Chapter 454 Are You My Niece?

Rupert thought that Jessica and Ember's wrongdoing could be punished severely by the law.But if Katniss's grandma passed away with regrets, their mistake would be irreparable.

Seeing Katniss stay quiet, Rupert hesitated for a moment before saying, "Katniss, even though Jessica did something unforgivable, you should think about not letting your grandma die with regrets. If you're worried, you don't have to reveal your ture identity right away."

"I get what you're saying." Katniss's emotions were all over the place, but she never planned to hide who she was.

The fact that the other family had spent their entire savings, giving Jessica and Ember two million dollars just to get her to visit the old man, showed they valued family deeply. For that alone, she had to go.

"Then you should go. My mom can wait until you get back." Rupert took a couple of steps back, ready to leave, but then turned around, "If Tristan is too busy to go with you, I can come along."

Before Katniss could respond, Tristan nodded, "I have time."

Rupert nodded, "Alright, you two go. When you get there, contact me if you need anything."

He suddenly lowered his head, not leaving immediately but also not saying anything.

"Don't worry, no matter what happens, you'll always be my brother." Katniss saw through Rupert's thoughts and felt touched.

Hearing this, Rupert's head shot up, "Yeah, you'll always be my sister!"

"That's right." Katniss's eyes welled up as she waved at him, "Get back safely. Think carefully before dealing with Jessica, don't act impulsively."

"Got it. I'll let you know once I've sorted things out with Jessica."

Rupert got into his truck and waved at Katniss through the window.

His small truck stood out in the upscale neighborhood. If Katniss hadn't arranged for a pass for his vehicle, he wouldn't have been able to get in.

Katniss felt a warm hand on her waist as Tristan guided her back inside.

He led her to the couch, and she turned to him, "Do you really have time to go to Northern Grassland City with me?"

"Even if I didn't, I'd make time." Tristan said without hesitation, pulling out his phone to arrange for Ryan to cover for him at work, "Northern Grassland City is so far away. Who knows how long you'll be there? I can't let you go alone."

Katniss had so many things to deal with in Northern Grassland City that Tristan almost forgot about them.

But he couldn't stand being away from Katniss for long.

Seeing him already booking tickets, Katniss asked, "Is Evie coming too?"

"I can't let you go alone, and I can't leave Evie here by herself either." Tristan said seriously, "If necessary, we can bring Mom, too."

By "Mom," he meant Sophia.

Sophia had been so good to Katniss and Evie, and Tristan had started calling her Mom on their wedding day.

"I won't go." Sophia's voice suddenly came from the stairs.

Katniss turned to see her standing there, indicating she had been listening for a while.

She had heard everything Rupert said outside.

"Going to meet your biological family is a good thing. Since Tristan can go with you, there's no need for me to go. Besides, you might be gone for a while, and someone needs to stay here."

Sophia walked over, comforting Katniss, though her words carried a hint of reluctance. But she hid it well.

"Then wait for me to come back. If Northern Grassland City is nice, you and Matilda can visit once I'm settled."

Katniss hinted that she would definitely return. This was her home, no matter what her biological parents were like in Northern Grassland City. Sophia would always be her mom.

Tristan booked tickets for the next morning. That night, Katniss finally messaged the unfamiliar number. Tristan briefly explained who she was and that she would be in Northern Grassland City the next day to discuss things in person.

She didn't tell anyone about her background, only saying she was going to Northern Grassland City for a trip. But she told Matilda the truth.

When Matilda heard they were leaving the next day, she came over that night with George for a family dinner. Evie was unusually excited, running around and making everyone laugh. During dinner, she insisted on sitting next to Matilda, constantly patting her belly.

Evie's hands were greasy, and she didn't understand much, poking and patting Matilda's belly. Matilda's clothes got dirty, but she didn't mind, happily playing with Evie.

"Matilda, we'll be back as soon as we can. In the meantime, visit Mom often."

Matilda and George had moved back to the Russell Villa, making it inconvenient for Sophia to stay there, so she stayed here. Odette was still the same, which had matured George a lot. He was now more focused on his game development business, which was thriving.

With Odette's condition, Mr. Russell couldn't focus on business and spent most of his time at home with her. So George had to manage both his studio and the family resort, taking on the responsibility of supporting the family.

"Katniss, I heard Northern Grassland City is beautiful. Take your time and enjoy it. Mom will be fine with Matilda and me here."

George handed Matilda a napkin to clean her clothes, reassuring Katniss about her trip. The rare harmonious atmosphere made Katniss reluctant to leave. But thinking about the people who had been waiting for her for decades far away, she suppressed her reluctance. This trip, Katniss had to make.

The winter night was especially cold, with the wind howling outside, carrying dry leaves. Northern Grassland City was about twenty degrees colder than Velvet City. The vast plains were covered in a blanket of snow.

As the plane descended, Katniss looked out the window, her clear eyes filled with awe. She had rarely seen such heavy snow, and the endless flat landscape was overwhelming. But the intense feeling dissipated as soon as she got off the plane.

Katniss, bundled in a thick down jacket, couldn't help but shrink her neck. Tristan wrapped his long arm around her, holding Evie securely with the other.

Inside the airport, the cold air lessened, and Tristan let go of her to get their luggage. Evie clung to him, refusing to let go.

"You wait by the exit. I'll be quick."

It was still cold near the exit, and people were coming and going. Katniss adjusted her hair and turned to leave. Just as she stepped out, someone grabbed her wrist, "Are you my niece?"
