Chapter 320 She's Moving!

Katniss looked up at his tense face. His every word seemed to be squeezed out through gritted teeth, his eyes filled with anger.

She wondered if he wanted to strangle her, and also wondered if she had wronged him in some way.

But clearly, she was doing it for his good, and if you think about it, she was the 'victim' here!

His hand, firmly gripping her waist, tightened around her slender waist, and even his short hair seemed to radiate anger.

"No ignoring my calls, no ignoring my texts, no avoiding me. I know what's going on, you don't need to worry about it."

Seeing her big, watery eyes blinking, looking a bit dazed in his arms, he couldn't bear it and his tone softened a lot.

"So what don't you know?" Katniss retorted.

"I don't know when you'll let go of the barriers in your heart. I don't want to force you, but my patience is limited. If you push me to the brink, I won't consider your feelings anymore." He poked her heart, "No one else can be here but me. You can only be with me."

Finally, he grabbed her hand and placed it on his chest, "Anyway, in here, it's all you."

Katniss's bright eyes glistened, she turned her head away to avoid looking at him. He bent down and kissed her hard on the lips, then let her go.

"Go back." He said in a deep voice, watching her woodenly turn and walk up the steps. He quickly opened the car door and got in.

He was afraid that he might lose control of his emotions and drag her into the car to take her away, never allowing her to leave him again.

Emory was very clever. After returning home, he deliberately tried to take Evie, but Matilda and Aaron naturally wouldn't let him.

Then he used this opportunity to ask about the situation between Katniss and Tristan.

Matilda didn't want to say, after all, it was her first time meeting Emory, but Sophia had met Emory before and knew he was trustworthy.

So she signaled to Matilda that it was okay to talk.

To hold Evie a little longer, Matilda told him, regardless of whether Emory could understand or not.

But the fact was, Emory didn't understand, he had to guess, but he guessed most of it.

As soon as Katniss came back, Emory grabbed her like he was interrogating a criminal, making her sit on the sofa, staring at each other.

"Katniss, I just have one question, is Evie Tristan's biological daughter?"

"Yes." Katniss nodded and admitted, then asked, "I also have one question, have you ever told Tristan that Evie is my child?"

Emory let out a howl and jumped up from the floor, heartbroken. "I only have this one goddaughter, I'm so proud of her, I send Tristan her photos to show off, and it turns out she's his biological daughter."

He lay on the floor, pounding his chest and the floor, "It's not fair!"

Katniss's mouth twitched as she watched his performance, her mind in a mess.

"Wait." He seemed to think of something, got up and looked at Katniss, "But you don't seem to plan on telling Tristan that you gave birth to his daughter?"

Emory only knew that there was a conflict between Katniss and Tristan, but he didn't know the details about Adelaide's involvement.

Anyway, he knew most of it, so Katniss told him everything.

Emory's face gradually grew serious as he listened, "This is indeed her fault, it's understandable that you have barriers in your heart, but I want to say that her move was rather short-sighted; women are women, especially an old woman who likes to make decisions on her own, it's infuriating. Tristan has long planned to empty Synergy Global Corporation, otherwise, do you think it could be done overnight?"

Emory's resources abroad were all moved back by Tristan, and all the money was spent by Tristan.

"Otherwise, he loves you so much, would he marry you without preparation, let you have children and put you in danger?" Emory said sarcastically, "But I have to say, Evie is very dangerous now, the Forbes family rules passed down for thousands of years are harmful."

Katniss didn't speak, leaning on the sofa thinking about what Tristan had just said, "I seem to be a bit confused."

"I'll help you sort it out." Emory leaned over and said seriously, "Adelaide is not clear-headed, ignore her. As long as you love Tristan, that's enough, you'll be together sooner or later. But to be honest, now is not the right time. Don't be afraid of the White family, don't be afraid of Travis targeting you, but you have to consider Evie's safety."

He turned to look at Evie playing with Matilda and Aaron, she couldn't even smile yet, but she was so heart-wrenching. "Such a small child can't withstand any turmoil. If Travis goes crazy and threatens Evie's life, it will be too late to regret."

He made sense, nothing was more important than protecting Evie.

"But you and Tristan are openly flirting..." Emory didn't finish his sentence. Seeing Katniss's glare, he immediately changed his tone, "You two are still emotionally entangled, do whatever makes you happy, just don't expose Evie for now."

Katniss looked at him seriously and asked, "You're his friend, but Adelaide has nothing to do with you, aren't you afraid that if we're so blatant, she'll be infuriated?"

"She has no sense, why do you care about her?" Emory said matter-of-factly.

She didn't want to care either, but that was Tristan's biological grandmother, and everything she did, whether it was excessive or not, was for Tristan.

She wasn't worried about Adelaide, she was worried that Tristan would be upset and feel guilty.

"But let me remind you, a child needs their father's presence while growing up. Tristan missing out would be a lifelong regret." Emory sniffed and gave her a look, "I have an idea, want to hear it?"

Katniss felt he was up to no good.

"You two handle your relationship, and leave Evie's interaction with him to me." Emory patted his chest, "I came back with all my resources from abroad to fully support him, we're practically together every day. I work from home, so he has to come to my place. By then, Evie will be with me, what do you think?"

It was a good idea, Katniss thought, but she felt he might have other motives.

His eyes gleamed, and she could almost imagine him showing off Evie in front of Tristan.

Feeling exposed, Emory didn't pretend anymore, leaning back on the sofa casually, "Right now, I'm her Godfather, and Tristan is nothing. If you don't let me show off for a few days, once they recognize each other as father and daughter, do you want me to be miserable?"

"Don't overdo it." Katniss warned, "Your current show-off will be met with double the retaliation from Tristan in the future."

"Even if I don't show off, he'll still retaliate." Emory couldn't imagine how Tristan would deal with him for hiding the truth about Evie being his daughter.

Might as well enjoy it while it lasts!

"Deal then." Katniss agreed, mainly because Natalia had been busy arranging blind dates for Emory recently.

At home, only Sophia was looking after Evie, and these days, Sophia's face visibly showed fatigue.

It wasn't fair to always rely on Sophia alone.

She had to admit, although Emory seemed unreliable, he had a clear mind and quickly helped her sort out the messy situation.

During the day, when she was fully focused on work, Tristan would occasionally pull her into playful text exchanges.

Sometimes, he would call her during lunch, and she found out a few times that he was in a meeting while keeping the call going.

Even if they didn't say anything, they kept the call connected.

At night, she would focus on taking care of Evie.

Tristan was quite satisfied with her compliance, and he had no idea that Emory insisted on working from home to take care of Evie.

This was his first time seeing Evie since returning to the country, and at three months old, Evie had just learned to lie on her stomach.

When lying down, her big round eyes were watery and beautiful.

But when she first propped herself up, the chubby cheeks sagged a bit, and Tristan thought she looked a little ugly.

"What?" Emory leaned over with a smug smile, "Stunned? Isn't she beautiful?"

Tristan withdrew his gaze, lifted his eyelids to look at Emory, and asked, "What do you mean? Didn't you ask me here to work? Now you're making me babysit."

"Of course not." Emory spread his hands, "I can work with Evie just fine. You better call those executives coming over and tell them no smoking, there's a child here."

He was serious, and Tristan frowned, "Are you kidding? Working with Evie?"

"Why not? Can't I?" Emory sat down, picked up Evie, who was already seventeen pounds, very heavy!

Her chubby arms had rolls.

Holding her like this made her look cuter, and from this angle, she couldn't see Tristan.

But her little head lifted, and she tried to look at Tristan from Emory's arm.

The words 'no way' got stuck in Tristan's throat, "I'm worried you can't take care of her."

"If I can't, isn't that what you're here for?" Emory nudged his chin, indicating the formula on the coffee table, "Feed her every two hours, it's time now. After feeding, we can have our meeting. When I talk, you hold her, and when you talk, I hold her."

He couldn't believe what he was hearing, it was simply unbelievable.

But with Evie's big eyes staring at him, his heart softened, too soft to refuse.

"Don't know how to make formula?" Emory handed Evie to him, "Come on, hold Evie, I'll make it."

Tristan had held her once, when she was just born.

She was softer then, but for some reason, he was afraid to hold her now.

Seeing this, Emory directed him to sit on the sofa, then forcibly placed Evie in his arms, letting her head rest on his arm, and pulled his other hand to support her bottom.

His body stiffened, feeling like Evie was even softer now, and he couldn't hold her properly!

As soon as Emory left, Tristan hurriedly said, "She's moving! She moved!"

Evie's legs kicked twice, startled by his sudden words, she looked at him with her mouth open, dumbfounded.

Emory turned around and saw them staring at each other, one panicked and the other adorable, he decisively took out his phone to take pictures, "Great, look here, smile for the camera, one more."
