Chapter 143 Make Plans to Chat Another Time

Ryan grinned and swung the door open to the private room. "Ms. Grey, come on in!"

That tone in his voice made Katniss notice the eager look on his face.

"Thanks," she said, stepping inside.

The room was cozy. Tristan was there, same as always, in a white shirt and dress pants, lounging on the sofa.

The colorful lights above made his features stand out even more.

Nicholas, in a black Urban Vogue tracksuit, was still as loud as ever. When he saw Katniss, he popped a piece of fruit into his mouth and rushed over.

"Katniss, looks like you're killing it in New York City!" Nicholas said.

"Mr. Kennedy," Katniss couldn't help but smile, "hope you've been good."

Nicholas laughed and pointed to the spot next to Tristan. "Come sit and catch up."

Katniss glanced at the spot, with Tristan on one side and Saskia on the other.

Saskia eagerly patted the spot, agreeing with Nicholas.

Katniss hesitated for a moment, then sat down.

Nicholas plopped down next to Saskia and started chatting across her.

"Saskia told me you're in the education biz here?" he asked Katniss.

She nodded. "Yeah."

Nicholas asked, "And you're doing pretty well?"

Katniss replied, "Just okay, I've been pretty lucky."

That's really how she felt. There were tons of tutoring agencies in Nightfall City, and to have come this far in a year was beyond her expectations!

Nicholas grinned. "Luck and skill, you're still killing it."

"Mr. Kennedy, you're too kind." Katniss felt a bit awkward with all the praise, so she switched topics. "How about you? Taken over the Kennedy Family business yet?"

"No," Nicholas glanced at Saskia and said, "My dad says I need to settle down first. No business takeover until I get married."

Katniss was surprised for a moment, then looked at Saskia and smiled, "You're still young, no rush."

"Of course there's no rush; I'm quite the catch." Nicholas leaned back on the sofa, crossing his legs and shaking them a bit.

With just a few words, Tristan's face grew darker and darker.

He set his glass on the table, the sharp clink of porcelain cutting through their conversation.

Several pairs of eyes turned to look.

"Here to catch up?" His thin lips parted, clearly annoyed. "If you guys are so close, make plans to chat another time!"

Nicholas quickly grabbed his glass and said, "My bad, I talk too much. It's a flaw. Didn't mean to ignore Mr. Forbes. Come on, let me toast you."

He was sitting a bit far from Tristan, with Saskia and Katniss between them. So, he got up and moved to the other side of Tristan to drink.

Taking the chance, Saskia pulled Katniss to sit further to the side.

"I thought you wouldn't come," Saskia said.

Katniss glanced at the two drinking and whispered, "I had to show Mr. Kennedy some respect, plus I have some things to discuss with Mr. Forbes."

"Discuss what?" Saskia whispered back, "A relationship?"

The room was dimly lit, but Katniss could still see the mischievous look on Saskia's face.

She tugged at the corner of her mouth and smiled, "Miss Stuart, may I ask why you went to the hospital?"

As soon as she said that, Saskia's face turned red. "Just a minor injury."

"Gynecology?" Katniss asked bluntly.

Saskia looked like an angry cat. "No! He wanted to, but I ran to Nightfall City and made him a laughingstock in Velvet City. He was so mad, he drank a lot when we met, and then he pounced on me, and I accidentally injured his... you know."

Katniss was stunned, and thinking about the scene, she couldn't help but laugh.

When she laughed, Saskia couldn't help but laugh too. "Before I came to Nightfall City, both families were forcing him to marry me, and he wouldn't agree. Now that I ran away, he's feeling wronged. When he wouldn't agree to marry me, I was the one being laughed at."

Katniss hadn't asked much about their situation, but back when she was in Velvet City, the two were already entangled.

Now it seemed their fates were deeply linked.

In stark contrast to her and Tristan's accidental reunion, so she smiled and said, "Mr. Kennedy is a good person."

"Mr. Forbes is also a good person," Saskia replied. Then Katniss happily ended the topic, picked up a piece of fruit, and put it in her mouth.

Saskia didn't continue asking and instead brought up Sophia's situation, which Katniss explained one by one.

In the blink of an eye, they had been sitting for over an hour. Katniss took off her wool coat, her long hair draping over her petite frame.

She turned slightly and glanced at Tristan, who was chatting with Nicholas. Since entering, the two hadn't said a word to each other.

His legs were crossed, surrounded by smoke, his eyes deep and cool.

Nicholas got up to go to the restroom, and suddenly he turned his head.

"I need to use the restroom too." With that, Saskia also left.

The private room was left with just the two of them. It hadn't felt like anything before, but now she suddenly noticed the fresh scent of him filling her nostrils.

His gaze bore into her cheek, and her eyes fluttered a few times. Clearing her throat, she said, "Mr. Forbes, I have something to discuss with you."

He raised an eyebrow and responded with a grunt.

"About Aaron's tutoring, I plan to have him and Donna take lessons together. This way, they can have classes five days a week. What do you think?" Katniss asked politely.

After a moment of thought, Tristan said, "As long as Aaron's cool with it, I have no objections."

"He already agreed, so it's settled." Katniss then pulled out her phone to discuss with Daniel whose house the lessons would be at for those five days.

With her head down, she didn't notice Tristan's gaze darkening.

It wasn't until her phone was snatched away that she looked up at him. "What are you doing?"

Tristan's chiseled face showed a hint of anger. Was this all she had to say?

"Give it back!" Katniss frowned, trying to grab her phone when he wasn't paying attention.

Unexpectedly, he leaned back, extending the arm holding the phone even further.

His other arm, premeditated, hooked around her waist, which was so slender that one arm could encircle it.

Her hands pressed against his chest, feeling his strong heartbeat and firm muscles.

The arm around her waist tightened, forcing her to press closely against his body.

Her nose was level with his chin, just a breath away from touching. His breath brushed against her face.

This wasn't the first close contact since their reunion; the punitive kiss from last time was still vivid in her memory.

She clearly sensed his breathing becoming rapid and urgent.

Feeling uncomfortable, she moved slightly, but he suddenly hooked her chin with his other hand, forcing her to meet his cool lips as the kiss fell."

Her strong urge to push him away suddenly halted, enveloped by his overwhelming tenderness.

Their breaths intertwined, the temperature soared, and he deepened the kiss by threading his fingers through her long hair.

Her body's memory was awakened, and Katniss couldn't even think clearly.

Instinctively, she placed her hands on his firm waist.

After a long while, he released her lips, looking at her with dazed eyes and glossy red lips.

Her body was soft, completely unguarded.

This made him smirk slightly, though he was a bit frustrated by the inappropriate setting.

"We'll continue tonight," he said hoarsely.

This voice brought Katniss back to her senses. She quickly withdrew her hands from his waist.

Her ears turned bright red, and she glared at him. "Who wants to continue with you?"

She scrambled to get up, but his actions had left her with little strength, and her movements revealed her collarbone.

The raised part of her shirt faintly showed her slender waist.

Tristan's gaze deepened, and he quickly turned away. He unbuttoned two buttons on his shirt, but it didn't quell his restlessness.

He downed the drink on the table in one gulp, the cold liquid sliding down his throat. Drinking too quickly, a few drops trickled from the corner of his mouth, sliding over his Adam's apple.

The scene, filled with testosterone, made Katniss blush.

She moved further away from Tristan.

Soon, Saskia and Nicholas returned.

Saskia didn't notice anything and immediately grabbed the microphone to start singing.

Nicholas picked up a phone from the seat and asked, "Whose phone is this?"

"Mine," Katniss quickly said, getting up to retrieve her phone from the coffee table.

She decided to sit on a single sofa, keeping a safe distance from Tristan.

But her mind was already in turmoil. What did he mean by continuing tonight? They would all go home after this!

She shook her head, trying to dispel the inappropriate scenes from her mind, and opened her phone to check Daniel's message.

Daniel didn't want Tristan to have to drive Aaron to the Wilson Family every day, fearing it would trouble Tristan.

So, he chose Celestial Villas as the tutoring location for the two kids.

Since Katniss passed by Celestial Villas on her way to Daniel's house, she volunteered to take Donna to thereevery day.

With that settled, she had just put down her phone when she turned and met Tristan's gaze.

Her throat tightened, and she made an excuse to go to the restroom, quickly leaving the private room.

At the end of the hallway, in the restroom, Katniss's reflection stared back at her in the mirror.

A white V-neck top, a slender waist, and golden hair like seaweed.

Just from her back, Stanley had a sexual arousal. He whistled and walked over.

Getting closer, he realized it was Katniss and laughed. "It's you again, we must be fated!"

"Excuse me, please move," Katniss said, not even drying her hands, wanting to leave upon seeing it was Stanley.

But Stanley blocked the exit.

He slightly shifted to the left, leaving a small gap on the right, just enough to squeeze through.

"Pass through here," he said with a mischievous smile.

Katniss frowned, seeing his hand already out of his pocket, eager to do something as she squeezed past.

"How about you give me your number, and I'll let you through," Stanley suggested.

"Sorry, I'm not comfortable giving out my number," Katniss tried to remain polite.

Anyone who could appear in this club was either rich or powerful, and she wanted to avoid offending anyone.

But Stanley had no intention of moving, so she said, "Then give me your phone."

Stanley handed over his phone without hesitation, even unlocking it, watching her input a string of numbers.
