Chapter 024
Logan's POV
"That lady is Akira right?" My heart almost jumped off my chest, as I stared startled at Meredith. "Go on, she is the one, I guess you want her, are you falling for her?" I parted my lips to deny every shit that Meredith is spurting but before I could do that, the door flew open again, it's her, no doubt, my eyes are fixed on her legs and the way she take her step, I can't fucking denial it, that step belongs to Akira.
'so you know her step?' Thunder invaded my head.
'stop talking nonsense...' I shut my wolf before I pushed it to the back of my mind.
She walked slowly, I almost wanted to yell at her to increase her step, fuck, if I do that, Meredith will notice the desperation in my voice, that I wanted her close.
When it seemed like hours, she finally approached my bedside, I could hear her heartbeat, her heart was pounding in her chest, she stole a glance at Meredith, I knew that look, she was hoping that Meredith didn't recognize her, she should not be worried about him, but me because I already know who she is. But I remained silent, my expression was a mask of stoic indifference.
"Good evening, sir, here is the painkiller that you requested" Akira greeted and stated her mission, her voice barely audible, as she checked my chart with feigned professionalism. This girl? How the heck was she able to convince the doctors here that she is one of them? "How are you feeling now?" She asked as her hand moved to my wounded lower abdomen, I looked at Meredith.
"What?" The idiot voiced out when he knew what I wanted, I wanted him to get out of the room. I glared at him. "oh, I will just be outside if she is done, and if you need anything let me know, just by the door." He said walking to the door, my voice dug into his head.
'Not the door, go far from it.' He tilted his head, giving me that suspicious look before he turned and walked out the door, he didn't leave the door. 'get out of there, I could still smell you.'
'why did you even want me out the door, she is just going to check on you, right?'
'What could she possibly want to do apart from checking me?' I shut my eyes to prevent her from seeing that my eye's colors are changing.
'fine...' he signed in defeat as he walked from the door when his scent faded completely away from there, I knew he was gone, I let out a breath of relief.
I tilted my head slightly, my lips quirking into a faint smile as I met her gaze with a knowing glint in my eyes. "I've never been this better," I replied, my voice laced with playful amusement. "But seeing a nurse with pretty eyes like you certainly helps, don't you think your completely perfect face will heal me completely."
Her eyes bulged and I guess her cheeks flushed at my words, her heart fluttering in her chest as she struggled to maintain her composure, I almost wanted tittered at her actions, I never needed this naughty girl, tongue could be tied with flirtatious words. "Well, I'm here to make sure you're comfortable, and I am sure it's not my face that will make you heal completely but the medications," she said, her voice portraying a hint of nervousness as she busy herself with the task in her hand. She withdrew her hand from my hurt tummy.
"Don't you believe that sometimes, not just medications could work wonders even a pretty smile could do the magic?"
Her lips drop and it makes me want to rip the medical mask from her face and see what is under it. Those lips of hers.
For a moment, we simply stared at each other, a silent understanding passing between us like a secret shared between lovers. And then, with a subtle nod of her head, I smirked inwardly, as I pointed to the wound, "You should examine it." I said, not wanting to insist too much that she should take off her mask.
"Sure..." I permitted her to continue her charade, to play out our little game of deception for a while longer. If ever I am going to keep her longer here, I should as well play along, her smell gave me peace that I haven't had for months.
Akira tended to me with gentle care, although she barely knew what to do but something was happening to my body with her hands just running on the wounded spot, don't get me wrong, my body wasn't burning in pleasure. I watched her with a mixture of admiration and amusement, marveling at the lengths she would go to just to see me. I know she came up with this plan just to see me, did she care about me?
"I am done," she said but I don't want her to leave. I winched my body to the other side letting out a silent painful cry, she rushed towards me, holding me, with gentleness and care. "Fuck..." She curses as her hand moves on the spot, "how is the pain, should I call the doctor?"
"No, just stay." She moved her gaze to my eyes and then she nodded before walking to the couch. "pulled your chair closer." I don't know the reason I said that but I find myself berating myself inwardly for saying that, but she didn't argue, she just nodded and put her chair close.
As the minutes stretched into an hour, I knew that she might want to leave and she hadn't raised her head to say a word to me or looked at me, I was beginning to feel guilty for keeping her here, for long and nor saying a word to her. "Ms..." I called out to her, not wanting to use her name so she didn't feel awkward, "Hey..." I called again to try to sit upright on the bed, but I was struggling to do so, because of the pain beside my abdomen and those drips attached to my hands, it was uncomfortable.
Seeing the way, I was struggling, Akira rushed to me, she supported my back with one hand, and then with the other hand, she moved the pillow behind me, the process of doing that, it was as if she was hugging me, and my hand subconsciously move, running my fingers on the edge of the medical mask, her eyes move to me, as my fingers brush her skin against the mask.
Her eyes moisturizer me and my heart thuds in my chest, I take in a deep breath, to calm myself but the mask falls off her face, leaving our faces an inch from each other, her eyes search mine, as my fingers move to her lips and she leaned in.
