Chapter 146

Akira's POV
"Still no reply?" Vida asked as she fell on the couch, next to me, I shook my head, biting my lower lips while having that gloom on my face.
It's been seven days since I last heard a single word from Wolfie, he didn't take any of my calls or return my calls when he missed them and my messages none was replied to, they were all straight to voicemail.
I was getting worried, a lot had been going on for me these past days, from having dinner with my mother and her family, which includes my great-grandfather and my cousin. I haven't met the rest of the family, I was told that I have a great grand Aunt and uncle from her but the thing is, I haven't met them and since my great-grandfather was planning a party for me, I would be meeting them and been introduced to the world.
Everything seems to be working fine except one thing which is my love life. I don't seem to understand what is going on with Wolfie.
I go to work but I don't get to see him, and that is because he hasn't been coming to work I have been to the mansion several times but I didn't meet him as well.
Meredith hasn't been saying anything to me and even Mr. Williamson the butler didn't say anything to me as well.
"Probably, he is in his Pack and he didn't go with his phone," Vida said
"I wish I was a wolf as well, I could probably have that thing you called mind-link, that way I could link to his mind." Vida forced a chuckle, before throwing her head back, she now works in the marketing team of the company, we always go to work together but never come back at the same time because she is always working extra time.
"Don't be ridiculous, unless you want him to turn you into a wolf but I doubt that wolves have the ability to turn a human Into wolves, because they are not Vampires, it's only vampires that have that ability." I sighed looking at Vida that was looking so exhausted. "You should try his number again, you might be lucky this time."
I dialed his number, and it's not a surprise that it's an automated message: "Hi, this is Logan. Leave a message, and I’ll get back to you."
My stomach churned with unease. Something was wrong, what if Wolfie passed out, the same way he did the last time? I could feel it deep in my gut that something was off.
"It's still the same thing." I mouthed.
"He is an Alpha, Alphas are busy creatures, they have a pack to care for and other things to do. I guess he is busy."
"Too busy to take my calls."
"Maybe, you..." I grabbed my jacket and keys. I needed answers, and I wasn’t going to get them by sitting around. "Where are you going?"
"Vida, I can't sit here and do nothing, I need answers."
"You want to go back to the mansion?" I nodded to her. "it's late, why can't you do that..."
"No, I can't wait for another second."  She ruffled her hair before she grabbed her jacket as well.
"I am coming with you."
"C'mon Vida, you need to rest, you are tired."
"And I can't rest knowing that you are out there alone," I smirked, before pulling Vida into a hug.
"I don't know what would have happened to me if you weren’t by my side all this time." she chuckled tapping my back.
"Me too." She said before we both stepped out into the crisp evening air, the weight of uncertainty pressed down on me, I was dying inwardly, I wouldn't know how I would have managed if Vida hadn't come with me.
The drive to Wolfie's house was like an eternity, as we took every turn, Vida pressed my hands, sharing her strength with me, for some reason I was overly worried.
After about an hour, we arrived at the mansion, Vida asked that the driver wait for us.
The porch light was on, casting a warm glow over the entryway. I hesitated for a moment before ringing the doorbell.
I was surprised to see Meredith at the door, it was Mr. Williamson who always opened the door for me. His expression was guarded, his eyes scanning my face with an unreadable intensity.
“Akira” his voice was calm but cold. “What brings you here? I already told you...”
“I’m sorry to bother you again, but... I’m worried about Wolfie. I haven’t heard from him in a week, he didn't take any of my calls nor return it and you didn't give me any tangible information about him." I tried to keep a calm voice.
Meredith's lip pressed into a thin line. I glanced over his shoulder checking if I could catch a glimpse of him but fuck the place is almost empty.
“Akira,” He called softly, his tone almost sympathetic. “Logan is fine. He’s just... dealing with something right now. He needs some space, you know he is an alpha? He had a Pack to run and some other stuff.”
"I told you so," Vida whispered beside me.
“Space?” My brows furrowed. “Meredith, is there something you are not telling me? If Logan needed space, he could’ve told me. If he wanted to break up with me, he should come clean. We’ve always been honest with each other. This silence—it’s not like him. Please, just tell me the truth. Is he hurt? Is he in trouble? Is he breaking up with me?”
Meredith hesitated, his gaze dropping to the ground. “I can’t say much. It’s not my place. But I promise you, he’s safe. He’ll reach out when he’s ready.”
My frustration boiled over. “When he’s ready? How am I supposed to just sit around and wait? Just wait till he pops the rejection question?”
Meredith looked at me with a mixture of sympathy and firmness. “I understand how you feel, Akira, But trust me when I say that pushing right now won’t help. Give him time.”
"Meredith, please tell me, is Wolfie planning on rejecting me?" My chest tightened as tears pricked at the corners of my eyes. "Is Wolfie picking that woman over me because she is a wolf while I am not just a mere human?"
“Is not like that,”
“Then it’s what? Tell me, Meredith, don’t hide it from me, is everything alright with Wolfie?” he parted his lips. “Tell me,
THE BEAST I LOVE IS AN ALPHA
