Chapter 171
Logan's POV
I could hear my beta and gamma, running after me but I wasn't stopping, I didn't want to go back there, I didn't want to be their alpha anymore. I know I am selfish but I couldn't care at this point.
The wind howled in my ears as my paws pounded against the earth. The moon was high up, I remember when I was much younger, my father's beta, would always tell me that the moon was smiling at us, feeling proud of our every decision but I don't think today it was smiling at me. Probably hating my decisions for turning my back on my pack members. I tilted my gaze from it. I didn't want to be judged, I didn't want guilt to cover my heart. If I succeed to let that thing creep into my heart then I will have to turn around and take back the bullshit I said earlier but I am not doing that. I am not going back, I want to be free, to sleep and wake up beside the woman, I love, if I should die then let me die in the arms of the female I love.
Trees blurred past me, shadows twisting and turning in my periphery. I barely registered the sharp twigs scratching my fur or the undergrowth tugging at my limbs. All I knew was that I had to reach Akira. I would have called but I lost my phone when I shifted.
But as the adrenaline that fueled my strength began to wane, a sharp pain tore through my body. I knew my wolf was getting weaker and tired, and it wouldn't take long before I shifted to my human form. My muscles spasm, my lungs heaved, and before I could stop my wolf, the shift was already happening. My body convulsed mid-stride, bones cracking, reshaping, fur retreating, and then my body pummeled to the ground. 'I am sorry, pardon, your weak wolf.' Thunder murmured in guilt and anguish.
'No, you are not weak and you've nothing to be sorry about.' I murmured.
For a moment, the night spun around me, even though my mind was still active, my body was in conflict, my breath ragged, and my skin bare against the cold earth. I had pushed my wolf too hard, shifted too fast, but I didn’t care and I know he didn't care as well as long as we got the girl. I dug my fingers into the damp soil and pushed myself up, forcing my exhausted limbs to move.
I was still miles from where my car was parked to go to Human Territory. Too far, I don't even know if I had the energy to drive there but I am not stopping.
With a grunt, I staggered forward, first walking, then breaking into a weak jog, then a desperate sprint. My feet were bare, scraped raw from the uneven terrain, but the pain barely registered. All I could see was her, her face in my mind, her scent lingering in my nostrils, she was my lifeline.
The first sight of my car flickered in the distance, and a glimpse of hope spread across my face, I pulled my car door, jumping into it before I zoomed off. The traffic lights and street dim lights gave me a blurry view, at this point, I couldn't use my wolf's eyes, he was too exhausted to be active. My chest burned, and my vision wavered, but I pressed on. My breath came in heavy gasps by the time I reached the outskirts of the Akira family’s estate. I was driving but it was like, I was running on my paws. I was too exhausted when the gate came into view, it was the early hours of the morning when I arrived there.
I grabbed a pair of trousers and a T-shirt and slipped into them, I didn't realize I was driving with just a short, that was the only thing I thought of slipping into when I found my car at the border. The grand manor loomed ahead, its towering gates locked, but I knew she was near. I could feel her.
I rushed to the gate, I was about to bang on it when the gate gave way, it was a gentleman with a board chest that came out, "Who are you and what are you doing here?" His voice came out hostile.
"I am here to see Akira."
"There is no one with the name Akira here." He said wanting to shut the gate when I blurted out.
"Sorry Nadine, I am her boyfriend." He stops in his tracks, and his expression darkens.
"Her boyfriend?" He asked in confusion as his eyes roved my features. "You are CEO Logan?" He asked, and then I gave a weak nod.
"Stay here, I will put a call across." He said, before shutting the door, I could feel something was off but my only consolidation was the fact that I could smell her and She was here.
I waited for like fifteen minutes without seeing him, and just when I was about to bang on the gate again, the door flew open. "Should I..."
He cut me off, "You should leave, I don't think the family wants to see you now."
"But why? What did I do..."
"A lot of things."
"Like?"
"Please don't ask me, I am not in a position to tell, I guess you should come some other time when the family anger had simmered."
"But I am desperate, I do not have time, I needed to see Akira."
"You can't, and there is nothing I could do for you, just leave."
"No, I am not leaving without her, I am either going in or waiting here for her."
"I am sorry, CEO Logan, I am just following order."
I don't know if an alpha command could work on humans but I didn't want to use that on him, so I decided to use a subtle means, "if you were me, and you did something terrible against your girlfriend, would you turned around and leave because her family asked you to?" He swallowed hard throwing his head to the sky.
"If ever I lose my job, or worse, I was thrown out of the city will you..."
"I promise to take you under my wings,"
"I will take you for your words but you can't go into the main..."
Before he could finish, his words, I saw, Akira, running towards the entrance, where I was standing, my heart clenched. She was just as breathtaking as ever.
"Akira!!!" I heard her mother calling out to her. "Close the fucking gate." Amelia snarled before the guard that she was talking to me, could do that, Akira had crossed the gate, and I pulled her into the car, turning on the ignition. I could hear those screaming but I wasn't turning back. I speed up, away from the estate and away from those guards chasing us. "faster if you don't want us to end up in trouble..." Akira growled, and I remember the first time, she pulled me for a kiss claiming I was her boyfriend, and when she commanded me to drive faster if not we would both end up in trouble. A smug grin spread across my face, I turned off the ignition in the middle of the road, hoisting her from her seat while I pulled her into a heated kiss. Our tongue and lips battle for dominance.
I kissed her hard, pouring my emotions into the kiss, this is all I wanted for now, we were both breathless when we pulled from the kiss, I rested my head on her shoulder inhaling her scent, I felt alive suddenly. "Is it true that you had your union with Lady Katherine last night? They told me, I saw it in the newspaper even on the TV." I shake my head.
"I couldn't live without you, I couldn't marry another when my heart is with another, so I denounced my Pack and resigned as their Alpha." Her body jolted as she grabbed my face and looked at me, our eyes met.
"You turned your back on your Pack because of me?" I shake my head.
"It's not because of you, it's because they are better off without me than a liability as an alpha."
"Is there something that I am missing out?" She asked I threw my head to the roof of the car. I think I should tell her, she has the right to know about the male she fell in love with. I parted my lips to say something but her voice came up, "I know you don't want to tell me now, I will wait but I have something to tell you." My gaze moved to her, she slowly slipped from my leg to the passenger side of the car.
"What is it?" I asked seeing how worried she was.
"I am..."
"You are what?"
