay..." Vida shrugged, having that smug grin before walking into the dressing room to fit the gown, it didn't take long before she stepped out of the dressing room, and my eyes widened in the slightest bit. Vida always amazed me when she wore something girlish.
"This is perfect," I murmured in absolute approval as she twirled in circles.
"Are you sure this is..."
I interrupted her, "I know you don't trust my opinion but you should wait until all those cute sexy billionaires set eyes on you, at my party."
"Akira..." She screamed my name and I zipped my lips, gesturing with my fingers, she didn't say anything before she walked into the room, and fixed her normal wears. The gown was neatly tucked in one of the couches. "Now your turned. So let's get to work, it's the princess's big day." I smiled seeing the way, Vida was acting like he was the attendant, she rolled her eyes over my body, like she was trying to take into consideration everything on my body to get the perfect gown for me. "We need just the perfect princess dress to show off those curves of yours." I gave her a tight smile, cause I know here comes the torturing part. Vida, I know will never let me fix just one wear and give it a good.
I have lost count of the number of times, that I tried and strike a pose for Vida's approval, but they all ended up in a negative shaking of the head. Just when I was about to give up and just settle for anything, I watched Vida's face crumpled as she stared ahead of me. "Vida, what is it?" I asked looking worried as well.
"Look over there," she pointed at the two-way glass door that just flew open, my lips dropped seeing who was standing there.
"Akira..." He whispered, dragging me from my thoughts.
"Father..." I called, staring at him in surprise, having the same expression that Vida had on her face. I don't even know what to do if I should run into his arms or keep staring.
"Stop staring, it's me, your dad," this time, my foot moved and I found myself running into his arms, not like we have the best father and daughter's relationship but he wasn't as mean as the rest of them.
"Where the heck have you been father?" I asked the very moment I pulled from him.
"I will answer that but we have to leave right now." He pulled my hand, almost too rough to be gentle. His expression was a mixture of urgency and guilt
"I can't, my mother will soon be here..."
"That is the more reason, we should leave." I looked at him confused, I swatted my hands off him.
"Father stop it, I can't leave my mother now that I have found her," I said.
"And you want to leave your father?" I shut my eyes trying to get the right words when he pulled my hand, dragging me toward the exit.
"Father stop it, you are my adopted father, and I appreciate it but you are not my real father, mother said my dad's name is Todd..." I tried to free my wrist from him, but he wasn't bulging, he pulled me roughly and Vida ran behind us.
"I know this is sudden," he whispered, his voice low and urgent, "but you have to trust me. I’m your father, Akira."
I frowned, fighting his grip, while I tried to catch up with him. "But… my daddy’s name is Todd. Amelia told me."
Dad froze for a moment, as he grabbed the doorknob with his other arm, his lips pressed into a thin line. Then, he smiled a sad, almost desperate smile. "I know that’s what she told you. But sometimes grown-ups… they lie to protect the younger ones. You know, I’m your real dad." I parted my lips to say something the door was pushed open before Dad could do that.
"Fuck..." Father curses turning almost immediately, as he searches for another exit.
"Hey you, let go of my daughter." My mother's voice rings in the room, and then her eyes bulge, as her lips drop. Dad's heart pounded in his chest as he heard her voice.
Her expression shifted in an instant, her calm demeanor replaced by shock and anger. As she stared at Dad.
"Todd..."
