Chapter 363 Sam and I Are Friends

Guessing back and forth without any clue, George decided to leave the restaurant to fix his phone and planned to ask Matilda about it when he got home in the evening.

White Corporation.

Katniss received messages from Valentin and Aubrey, who admitted that they had made some mistakes years ago before they got their current positions, and Travis had a hold over them because of it.

So they had no choice but to help Travis.

"If Miss Grey can help us solve this problem, the project in the neighboring city will definitely be in White Corporation's pocket," Aubrey promised.

"Mr. Soderberg, Mr. McGinnis, I want to help you, not threaten you. Otherwise, I would be no different from Travis. Let me reiterate, I just want to go against him. Don't worry, I will do my best to help you."

Katniss wasn't interested in the project in the neighboring city because if the project failed, Travis would have offended Valentin and Aubrey, and Synergy Global Corporation would be on the path to destruction.

By then, she wouldn't even need to take action.

"Travis must have those pieces of evidence tied to his belt," Samuel said after understanding the situation, "How are you going to get them? You probably can't even get close to Travis."

This was indeed a problem, but it wasn't her current focus.

With her fingers against her chin, she asked Samuel, "How do you think the evidence of the mistakes they made years ago ended up in Travis's hands?"

And it must be solid evidence to make Valentin and Aubrey so fearful and controlled by him.

"This..." Samuel couldn't understand either, "Logically, after so many years, unless they or someone they colluded with kept the evidence, otherwise... some trivial evidence would have been destroyed long ago."

They might have evidence in their hands, but they definitely wouldn't hand it over to Travis.

That means they once colluded with someone they shouldn't have, and the other party kept the evidence.

"Forget it," Katniss didn't have time to think about it, "Go check who Ivy has been in contact with."

Samuel seemed to remember something, "Some time ago, I heard some rumors that Ivy was seen entering and leaving an entertainment club late at night. There were even some photos circulating, but they were suppressed later."

"Entertainment club?" Katniss's intuition made her deny that it was Ivy. What was Travis doing?

Could he tolerate his wife going to an entertainment club every day to have fun?

However, she wouldn't let any clue slip by, "Then have someone keep an eye on Ivy."

"I remember the report said Ivy goes to that entertainment club every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Today happens to be Thursday. Do you want to try your luck?" Samuel thought it would be better to stake out at the entertainment club than to have someone follow her alone.

Scenes of the entertainment club flashed through Katniss's mind, followed by the warm scenes of Evie and Tristan at home. She hesitated, feeling a pang of guilt.

"What?" Samuel chuckled, "Mr. Forbes doesn't allow you to go?"

"Are you kidding?" Katniss denied decisively, "I just don't like that kind of place. Fine, I'll go tonight."

Samuel saw through her but didn't say anything, "Alright, let's go together."

In the evening, she lied about working overtime and went to the entertainment club with Samuel.

"Here's the plan, you go inside and take a look around, I'll stay outside and keep watch." The entertainment club was large, so they had to divide the work.

Samuel followed her instructions, got out of the car, and went into the club. She sat in the car for about ten minutes, feeling suffocated.

So she got out of the car and squatted between two cars.

"No one," Samuel came out after a round, "It's still early. Ivy probably hasn't arrived yet. But even if she does, what are you going to do? Take some photos to threaten her and exchange them for the evidence?"

This wasn't impossible, but the chances of success were slim.

What if Ivy and Travis cared more about the project than their dignity?

"I was thinking, if the person who comes here regularly is really her, then she must be coming for a specific person."

Katniss looked at Samuel and whispered, "Arrange for someone to gain Ivy's trust, go home with her, and steal the information?"

Samuel's mouth twitched, "What kind of dream are you having? If Ivy dares to bring a man home, isn't she asking for trouble?"

She had this idea, but it wasn't very feasible.

But no matter what, they had to try.

Suddenly, a familiar scent of perfume wafted over. Before Katniss could recall where she had smelled it before, Lucas appeared in front of her.

"Katniss, are you here for fun?"

Samuel turned his head and looked at Katniss with a strange expression, seemingly curious about when she got to know such a heartthrob.

Katniss noticed that Lucas was wearing colored contact lenses, turning his light blue eyes into brown.

But he could still be recognized as mixed-race at a glance.

"Here to find someone," Katniss said with a smile.

"Is this gentleman your boyfriend?" Lucas asked again.

Samuel: That gentleman is the same age as Katniss.

Katniss saw his unpleasant expression and couldn't help but laugh, worried that Lucas's presence would make them too conspicuous. If Ivy really came and saw them, it would alert her.

She invited Lucas to a nearby ice cream shop to have a drink and took him away.

Lucas talked a lot, mostly 'nonsense,' asking her all sorts of questions.

She occasionally answered a few, even mentioning that she had a child.

However, judging by Lucas's expression, he didn't believe her at all.

"Katniss, we have a special connection, don't you feel it?" At the ice cream shop, Katniss paid for three drinks.

While waiting for the drinks, they found a place to sit, and Lucas spoke first.

Katniss thought he was just a talkative, slightly scheming young boy.

"I meet a lot of people every day, talk to people I've never met before, and even help them. Is that what you call a special connection?"

Lucas was silent for a moment, then said, "Do you know Sam?"

Katniss's face changed, looking at him in surprise.

"I know you used to be the executive assistant to the former president of Synergy Global Corporation, and Sam is the son of the current president of Synergy Global Corporation. You should know him, right?" Lucas saw that she finally wasn't being dismissive and smiled with narrowed eyes.

There were many couples and young girls playing around, and conversations were constantly heard.

But nothing could drown out the echo of "Do you know Sam?" in Katniss's ears.

"Don't worry, Sam and I are good friends," Lucas raised an eyebrow, "He's the stepson of his father. He despises his stepfather and is ruthless towards his own son."

"Wait a minute," Katniss had to interrupt him, "Are you and Sam so close that you even talk about this?"

Lucas became even more smug, "Of course, Sam and I are as close as brothers."

At this point, Katniss had nothing to say, not knowing what to say.

She didn't particularly like or dislike Lucas.

But she felt a sense of distance.

Anything related to Travis, Ivy, and Sam made her inexplicably wary.

"Katniss, I heard you say you want to steal something from Sam's stepfather?" Lucas's voice wasn't low.

The word 'steal' drew strange looks from the people around them.

Katniss looked at him with a complicated expression, "I bought you a drink, from now on, let's pretend we don't know each other. Goodbye."

Their drinks were ready, and Katniss took hers and Samuel's and got up to leave.

Lucas, in a hurry, didn't even take his own drink and chased after her, "Katniss, don't be wary of me. I'm really a good person, and so is Sam. If you want to steal something, just tell me, and I'll have Sam steal it for you!"

In his words, Sam was like a robot, doing whatever he was told.

"Lucas, that's enough. I'll handle my own matters. You kids should stay out of it. From now on, let's pretend we don't know each other."

Katniss turned back and said sternly to Lucas, "Even if we meet, don't come and greet me."

With that, she turned and left.

Perhaps scared by the seriousness in her eyes, Lucas didn't follow.

After the commotion with Lucas, Katniss gave the drink to Samuel, and they drove away.

She suspected that Lucas would tell Sam about her plan to steal evidence from Travis.

That would be the same as telling Travis, making all her efforts in vain.

Not long after she left, Ivy arrived at the entertainment club.

She was no longer the elegant and dignified woman she usually was, now wearing heavy makeup and a shoulder-baring short dress, slightly plump and very charming.

As soon as she got out of the car, she saw Lucas standing not far away, her eyes changed, and she turned to walk towards him, "What are you doing here..."

Katniss returned home with the scent of perfume on her.

She had said she would be working late, so they didn't need to wait for her for dinner.

When she entered, the dining table hadn't been cleared, and Sophia had just thrown the last bit of leftovers into the trash.

"Aren't you working late?" Sophia asked, holding an empty plate, "Did you eat?"

"I didn't eat, but I'm not hungry, so I won't eat." Katniss changed her shoes and helped Sophia clean up the dishes, chatting about Matilda in the process.

She didn't know how George resolved the meeting with his childhood fiancée that night, as Matilda hadn't mentioned it again.

While Katniss was cleaning up, Tristan suddenly entered the kitchen, taking the items from Sophia's hands, "You go help Evie with her bath. It's not appropriate for me."

Giving Evie a bath was always done by Sophia or Katniss, as Tristan was a man.

Sophia quickly washed her hands and took Evie to the bathroom upstairs.

Katniss had just thrown a dish into the sink when Tristan suddenly grabbed her and pushed her into a corner.

"Which man smells so good? So good that you lied about working late?" Jealousy filled the kitchen.

Tristan's eyes were very serious, staring at her, waiting for a proper answer.

"What man smells so good?" Katniss couldn't smell Lucas's perfume on herself, "Are you a bloodhound?"

"If I were a dog, I'd bite you first." Tristan's expression changed, and he lowered his head to sniff her again, "No taste, terrible perfume."
