Chapter 232 We had a Small Disagreement
A combination of urgency and impatience, Nicholas was afraid she would escape again. His warm hand hooked onto the thin strap of her camisole.
With a fierce tug, the strap snapped, and the dress slid down her body, hanging at her waist.
She felt a chill and instinctively crossed her arms over her chest, but he quickly restrained her wrists.
He lowered his head, seriously observing her barely covered state. His eyes were eyes deep like black holes, capable of drawing a person in.
Saskia's face turned bright red, and she instinctively covered her front with her elbows, which only displeased him.
He licked his dry lips, his fingers threading through her hair, venting the desire that had been stirred within him.
Perhaps he was serious this time; no matter how Saskia resisted, she couldn't break free. She eventually gave up resisting, sinking into this forced act of lovemaking.
Nicholas looked somewhat thin, but once he took off his shirt, his chest was quite muscular.
When he got serious, his usually unruly face took on a more earnest look, making it hard to look away.
The entryway, the sofa, the carpet in the upstairs bedroom, the bathroom.
There was no place Saskia could think of that Nicholas couldn't manage.
Unlike the poor experience when Nicholas was forced that night, this time, their bodies reached a certain level of harmony.
Two hours later, Nicholas carried Saskia out of the bathroom, got into bed, and covered them both with a thin blanket.
He held Saskia's waist tightly, suddenly understanding what it meant that everyone was different.
He turned the already drowsy Saskia's body around and woke her up. "Saskia, I'm going back to Velvet City tomorrow to break off my engagement with Isla. Will you come with me?"
Saskia was so tired she couldn't open her eyes, her body too sore to even lift her eyelids.
She heard Nicholas's words and angrily said, "You woke me up in the middle of the night just to say this? Can't it wait until tomorrow?"
Nicholas suddenly remembered something, "I came to tell you that Katniss and Tristan had a fight. Do you want to come with me to Velvet City to watch the drama?"
Hearing this, Saskia was stunned for a few seconds, then suddenly opened her eyes wide, "Nonsense, Katniss would never fight with Tristan."
Katniss was mature and rational, and Tristan loved her. How could them possibly fight?
"Really, if you don't believe me, ask Katniss!" Nicholas guaranteed.
This made Saskia fully awake. She took out her phone and saw it was already past midnight, but she didn't care and immediately sent a message to Katniss.
The call was hung up, and there was no reply on Facebook.
Katniss's excuse fell apart on its own. She ate a few bites of food but found her cooking tasted terrible.
She decisively threw away the remaining food and cleaned up the messy kitchen.
Holding her phone, she went back upstairs, took a shower, and got into bed, trying to act as if nothing was wrong, but she couldn't fall asleep no matter how much she tossed and turned.
Finally, she couldn't resist and opened her phone to browse Facebook.
Then she saw a photo Eudora had posted an hour ago.
In the picture, Tristan was leaning back in a chair with his eyes closed, looking tired and there was also a takeout box.
So, he wasn't answering her calls or messages because he was having dinner with Eudora?
She could tolerate him being angry, and she could patiently explain.
But she absolutely couldn't tolerate Tristan handling things this way. A sour feeling rose in her heart, and she was instantly wide awake.
Remembering she had work the next day, she put down her phone and forced herself to sleep.
The night was long, and moonlight filled the room. She kept turning over on the bed from time to time.
The sound of a Facebook message suddenly rang out in the dead of night. She sat up as if on springs and took her phone.
Seeing the message was from Saskia, she felt a deep sense of disappointment.
[Did you and Tristan have a fight?]
The straightforward question stunned her. It wasn't a serious fight. He hadn't even given her a chance to argue.
But given their current situation, what else could it be called?
After thinking it over, she found a precise way to describe it. [We had a small disagreement.]
As soon as she sent it, Saskia's video call came through. Both had their bedside lamps on, the light dim but enough to see each other's situation.
Katniss immediately noticed the fresh hickey on Saskia's neck and guessed what had happened, but she didn't mention it.
"What kind of disagreement has you alone in the middle of the night?" Seeing her take the video call, Saskia knew Tristan wasn't with her.
Nicholas curiously leaned in but stayed off-camera, listening intently to Katniss.
The situation was complicated, and Katniss summarized it briefly. "Mrs. Forbes has been pressuring me to get pregnant. I've mentioned it to Tristan twice, but he's adamant about not having kids yet. But a few days ago, Mrs. Forbes tampered with the condoms, and this morning Tristan found out and thought I did it."
"About the kids..." Saskia's expression was complex. "I can understand why Tristan is particularly cautious. The Forbes family rules state that having an heir entitles one to inherit all the Forbes family shares."
Currently, the Forbes family shares were under Travis. According to the Forbes family rules, Tristan was the first in line to inherit. As soon as he had a child, the shares would naturally transfer to him.
Saskia knew about this because she overheard someone from the Astor family.
The Astor family wanted to marry Bella into the Forbes family, so they had thoroughly investigated everything about the Forbes family.
Katniss understood, no wonder Adelaide kept urging her to get pregnant.
"Tristan can't put you and the child in danger. His concern has made him irrational, and it's a shame to let a misunderstanding ruin things." Saskia rationally advised Katniss, "No matter what, you should explain it to him. If he doesn't understand, you can come back to Nightfall City."
Nicholas nudged Saskia from the side and whispered angrily, "Aren't you coming with me to Velvet City? What do you mean by going back to Nightfall City?"
"Who said I was going with you? Let's talk when you break off your engagement!" Saskia replied impatiently.
The two of them started arguing, and Katniss couldn't get a word in, so she hung up the phone.
A child could indeed solve all the problems, but Tristan's firm stance was to protect her and the child.
Katniss felt uneasy, just as Saskia said, he was too concerned and thus became irrational.
After a long while, she took a deep breath and decided to talk to Tristan about this matter the next day.
But she still couldn't sleep and finally took a sleeping pill.
The next morning, her alarm went off before she woke up. She hurriedly got up, washed, changed clothes, and called Aaron to go next door for breakfast.
"What's wrong with you?" Aaron asked, concerned, "You look terrible. Didn't you sleep well?"
Katniss touched her face. Was it that obvious?
She frowned and said, "Maybe I'm just not used to being back in Velvet City. It's nothing. I'll be fine. Don't play around too much these days; remember to review your high school courses."
"Got it." Aaron's mischievous demeanor had lessened a lot, and he added, "When I go to school, can I not stay in the dorm?"
Katniss answered him while opening the door, "Even if you don't stay in the dorm, you'll only be home to sleep at night. I'm busy with work and won't have much time to spend with you. As long as you don't mind, it's up to you."
Aaron's face lit up, "Then I won't stay in the dorm!"
Since he made his choice, Katniss didn't object.
Matilda's leg injury made it inconvenient for her to move, so Katniss made breakfast, which didn't taste very good.
Aaron complained, "Matilda, you better get your leg healed soon. If Ms. Grey keeps cooking, I'll lose ten pounds."
"Don't worry, I'll prepare a feast for you tonight." Matilda didn't think much of her leg injury.
Katniss rolled her eyes at Aaron and asked Matilda, "I'm going to the educational institution later. If you have any important matters, let me know, and I'll handle them."
Hearing this, Matilda nodded and quickly finished her breakfast, and the two had a brief discussion.
As September approached, there seemed to be more people on the streets, with students of all grades out.
On her way to the educational institution, Katniss's mind was filled with thoughts, and Tristan kept popping into her head, no matter how hard she tried to suppress it.
Upon arriving at the educational institution, she first dealt with urgent matters. Once she had some free time, she arranged to have lunch with Tristan.
Remembering that he didn't even answer her calls yesterday, Katniss decided to call Ryan.
"Ms. Grey, if you want to have lunch with Mr. Forbes, why not contact him directly? Why call me?" Ryan was unaware of the argument between them.
Katniss paused and said, "Please convey the message for me, and let me know his response."
"There's no need to wait. Mr. Forbes has no lunch appointments today." Ryan said without hesitation. There was a not-so-important lunch meeting that could be canceled!
"You should still ask him." She repeated her request for Ryan to ask, and Ryan agreed. After hanging up, he went into Tristan's office.
Coincidentally, Tristan was on a call with Lila, discussing a project.
Seeing Ryan enter, Tristan gestured for him to stay quiet.
"Mr. Forbes, I won't sign this contract without meeting you in person. If you think I'm someone who doesn't keep their word, go ahead and delay it." Lila's words were blunt.
Lila might not have a great reputation among women, but she was known for keeping her word.
The contract had already been delayed for over a week. Daniel had been repeatedly turned away and was too embarrassed to ask Tristan for help.
Previously, Tristan was unaware of Lila's demands, but now that he knew, he couldn't let Daniel continue to struggle.
After Lila said something else, Tristan hung up the phone and looked at Ryan with a serious expression, "What's the matter?"
"You had a lunch meeting scheduled..." He thought, 'Should I cancel it? Miss Grey wants to have lunch with you.' Before Ryan could finish, Tristan nodded, "Cancel it. Book a new restaurant and have Daniel bring the contract over. We must sign with White Corporation by noon today."
