Chapter 435 A Simple Yet Sensational Wedding

Tristan's smile froze.

Everyone in the room was stunned.

Everyone knew Tristan had mobility issues, so no one made a fuss, but no one expected that the one who showed the least respect to Tristan today would be the usually obedient Evie.

Emory gloated, "I'm telling you, if you make my goddaughter cry, everyone here will teach you a lesson."

Tristan glanced around the room; everyone treated Evie like a treasure.

Katniss, sitting on the bed, was even more so. She let Evie hold her without saying a word, her bright eyes watching him with a half-smile.

"No!" Evie shouted again.

Tristan frowned slightly, as if thinking of something. He took out his phone from his pocket and handed it to Evie, "How about Daddy lets you play with the phone?"

Evie didn't even look at it and swatted it away.

The phone bounced a few times on the bed, almost falling to the floor.

Usually, Evie was most interested in phones, but today she didn't even look at it.

She changed from standing on Katniss's legs to sitting, her hands tightly wrapped around Katniss's neck, as if she thought someone was going to take Katniss away from her.

"Evie, be good. Your daddy and mommy are getting married." Sophia couldn't stand it anymore and walked over to explain softly, "Your mommy is getting older, and if she doesn't get married now, she might never get married. You can't stop it, okay?"

Katniss thought, 'Are you sure Evie can understand?'

Katniss frowned slightly, looking down at Evie's big eyes, feeling a pang of guilt, "If Mommy and Daddy get married, Evie will have a home, a home with both Mommy and Daddy."

She gently stroked Evie's little face, "If you don't let Mommy get married, does that mean you don't want Daddy?"

Hearing this, Evie turned her head to look at Tristan, frowning and pouting.

"Evie, be good. I have candy for you," Sophia found a piece of candy and waved it at Evie.

Evie wanted it and reached out, but she only moved to sit next to Katniss instead of on her.

Sophia coaxed Evie and signaled Tristan to start the ceremony quickly.

Neither Katniss nor Tristan understood these traditional wedding procedures; it was Emory who had found the officiant and some playful little rituals.

"Alright, now, Mr. Forbes, you can kiss your bride."

The officiant had set a lively atmosphere.

Tristan leaned forward, his hand gently caressing Katniss's cheek.

Before he could kiss her, Evie grabbed Katniss's clothes and kissed Katniss first, pushing Tristan away forcefully.

Her chubby hand covered Katniss's face, not letting him kiss her.

Tristan, stopped by his own daughter, admitted defeat. In the end, it was Sophia who coaxed and persuaded Evie out of the room.

Katniss was about to lift her skirt and go down herself when she suddenly felt a tightness around her waist and was lifted into the air.

Looking up, she saw Tristan's tense jawline. She could even feel his not-so-nimble fingers tightening.

"Put me down, I can walk by myself."

"It's okay, the doctor said I can carry you to the car." He was unmoved, turning to carry her out of the room and down a few steps outside the villa.

It was quite a struggle for him alone, let alone carrying Katniss.

However, he seemed more agile than usual, not as difficult as everyone imagined.

"Are you sure you can do this?" Katniss didn't dare move, trying to lighten his load.

In response, Tristan steadily descended the steps one by one.

She opened her mouth in surprise, gripping his shirt tighter.

Something was off; he usually didn't walk this smoothly.

He must have done something, hiding it from her.

She pursed her lips, her eyes slightly teary, and rested her head in the crook of his neck.

At the hotel, Emory was playing with Evie in a corner. With more people around and Emory keeping her occupied, Evie was distracted and didn't notice her parents getting married on stage, so she didn't make a fuss.

The wedding ceremony went smoothly, which was just a step for Katniss.

But without this step, she would feel incomplete. Now that it was done, she felt fulfilled.

There were only two or three tables of guests, all close friends.

Everyone sat down, chatted, laughed, and talked about happy things before dispersing.

The wedding was extremely simple, but it had all the necessary procedures.

Katniss felt very fulfilled, her attention entirely on Tristan.

So she didn't notice Adelaide's pale face, glancing at Evie in the corner several times, always looking like she wanted to say something but didn't.

The wedding was not open to the public, but the media heavily publicized it, with the wedding costing millions of dollars, which was true.

There were just fewer people.

Tristan didn't come away empty-handed from this wedding.

He gained Evie's resistance.

For some reason, Evie's possessiveness over Katniss was much stronger in front of him.

As if he would take Katniss away, and Evie would lose her mom.

Whenever Tristan got close to Katniss, Evie would start shouting.

Even on the wedding night, Tristan was kicked out of the bridal chamber.

In the middle of the night, Emory sent a message saying that the city center police had caught a Bullmastiff running around the streets.

However, the Bullmastiff had something on its mouth, preventing it from biting anyone.

There was indeed a small bottle of medicine on its neck, which had been sent directly to the hospital for examination.

Emory thought Lucas must have set a trap; how could he have handed over the medicine so easily?

Using a Bullmastiff to scare people.

Tristan told him not to worry and to wait for the hospital's test results before making any decisions.

The wedding night was beyond Katniss's expectations, and the way she woke up the next day also surprised her.

She was awakened by the sound of an argument downstairs.

Among the noisy voices, Ember and Jessica's voices were very clear.

She quickly got up and went downstairs, just in time to see Ember and Jessica trying to force their way upstairs.

Sophia tried to stop them, but was pushed down the steps by Ember.

"What are you doing?" Tristan frowned, looking like he had just been woken up, with some red, bloodshot eyes.

The noise immediately made Ember and Jessica freeze, instinctively taking two steps back.

Katniss quickly went down and helped Sophia up, "Mom, are you okay? Did you hurt yourself?"

"I'm fine," Sophia waved her hand, "I don't know how they got in, but they insist on going upstairs, saying they want money for a house."

"Katniss, I'm here for the money," Jessica said, holding her pregnant belly and putting her hands on her hips, "I'm due in a few months. How could you have the nerve to take most of Rupert's assets as a gift? That was all Rupert's hard-earned money!"

Ember rolled up her sleeves and put her hands on her hips, "You're so rich, but you didn't buy me a house or help Rupert. How dare you take his money? If you don't give it back today, it's not over!"
