Chapter 144
Vida's POV
"Why?" I asked with my eyes bulging, staring at him surprised.
"Vida?"
"Holy shit!" I cursed inwardly, hearing Akira's voice. I stared in horror while slowly pushing my way from Meredith, who didn't reassure me that he would not say a word about what happened between us.
What is even wrong with me? Why do I want Roe to see me as a perfect girl? Probably, I was a perfect, decent and a saint, a few minutes ago before this brute smashed his lips against me and to think that I enjoyed everything that he did to my lips and my body. "Oh fuck me!" I murmured inward as I stared at the horror on Roe's face right now. The way he was looking at me was suspicious. Did he already know that something had happened between us?
My gaze shifted suddenly between Roe, Akira, and Meredith.
Then I gulped my saliva seeing the way, Meredith's lips tugged into a smirk, and he flicked his tongue across his lips.
As if the smirk was not enough, he tried to adjust his pants so that his erection was visible. Gosh! I could feel all the color in my veins draining out, and I was looking paler than normal. Good for him, no one could see his erection and all the nonsensical acts of his except me that he was facing. When my gaze moved back to Akira, I could see red tints creeping into her face and she was turning red.
If the gate of hell could just open and swallow me, I would have gladly opened my hand and walked into it, and yeah, if I was going into it, then I would take this punk into it with me, and then I could punch his handsome face because, at that point, I think he is enjoying my Predicament.
I hit his shoulder slightly before I hurried towards Akira. I grabbed her hand too fast to avoid any questions that could lead to the reason why I was back in this streetwear, when I practically left home with a sexy gown.
I could feel the suspicious look on Akira's face. Although she had a lot of questions to ask, I know she would not say anything in front of her cousin and Meredith. Even with that, it wouldn't stop her from teasing me.
I don't know what my heart is saying, I still have to play safe. If it's Akira's cousin that I am falling for or the other way round.
Whatever it is, I wanted to be in the good book of Roe, Akira's cousin.
"Let's go..." I mumbled, not giving Akira the opportunity to protest.
I couldn't even look at my best friend, right now, I felt like a slut, not different from all the other females that must have thrown themselves at Meredith because of his appearance and money.
"I think we will call for a cab," Akira said suddenly, and my eyes snapped at her while Roe stared confused at her. "Yes, thank you for the shopping and the ride, I just remembered that Vida and I needed to be somewhere."
"Oh! Then I should leave my car..." Akira shook her head while her hand went to her cousin's chest.
"Don't worry about us, we will be fine. If there is any danger, I could alert you with the little box. I still have it," Akira said. I remember she told me about it.
"Oh yeah, but that can only work when we are in the same space. Here you could have this," he stretched out a bracelet to her, and she grabbed it from him.
I wish I had someone who could protect me and look out for me, then I shook the thought from my head, I should be happy for my friend. "Thanks, big bro."
"You are welcome, and here is one for you." He said, stretching another at me, my eyes bulged, not expecting him to include me in the plans of providing security for his baby sister.
"Stop staring, have it and why are you back on this streetwear?" He said before he shrugged his shoulder, "Anyway, anything you wear looks good on you." He said, ruffling my hair. I gave a tight smile before I heard a growl behind me and my eyes averted to Meredith.
His actions didn't go unnoticed by Roe or Akira.
"Just ignore me." He said, taking two big strides to the door, "I guess I am no longer needed here." I could feel the pain in his voice mixed with anger, my eyes followed him, and I saw his fist clenched and then the door bang behind him. Is he mad? I asked mentally, but I didn't want to pay attention to his actions when Roe's eyes tilted back to me.
I just shrugged my shoulders, before pulling Akira's hand, we ended up riding with Roe, and the good thing, he didn't ask, while Akira changed her mind and asked that he drive us back home.
Immediately he left, Akira pulled my hand, dragging me to the couch. I knew it was time for questioning. "What the fuck is going on between you and Meredith?" I gulped my saliva, pinning my lips, not knowing what to answer. "C'mon Vida, tell me what is going on."
"I told you nothing." I said, avoiding Akira's gaze, while I was fidgeting with the hem of my oversize t-shirt.
"Spill," Akira demanded, having that tone I knew she was not buying my words.
"Nothing is going on between us and I have no idea what you are talking about." I interrupted her, trying to have a poker face, but I didn't know how this smile crept into my face, while Akira raised one of her eyebrows.
"Oh please," I said, rolling my eyes.
"You are blushing Vida. Something happened between you and Meredith." I sighed, and huffed at the same time, before scrubbing my palm on my face. "He kisses me." I mouthed and Akira jumped from her seat to me and her jaw dropped. "Shut the front door. Did he kiss you? Just like that?"
"Well..." My cheeks turned an even deeper shade of pink. "I mean, I kissed him back. I didn’t exactly stop him."
Akira let out a shriek of delight, grabbing my hands. "You kissed him back?! Oh my gosh, Vida, this is huge! I am happy for you, I think he loves you too."
"That is the point, it wasn't supposed to happen." Her brows furrowed, and she squinted her eyes. I ruffled my hair.
"Vida, I don't understand you, why are you beating yourself? You didn't do anything bad. I know you don't have a boyfriend and I don't think he has a girlfriend as well, so I don't see anything wrong with you kissing a guy, unless, you want to tell me, you are in love with someone else, and you feel you are doing something bad against him." I scratched the side of my neck twitching my lips, before Akira's eyes dilated and her hand went to her lips, before she pointed to the door and Dammit.
"Holy shit..."
