Chapter 413 Don't you know in your heart?

Tristan explained while sending messages to Ryan, investigating the owner of that budget hotel.

He also asked Nicholas to call Daniel, hoping Donna could clarify what exactly happened that night.

The group stayed in the car, handling these matters.

In the quiet car, the sound of text messages or phone calls kept ringing.

After a long while, Nicholas threw his phone into the storage box. "Daniel said Donna was quite traumatized. After all, she's still young and has always been a good girl. She woke up without clothes on Aaron's bed and was scared out of her wits. She hasn't said a word since. We need to wait until Donna calms down before we can find out what really happened."

"We still have a few days to work on this, don't worry."

Tristan had already contacted Ryan, put away his phone, and asked Nicholas to drive Katniss home.

Katniss took a deep breath and said, "Why did you run out of the hospital?"

"I knew you would lose control over Aaron's situation and be worried." Tristan's large hand circled her back, pulling her into his arms, "I'm still here now, I can help you handle things."

When things happened, she could lean back.

Katniss thought she could wait for Tristan to get back to her about Aaron's situation.

No need to do it herself, just like those days when Tristan wasn't around, handling everything on her own.

It was really good to have him here.

She rested her head on his shoulder, closed her eyes, and recharged.

"No need to go home, it's almost dawn, I'll go to the hospital." She grabbed a few of his fingers and said.

Evie and Sophia were already asleep by now, going back would just wake them up.

At the fork between the hospital and home, Tristan decisively had Nicholas drive to the hospital.

The bed in the VIP ward was large, and Katniss quickly fell asleep after lying down, curling up in his arms.

Katniss's hand rested on his chest, her long hair scattered, the ends just resting in his palm.

He gently rubbed that strand of hair with his fingertips, almost unable to feel it due to nerve degeneration.

Yet it felt like he could feel it, continuously rubbing it.

After a long while, he moved his body, lowered his head, and kissed her on the top of her head.

"Don't move." Katniss was not sleeping soundly, dreaming about how to solve Aaron's situation.

She moved closer to his neck, her breath warm on his ear.

He couldn't stay still, after all, his body still had sensations everywhere except the extremities.

Once Katniss was sleeping more soundly, Tristan carefully withdrew his hand, got out of bed, grabbed his coat, and left the ward.

Emory arrived early in the morning and couldn't help but be curious when he saw him coming out, "Where are you running off to so early?"

"Don't go in." Tristan stopped him from entering the ward, "Katniss is still sleeping, I'm going to get her breakfast."

"Katniss?" Emory paused, seeing the seriousness in his eyes, and quickly withdrew his hand.

Realizing what was happening, he followed Tristan, starting to nag, "We've been taking care of you for days, making sure you eat and drink, not letting you leave the ward, and now... Katniss comes, you give up the bed and go get her breakfast!"

Emory was indignant and jealous.

Tristan shut him down with one sentence, "I want to, you wouldn't understand since you don't have a wife."

Emory, feeling emotionally wounded, clutched his chest and stared wide-eyed at Tristan as he walked towards the hospital cafeteria.

Breakfast was quickly bought, but Katniss hadn't woken up.

The bed still carried Tristan's scent, and she curled up under the blanket, having a solid sleep.

Sunlight streamed in, hitting her eyes, causing her to frown unconsciously.

The next second, the blinding sunlight disappeared, her brows relaxed, and she continued to sleep.

Around ten, she gradually woke up.

Looking up, she saw Tristan sitting at the bedside, bathed in sunlight, shielding her from the glaring light of almost noon.

She raised her hand to smooth his slightly furrowed brow, "Did I oversleep? Aaron..."

Emory, getting up from the sofa, shouted, "There's someone here!"

Katniss was startled; she just wanted to ask about Aaron, but Emory made it seem like she was undressing.

"Ryan is still tracking the budget hotel owner, looking for any suspicious points. As for Daniel, it might take a couple of days."

Tristan glared at Emory, ignoring him, and smoothed Katniss's messy hair, "Don't worry too much. Since Eudora used underhanded methods to frame Aaron, if necessary, we can use underhanded methods to resolve it."

To deal with people with no bottom line, you couldn't use normal means.

Although it would be best to clear Aaron's name and give everyone an explanation, having a backup plan wasn't a bad idea.

"Some people talk big, but in the end, it's me doing the dirty work, right?" Emory, preparing for the underhanded methods, said sarcastically, "I wonder if Ms. Grey will be grateful to Tristan or me."

Katniss propped herself up, combed her long hair into a bun, and sat cross-legged on the bed. "Let's get this done first."

Tristan had already gotten up to get her breakfast; there was a microwave in the ward, just needed to heat it.

Emory watched Tristan serve Katniss and sighed, "Some people, putting love before friendship, bought breakfast early and didn't want to disturb you, even told me to keep quiet, and shielded you from the sun."

"Seriously, why did you contact us when you got into trouble? Katniss would be sad, but wouldn't Nicholas and I be sad too?"

Hearing this, Katniss glanced at Tristan.

He was saved by the Nguyen family, of course, he had to contact his family.

If he couldn't reach family, the police would notify them, and she would find out soon.

So he didn't contact Katniss but chose to contact Nicholas and Emory.

"Friends are meant to be used, right?" Tristan unpacked the utensils for Katniss and pushed the oatmeal in front of her. "Eat while it's hot."

He didn't care about Emory's jealousy.

Of course, he didn't mind discussing this in front of Katniss; nothing to hide.

"You really are..." Emory, angry, stood up on the sofa, wanting to hit someone.

Katniss instinctively shielded Tristan with her hand, "What are you doing? He's a patient, how can you argue with a patient?"

Emory was even angrier, "Katniss, who made you search for three months? Who almost made you depressed during that time? Don't you know?"

"Can you make some sense? You always want to outshine me in his heart, isn't that wishful thinking? Besides, he didn't tell me because he loves me, you and Nicholas not telling me is what's really hurtful." Katniss argued, directing Emory, "Sit back down, stay away from him."

Before Emory could retort, his phone suddenly rang. He didn't bother arguing, answered the call, and after a few words, his expression changed drastically, "What?"
