Chapter 421 Did They Get Some Dirt on Her?

"Katniss, come to the hospital." Emory got straight to the point.

Katniss's heart tightened. "What's wrong?"

"You'll know when you get here, it's urgent!" Emory hurriedly said and then hung up the phone.

Hearing this, Katniss's heart tightened; she put down her phone and carried Evie downstairs.

George was playing games by the window, and Matilda and Sophia were chatting. Seeing her rush down, they quickly stood up.

"I'm going to the hospital, you guys take care of Evie."

Sophia took Evie, and Katniss was already changing her shoes at the entrance.

Seeing her so anxious, Sophia became nervous, "Don't rush on the way, or let George drive you."

"No need." Katniss refused and quickly left, driving straight to the hospital.

She was very nervous all the way, running two red lights before arriving at the hospital.

In the ward, Tristan was tied to the bed, staring blankly at the ceiling.

Hearing the door open, he slightly turned his head to look.

Katniss's delicate face was filled with anxiety. She hurried over, staring at him for a while before turning to look at Emory, who was playing games on the sofa.

Emory was in the middle of an intense game, without looking up, he said, "You came pretty fast, you better take care of him, he keeps trying to run out to find you."

After coming back late that day, the doctor wanted to cancel his 3 PM IV injection rule, where he just needed to stay in the ward before that.

Because he was late the first time he ran out, seriously breaking trust, the doctor no longer believed him.

Katniss didn't want to be the 'bad woman' who seduced Trisan, so she had been working honestly these days.

But Tristan wasn't satisfied with just chatting and calling Katniss every day.

This was already the Nth time he tried to run out, and Emory clearly couldn't stop him anymore.

"It's almost 3 PM. he said he was afraid to eat at 8 AM, and Nicholas caught him. He tried again at lunch, I thought he would give up."

Emory started complaining, "Who knew, he tried to run out during nap time, if he ran out then he definitely wouldn't make it back for the 3 PM IV injection, so I had to call you over."

Katniss's mouth twitched, frowning at Tristan.

Tristan was tied up and couldn't move, but his sharp features showed a bit of cold arrogance. "I just wanted to get some fresh air in the garden downstairs."

"The garden downstairs?" Katniss smirked, "Whose garden downstairs?"

He was being vague, but he couldn't fool Katniss.

"Katniss, stay with him." Emory received a message, turned off his game, and quickly got up. "It's ten minutes to the IV injection, I have to go out."

Katniss responded, "Okay."

She sat down by the bed, eventually untying Tristan and rubbing his legs.

Who knows how long he had been tied up?

The place where Emory had caught him with the window was swollen for several days; it had just gone down in the past two days, but it was still red.

"Does it still hurt?" Katniss asked.

"It doesn't hurt, no feeling." Tristan saw her pursing her lips, added, "Since it's still red and swollen, it means the blood is still flowing, just the nerves are not sensitive, it's a good sign."

Katniss didn't understand these things, but she preferred a positive explanation. A smile curved her lips, "What were you trying to run out for? To find me?"

Tristan raised an eyebrow, "Besides you, no one else can tempt me out."

Katniss thought for a moment, "What about Evie? You find me a good husband, but what about Evie? In the future, when she faces finding a boyfriend and getting married, can you rest assured? Hold on, hold on until then."

Tristan frowned. If he could hold on until then, why would he find a husband for Katniss? Wouldn't he be good enough?"The one I choose is a husband for you and a qualified father for Evie, only with these two conditions can I choose." His voice was flat, deliberately suppressing some emotion.

Katniss chuckled, her teasing gaze fell on him, "Men who can meet both conditions, and I like, are very few. You take your time, the premise of taking your time is to stay in the hospital and receive treatment."

In case he didn't find one, and died first.

She didn't say it, but Tristan could already understand the meaning. His face turned grim, but he said nothing.

There was always a topic neither of them wanted to touch, lying between them.

Neither wanted to break that thin layer, to make things clearer.

Doctor's office.

Emory strode in, sat in the chair, staring at the small wooden box.

"Are you sure? This password will work?"

It had been cracked twice; the last time, if it couldn't be cracked, it would reset, then no one would know what the password was.

"My suggestion is, can we ask for the original password, what if the other party is willing to say?" The technician suggested.

Emory waved his hand, "It's not feasible."

Later, when Katniss contacted Sam, she couldn't reach him, showing that Sam was determined not to say the password.

"Then we can only try this once." The technician said, "If it doesn't work this time, we'll have to rely on luck in the future."

Hearing this, Emory couldn't help but curse, then gritted his teeth, "Do it!"

The technician immediately adjusted the password and pressed the unlock button.

The password lock opened with a click.

Several pairs of eyes stared at it, the office was so quiet that they could hear a pin drop. The next second, it erupted.

"It opened!"

"Quick, call the doctor, take the contents for testing!"

Emory's voice trembled as he took out the vial from the small box.

He had never found transparent liquid so beautiful, so precious!

A doctor immediately took the vial away, leaving Emory to give the technician a large sum of money.

But he thought it over, and didn't immediately tell Katniss and Tristan the news.

This small wooden box was their hope.

The contents were unknown; what if it was just a lie from Sam?

Living with hope was better than having hope shattered.

If the research showed it was good, he would tell them immediately.

If it was useless, there was no need to say anything.

After a long time, he returned to the ward, glancing at the two sitting by the window, watching the sunset.

"The medicine is almost out." He walked over and changed Tristan's medicine. "When we give you the IV injection, you still know to watch, but when Katniss comes, you don't look at your medicine at all, just at Katniss!"

Emory didn't hesitate to tease Tristan in front of Katniss.

Katniss just smiled without saying anything. Tristan lazily leaned back in his chair, at ease, as if it wasn't about him.

Pasta restaurant.

Ember didn't come to help, saying she was feeling unwell. After suffering a loss at Katniss's place, she returned to the pasta restaurant after the busiest time of the afternoon.

She silently put on her apron, took a cloth, and started wiping here and there.

When Jessica finished her work, she walked over. "How did it go? Did Katniss agree?"

"No," Ember said.

"Didn't you say she would definitely agree? If she didn't, you would make a big deal out of it. What happened?" Jessica saw her sullen face, something was off, "Did they catch you with something?"
