Chapter 290 Let You Send Katniss

The contact person was named Ronnie Ford, around forty years old.

The doubt deep in his eyes was not hidden at all.

After a moment of sincere eye contact with Katniss, Ronnie shook hands with her and then led her into the company.

Before coming, Katniss had already done an in-depth investigation and understanding of this place.

So when many projects were mentioned, she could chime in and quickly spot loopholes, swiftly finding solutions.

There were also some issues that required time to resolve, so she stayed directly in the company's lounge for the first three or four days.

Her decisive manner made Ronnie quickly look at her in a new light.

But others still maintained a skeptical or even disapproving attitude.

"Our branch has completed many small projects beautifully since its establishment, but there hasn't been a single major project we can showcase. This time, the project developed by our headquarters is very promising, but we lack funds. The reserve funds from White Corporation have been completely used up, and we need to find our own investors."

Another branch manager, Leroy Hamilton, was a native but grew up abroad.

He always had a very disapproving attitude towards Katniss, to the extreme.

So he immediately threw the problem of finding investors to Katniss, "This is an investment of up to 140 million dollars. Only Horizon Venture Capital has the capability, but they have always had high standards. Our small company doesn't catch their eye."

"So?" Katniss asked seriously after listening to him, "Do you want me to go and get rejected?"

"That wasn't my intention. I think since White Corporation sent you over, it proves you have the ability to solve all kinds of problems. You can definitely handle this challenge."

"Don't flatter me excessively." Katniss said while flipping through the project materials, "I was sent by White Corporation to oversee, not to take responsibility. If you want me to negotiate, I'll go, but if it doesn't work out and you want me to take the blame, then you're joking."

She wasn't in a hurry to refuse to find investors. After all, she didn't come here to sit back and relax, just to oversee.

If there was really no other way and she had to go to Horizon Venture Capital, she would go.

A one in a million chance was still a chance, right?

A few words made Leroy's face blushed, but he still wouldn't back down, "In that case, you go negotiate. We'll be your support."

"Okay." Katniss glanced at him, her bright eyes narrowing slightly, as if to say: A group of men supporting a woman, as long as he felt okay with it.

She took the project back to her office, and soon Ronnie came in.

"Katniss, don't mind it. Finding Horizon Venture Capital is just one of our plans. If it doesn't work, we have other plans."

Katniss responded, giving him a polite smile, "Then let's try the hardest but also the one that can get the most investment at once. I want to know more about Horizon Venture Capital."

Ronnie opened a webpage search, and all the information about Horizon Venture Capital came up.

It was a joint venture capital company, established seven or eight years ago, but it wasn't very prominent in the early years.

In the past three or four years, its development has been rapid, quickly reaching the top of the venture capital industry.

"The owners of this company are from your country, both of them. One of the owners is codenamed T, who is very mysterious. The other owner is stationed here. If we want to negotiate, we have to meet him. His name is Emory Buckner."

Emory was thirty-five years old, divorced, a prime candidate in the eyes of women, and a genius envied by all men.

He had a sharp eye, and no project he had chosen has failed, but it was said that the projects he chose also need T's approval, meaning T was the real decision-maker.

"Can we get an appointment?" Katniss asked directly.

Ronnie shook his head without hesitation, "He won't see a small company like ours."

After thinking for a while, Katniss asked, "What does he like? Sports, racing, or games?"

Ronnie shrugged helplessly, "He likes women. The reason for his divorce is that he was too flirtatious. He got divorced less than a year after getting married."

"Go check the places he frequents. If we can't get an appointment, we'll create a chance encounter." Katniss was used to this kind of situation.

Ronnie, who had already been eyeing Emory, had investigated everything and sent a detailed report to Katniss's email.

In a while, Katniss had finished reading it.

The twenty-fifth of each month was Emory's time for fun, not at the usual bars, but at a café.

But he still played with women, just in a different place.

Coincidentally, today was the twenty-fifth.

Katniss left work early, and when she got home, Sophia had already prepared dinner. She was in the late stages of pregnancy, with no morning sickness and just the right appetite.

She had to go out in the evening, which made Sophia nag a lot.

After she had finished her meal, she could feel the baby in her belly happily interacting with her for a while. She then put on a down jacket and left the house.

The temperature difference between here and back home was significant. It was still cold enough to wear a down jacket here in spring.

She had arranged to meet Ronnie at the café entrance, and after entering, they sat in the lobby waiting.

Emory arrived punctually at ten every night. After waiting for about half an hour, Ronnie signaled her to look at a man who had just entered.

He looked roguishly handsome, with a somewhat frivolous expression, holding a sexy woman in his arms, but his eyes were still wandering when he looked at the waiter.

"This guy is not serious, but he's very capable," Ronnie couldn't bear to look.

Katniss, however, smiled and retorted, "He knows his limits. The café is a quiet place, and he didn't disturb anyone when he came in. You can't judge a person's true nature by appearances."

Her gaze followed Emory as he went into a private room on the second floor, pondering whether to go in directly or to get acquainted first.

Before she could decide, within a while, a woman entered Emory's private room.

In no time, seven or eight women had gone in.

"I'll go upstairs and take a look. You wait here," she told Ronnie, then got up and went upstairs.

There was a waiter at the staircase on the second floor. Seeing her heading straight for Emory's private room, they didn't stop her.

They thought she was one of the women Emory had called for. Emory would call for a dozen women every twenty-fifth of the month, and they were never the same group, so the staff couldn't remember them.

So Katniss easily reached Emory's private room. Before she could knock, the door suddenly opened.

Emory's skin was as delicate as a woman's, and his eyes were round.

When he wasn't smiling, his eyes weren't slits, making him look very handsome.

When he smiled, he looked roguishly handsome.

"Mr. Buckner, hello..." She withdrew her hand from the door and introduced herself.

She didn't notice that Emory was wearing a Bluetooth earpiece in his left ear, and he was on a call. The conversation on the other end was suddenly interrupted by Katniss.

"Go away," Emory said, his face looking a bit unpleasant as he walked towards the end of the corridor, "Tristan, continue."

"Wait," Tristan suddenly said on the other end, "Who was that talking to you just now?"

Emory paused, looked back, and saw a woman with her long hair tied up, wearing a loose black down jacket. She was very beautiful, and her figure seemed a bit plump.

He whispered, "Someone from the same country, probably here to find out my whereabouts and ask for a favor."

"Listen to what she has to say," Tristan commanded without question.

Emory was extremely displeased, "A bit chubby, I like them slim."

"Stop talking nonsense."

Hearing Tristan was angry, Emory had no choice but to turn back, "Who are you?"

Katniss was a bit surprised he came back and quickly said, "Hello, I am the head of the overseas branch of White Corporation. My name is Katniss."

"Do you need something from me?" Emory got straight to the point.

Katniss, who had planned to get acquainted first, was caught off guard and had to cut to the chase, "It's about a new project we've developed. I wanted to recommend it to you and see if you're interested in investing."

Not here for his looks, Emory's face immediately darkened, "Not interested."

With that, he turned to leave.

"I'm interested, invest directly." Tristan's deep and firm voice from the Bluetooth earpiece instantly stopped Emory in his tracks.

He pressed the earpiece harder into his ear, "I know a bit about their project, 140 million dollars."

"Invest."

Emory was choked, then said, "You had me invest several hundred million dollars in the Astor family, and now you're doing the same with White Corporation. Are you trying to empty our reserves? Don't forget you still need to raise funds for big plans!"

"A hundred and forty million dollars is a mere trifle—invest it. If you find this too challenging, don't come back."

With that, Tristan hung up the phone.

Katniss had been gone for several days, and he was surprised to suddenly hear her voice on the phone today.

His thumb gently rubbed the screen, her voice echoing in his ears, she seemed to be doing well.

Finally, he sent Emory a message on Facebook: [Photo.]

Emory had already brought Katniss to another private room. Since he was willing to talk, Katniss called Ronnie up.

The two were preparing to introduce the project in detail, busy with the documents.

Emory, who received Tristan's message, was stunned for a while, then sent a selfie with a caption: [Tristan, I like women.]

Tristan replied: [Shut up, send a photo of Katniss.]

Katniss? Emory paused and messaged: [I don't know this woman.]

Then he suddenly remembered something and looked up, "Your name is Katniss?"

"Yes." Being called out, Katniss paused her actions and asked, "What's wrong?"

"Nothing." Emory leaned back on the sofa, connecting the dots in his mind.

He had heard of Katniss, sometimes interrupting Tristan's video meetings.

She had been Tristan's former assistant, but he didn't know what happened later.

But now she was the head of White Corporation's branch, probably switched jobs, likely not on good terms.

Yet Tristan was still helping Katniss, investing in her. Maybe he felt guilty.

After some wild guessing, he secretly took a photo of Katniss and sent it to Tristan.

After doing this, he turned off his phone, then looked up to see Katniss and Ronnie both staring at him.

"Mr. Buckner, your flash hurt my eyes," Ronnie joked, although there was a hint of concern in his voice.
