Chapter 126
Amelia's POV
"No please no!" I cried trying to scream but my words weren't coming out. My tears drop. Watching this stubborn little boy that I had trained into a decent lad roll up his long sleeves, I wondered how he found me so fast.
My eyes move to the ten men, muscles rippling beneath their leather jackets and eyes cold with malice, closed in like predators stalking their prey.
Oh, my little boy was their prey because I should have left when he asked me to leave.
Oh God please don't let anything happen to him, I wouldn't forgive myself if anything happened to him because I was searching for my daughter.
Roe's sharp eyes scanned the group, his body perfectly still, yet poised for action. He seemed to know what was coming, and though outnumbered, he felt no fear. Grandpa had told me a lot of times to protect him and not put him in danger but today I had failed.
Maximus pulled harder on my hair, my skull was hurting badly but my pain was nothing in the face of this danger I put Roe. “You should’ve kept your head down, man, and let me have your mother, one taste and I would have let her go. But now, we’re gonna break you,” he spat, cracking his knuckles.
Roe didn’t respond. He just lowered into a ready stance, his muscles coiling like a spring about to release. The men around him exchanged glances before Maximus barked, “Get him!”
The first man charged, his fists swinging wildly, hoping to hit Roe with brute force. Roe sidestepped effortlessly, grabbing the attacker’s wrist in one fluid motion and twisting it until there was a sickening pop. The man screamed as Roe twisted his wrist and followed up with a powerful elbow to his jaw, knocking him out cold.
My eyes bulge not expecting that.
Two more rushed him from opposite sides, trying to catch him in a pincer move. He ducked, lowered his body and the two men collided before they gained their balance, he spun low and drove his heel into the man’s knee, snapping it with a crunch. As the man fell screaming, Roe pivoted and caught the second attacker with a sharp kick to the ribs, knocking the wind out of him. Before he could recover, he stepped in and delivered a precision strike to his throat, dropping him instantly.
"Yes, son..." I cheer him knowing three are down and left with seven, even though he can't hear, I know he could feel my reaction and I was slowly having hope that the men can't hurt us without a fight, hopefully before he got exhausted, we might have some relief team.
They hesitated now, circling him cautiously. They were supposed to be at an advantage knowing they were trained to be a thug unlike Roe, who was supposed to be a prince, not a street punk, how he managed to have such strength was still in awe for me. But their pride was on the line. The hesitation faded, replaced with anger. Three of them moved in together, hoping to overpower him with sheer numbers.
My heart clutched seeing them launch at him at the same time.
To my surprise, he darted forward with blinding speed, slipping between the two of them. He lashed out with an open palm strike to the nose of the first attacker, shattering it in a burst of blood. He then spun around, driving his knee into the gut of the second man, lifting him off his feet before tossing him into the third man, sending both crashing to the pavement in a heap.
"Holy shit..." I cursed inwardly and saw him move his hand and count his fingers before he murmured.
"Four left..." I giggled inwardly, that was always Roe's thing, he likes to count the leftovers whenever he is doing any task or eating.
The remaining men watched their comrades fall, frustration and fear clouding their judgment. Maximus, didn't like what was happening to his men, watching his men fall with bruises while Roe was standing there with just a bruise knuckles, he pushed me off his grip and snarled, "You think you are strong right?" He charged headlong into the brawl. He was bigger and stronger than the others, a beast of a man, the mafia Lord.
He had to fight the other Lord to get to this place. "No..." I cried pulling the napkin stuck in my mouth
Roe didn’t wait. He met Maximus head-on, using the man’s act against him. He sidestepped the brute’s charging tackle, grabbed the back of Maximus' head, and slammed it into his knee with a sickening thud. My lips fell as I watched Roe. "Who is this male?" I murmured not knowing the boy that I train to be my son. Maximus stumbled, blood streaming from his nose, but he wasn’t down yet. He swung a meaty fist, catching Roe off guard and grazing his chin.
Roe staggered back slightly but recovered quickly. My tears dropped when I saw his blood. He wiped a trickle of blood from his lip, a rare smile curling at the corner of his mouth. Maximus roared and lunged again, but Roe ducked, throwing Maximus off guard, and delivered a rapid series of body shots, each punch landing on his chest. Maximus gasped for air, doubling over in pain. Roe ended it with a swift kick to the side of the head, sending the massive man crashing to the ground, unconscious.
"The Lord down..." He murmured but that wasn't the end for Maximus, he was a demon and he could go on and on, probably catching his breath.
The remaining three men were desperate now, panic settling into their bones. One of them pulled out a knife and charged recklessly. "Roe watch out?" I screamed at him as he sidestepped the wild stab and grabbed the man’s wrist, twisting it sharply. The knife clattered to the ground as Roe disarmed him, then, with brutality, he brought his elbow down onto the man’s collarbone, breaking it with a crack. A swift kick to the side of the head put him down for good.
"Two left..." His breath came out in ragged gasps, he had injuries now but he was determined to end it all.
The last two attackers knew they were outmatched, but they couldn’t retreat now. One of them rushed him with a barrage of punches, trying to overwhelm him with speed, and I think he succeeded in knocking him to the ground. "No..." I growled. He threw the first two punches and they met him on his face, He wanted to throw the third but Roe blocked the punch and countered with a devastating knee to the ribs, followed by an uppercut that snapped the man’s head back. He crumpled to the ground, unconscious before he hit the pavement. Roe pulled his body from the floor in one swift move. Standing on his feet taking the last one unaware.
"One left.."
The final man, trembling with fear, looked around at his fallen comrades and his leader. His confidence was shattered, and the courage that had brought him here evaporated. He took a step back, his hands shaking, unsure whether to fight or flee.
Roe took a slow step forward, his gaze locked on the man. “You can walk away, I mean no harm, I just want my Mom,” Roe said, his voice calm but filled with authority.
The man hesitated, then dropped his fists. He turned and sprinted into the night, disappearing into the shadows without looking back. "Asshole..." Maximus growled from the floor but he didn't look back, I ran to Roe.
"Son, why did you do that?" I said crying on his shoulder.
"I couldn't lose the only female, that makes me feel like a..." I shake my head suddenly as tears fill my eyes as Maximus throws a knife towards Roe.
