Chapter 127
Amelia's POV
"I couldn't lose the only female, that makes me feel like a..." I shake my head suddenly as tears fill my eyes as Maximus throws a knife towards Roe.
"No..." I heard a female scream and she ran towards us, I was ready to push Roe from me and take the knife. But the female had kicked the knife off and Maximus growled picking others but Roe was already back on his feet pushing me aside while his hand went to his waist and dragged out a knife.
He swiftly turned sideways dodging the knife that Maximus was throwing at him the second time, he dodged the knife and it flew passed him before his hand moved in a swift motion.
In no time his knife Swift in the air and went straight to the neck of Maximus.
Blood spewed out of his throat as his eyes widened and his knees buckled, he fell on his knees and yet again the young lady cheered him in excitement, my gaze moved to the young lady and then Roe, my son from another womb.
"Sorry..." She said noticing how I was looking at her, she felt embarrassed, so she lowered her gaze.
Roe dusted himself and wiped the blood off his lips before he gave me his hand to stand from the floor but his eyes were on the female and everyone around.
When he noticed the area was safe, his gaze was focused more on the female.
"What are you doing here?" He asked, my gaze moving to Roe. 'He knew her?' I said mentally and the female shrugged her shoulder, twitching her lips while she pointed ahead of us.
"Going home?"
"Home? I don't think this is a path to your house and why are you going home by this time?" Roe's voice was laced with a little anger.
"I go to work and I just got fired," She said sulking.
"Work at this time?"
"I work in a bar and I get into trouble because of some fellow and lady Cassandra didn't want to listen to me, so she got mad and fired me, so I decided to take this long route so I could get home late since there is no one at home." The young lady is a talker but she has a sweet voice and is bold. "Sorry, I will just go." She turned to leave but Roe's voice came up.
"Get into the car, I will take you home."
"What?" She screamed behind us as Roe led me to his car.
"Get in, don't make me repeat myself." He said pulling the door for me.
"I came with my car," I said softly knowing that Roe would scold me after this, he was only keeping his cool because of the female beside him. I deserve it if he gets mad at me.
"Don't worry someone will pick it up." He said and pulled the door for me.
"Okay..." I said slipping into the car not wanting to argue with him, before I could close the door, I heard him scream at the female, and his footsteps thudding on the floor.
"What the fuck? I told you to get into the car and you are running back?" He pulled her and forced her into the car. "Don't be stubborn, sit there."
"I don't want to..." He slammed the door not hearing her last words. I tittered and she moved her gaze to me, "Did you hear what I said?"
"No..." I said, still laughing, she is crazy, how could she think that I didn't hear her words when I was sitting in the same car with her and she wasn't even whispering?
"Good, you can't tell him I called him punk." She said
"What about the part you said, you want to kick his pretty ass?" Her eyes bulged I could see her expression in the mirror
"Hey, I thought you said you didn't..." her words weren't finished Roe got into the car and turned on the ignition, her eyes were fixed on me. I smirked shaking my head before she breathed out, I couldn't believe the brave girl was scared of Roe.
"Put on your seatbelt," Roe's husky voice came up, I know he was trying not to lash out at me but Roe was never the type who knew how to keep his anger in check for so long. I cleared my throat, I didn't like the tense atmosphere around us, so I decided to clear the air.
"I am sorry," I mouthed. The young lady moved her gaze from me to Roe. "I am sorry, I didn't mean to put you in that situation."
"Sorry? You shouldn't be apologizing to me, I wasn't the one in danger. It was you who was in danger. It was you who left the house to go meet up with some monsters. Gosh…” he hit the car steering wheel. “…You don't know how worried I was when I got home and you were nowhere in sight after you told me you were on your way home hours and the CCTV footage was showing how worried and desperate you wanted to go out only for me to trace you to a place filled with hooligans. What were you thinking coming here at this time of the night to meet up with the mafia boss?"
"He called, he said he needs money for him to pay what he owes the mafia boss,"
"Who called?" He asked this time his voice was low and he maneuvered his car onto the highway, he wasn't heading in our house's direction probably in the direction of the young lady.
"Todd, he called, he asked that I meet him here."
"And you want to bail a man that took your daughter..."
"No..." I screamed interrupting him. "I didn't go there because of him, find I was desperate and worried but not because of him, I got scared that he was going to use my daughter in exchange for his debt, I didn't want that, I thought if I pay off his debt then he doesn't have to drag my daughter into his mess, he told me that, if I don't come here then he is going to give Nadine in exchange for his freedoms, I don't want that, I don't want my daughter in pain, it's bad enough that I have lost seventeen years of her life not knowing what Todd had suggested her to. I will not let him push her into the hands of that monster but it turned out, Todd tricked me, he wasn't even there and Maximus didn't even tell me who bought his freedom, he asked me to leave but I was stubborn and then he changes his mind and he was..." I couldn't take the last part and I burst into tears, I don't know the reason I was crying but I was crying before I knew it, I was sobbing loudly if it's the fact that Todd tricked me again or my stupidity had put Roe in danger and the young lady behind me was already inching closer and running her hand on my shoulder to console me, my hand move and touch her hand that is on my shoulder. I needed someone to console me. "I just want to see my daughter." Roe sighed as he pulled over.
"I told you, I would get her, I wasn't lying when I said that I would do anything to find my sister." He said parking the car before he pulled out an envelope from the compartment in front of my seat and stretched it to me.
"What is this?" I asked
"The results of her DNA, you should open it."
