Chapter 032
Akira's POV
I know I shouldn't be doing this, he is Mr. Wolfie, my boss but I do not have control over everything that is happening to me, I hate the storm and it always drives me to the edge.
I sob clutching tight to Wolfie, I cross the line many times and I know that this might be the last draw, he is definitely going to fire me, for my irresponsibility and my lack of bravery.
Wolfie could feel my tense body, I hoped he did not think I was faking it and that I was only trying to get close to him.
Another loud rumble erupted the room, I flinch every time that thunder roared like a lion or probably like the howl of a wolf.
I moved closer, wishing I could hide inside his chest, slowly he cupped my shoulder as he pulled me from the couch and made me lay on him, my head resting on his chest.
"I don't like the storm... Thunder... Lighting..." I whimpered, I have astraphobia. Ever since I was a kid, all thanks to my sweet mother and sister. Thunderbolt always left me almost paralyzed.
"When I was much younger, Mother and Linda, would lock me outside the house when it was raining and would refuse to let me in even when I pleaded with them. At first, I didn't get scared because I thought it was just water but one day, it rained heavily and they were thunder and lightning. And was so scared because it was loud and I thought they were wolves that wanted to eat me. Ever since then, I couldn't be alone when it's raining, and Dad for the first time thought of my interest by installing soundproofing in my room..." I tried to explain between my tears. I noticed Wolfie was running his hand on my back, he was patting me like a child, and he was gently stroking my back. I didn't think he was this nice.
"Shh... That is enough, take in a deep breath and breathe out, I am here and no one is going to hurt you. And you should have it at the back of your mind that thunder couldn't hurt, they are like loud music, that we dance to." I chuckled, his jester somehow had a little effect on me and it made me feel secure in his hand, I wasn't even attempting to pull from his grip.
"You are safe now, Would you like me to sing a lullaby for you." I wanted to laugh at his words, can the cold CEO sing?' I murmured inwardly and then I nodded, I was a bit calm but that doesn't mean that I wasn't still scared.
He cleared his throat before his lips moved and then his soothing baritone voice came up.
“don't know much about being Nice
Don't know much about what girls like to hear
Don't know much about consoling a female.
Don't know much about the choices I made.
Don't know much about being a leader
Don't know much about life and death
But I do know that I will be happy if I make someone happy.
And I know that if ever I didn't wake up tomorrow, I did wonderful work to put a smile on someone's face.”
I plied my lashes to look at him, they were already heavy with sleep, I wrapped my hand around myself. "Those aren't lullaby, singing that for a baby, they might end up having a nightmare," I murmured.
"I know they aren't lullabies, but I guess it's not as bad as you say it is, your eyes are heavy."
"No, they are not, I am not feeling sleepy," I murmured as my words faded completely, another rumbling of thunder, erupted but I didn't move, my heavy breath came up, and darkness enveloped me completely.
"Ahem..." I heard someone clear his throat and I grunt in annoyance, it's too fucking early for anyone to disturb someone's peaceful sleep, I still fucking want to sleep. I ignored the fellow and dipped my head further into the pillow, I knew it was Vida. Something was off, this isn't as soft as a pillow and it possesses a unique scent, musky, and icy scent. 'Gosh, this is good, I could asked Vida to get me more of this fragrance. I buried my nose more into it, a bit hard but comfortable and warm.
"Akira..." I heard a muscular voice, that wasn't Vida's voice, I squinted my eyes, letting one of my lashes feather while I stared at the bearer of that voice, my eyes bulging seeing that it was Meredith.
"What are you doing here? And how did you find me?" My voice came in and rolled as I yawned and stretched before I realized that I was on top of someone, my eyes bulged seeing the position Wolfie and I were in.
Wolfie and I spent the entire night cuddling each other on the couch. We both slept in his study. My hair was scattered on his chest and my legs tangled with his, I was practically on top of him with my body pressed against his.
I jolted from the couch and the man that I was on his top, Wolfie was just there, he was looking at me with his breath held and avoiding the gaze of Meredith.
I swallowed hard as I adjusted myself and tried to pull my gown down, which was hiked up. "Mr. Meredith is not what you think?" I tried to reason with Meredith who is having a poker look, but as if that is not more embarrassing, Mr. Williamson the Butler is standing behind him. "I..." Then I realized that I should explain to my boss, "I didn't mean to take advantage of..."
"You should go with Williamson, he is going to show you a room where you can freshen up and come to the dining." His voice was cold and he wasn't attempting to stand from the couch, he was still lying there and the duvet covered the lower part of his body.
"I don't think it's necessary..."
"Don't argue with me, go with him." I swallowed hard before I nodded and went behind Williamson, I still couldn't tell if Wolfie was mad at me or if the situation was making him awkward but he didn't say anything to me, I was given clean wear, I wondered whose clothes is this, I only wish that it's not Katerina's. When I sat in the dining after having my bath, I was eating alone Butler said Wolfie was busy and that Meredith also had something doing and that he would not be joining me, I let out a sigh of relief. I had a quick breakfast and then hurried out of the main mansion, the gown, Mr. Williamson gave me was perfect, I don't know how he got my size but it was perfect and I loved it.
Just when I thought I had finally escaped Wolfie, his deep baritone voice came from behind me, "Get in the car." my eyes bulged, as I stood frozen in my spot. "get into the car, I am taking you to work."
