Chapter 326 We'll Have Our Own in the Future

When the two were talking, Hazel bit her lower lip tightly, her face flushed red. Being the subject of their teasing was the ultimate humiliation!

"Benjamin, are you crazy!" She picked up the glass of water on the table and splashed it on Benjamin's face. His short hair got wet, and the liquid dripped down his cheeks onto his shirt.

Benjamin's hand, which was hanging by his side, instantly clenched into a fist. The face that had been full of laughter and conversation now turned dark.

"No wonder you don't want her, her temper is as impressive as her figure," Nora commented.

After all, Hazel and Nora didn't know each other, and all the insults were brought by Benjamin, so she had no reason to lose her temper at Nora.

She turned and left, buying a double breakfast at the front desk, but the light porridge would take ten minutes, so she waited at the door.

The food was ready, and Benjamin and Nora also came out. The sky was starting to drizzle again.

He opened a black umbrella, covering Nora's body, while half of his own body was exposed to the drizzling rain.

Hazel had no umbrella. Watching the two of them disappear from sight, she went to the roadside to hail a cab, braving the light rain.

Fortunately, the rain soon stopped, but a speeding luxury car splashed dirty water from the ground all over Hazel.

In the car's left rearview mirror, she saw Nora's smiling face and Benjamin's half-exposed face.

So she was late.

"The White Corporation is about to face some trouble, and Benjamin is desperately looking for a woman of equal family background to marry," Katniss explained halfway, then couldn't continue.

She couldn't accept Adelaide's cold-heartedness and focus on power.

But Benjamin was facing the same situation now. What could she explain? Force Hazel to accept this reality?

"I don't have much contact with high society, but I really understand the gap between me and the rich. I like him as a person, and I don't believe he doesn't like me."

Hazel's tears streamed down because she didn't believe it, because she thought Benjamin had feelings for her. So even though she was hurt and humiliated, she still had hope for him.

She wiped her tears and asked, "Ms. Grey, do you think it's possible that he likes me but is forced by circumstances?"

Katniss moved her lips but couldn't say a word.

Give Hazel hope? Or cruelly tell her that she and Benjamin are impossible!

Benjamin's rationality was terrifying to Katniss. A man who could endure and strategize for nearly ten years always knew what he wanted.

"Maybe you can open your heart and talk to him, once and for all."

Katniss couldn't analyze Hazel and Benjamin's situation, so she could only encourage her to muster the courage to find Benjamin.

Hearing this, Hazel was silent for a few seconds, then nodded, "I understand, Ms. Grey, thank you."

After sending Hazel off, Katniss returned to the ward and found that Tristan hadn't eaten yet and was busy replying to someone's message on his phone.

Seeing her come in, he quickly turned off his phone.

Then, as if realizing something, he handed the phone to her, "No women, Ryan was looking for me."

"I know." Katniss pushed the phone back without taking it.

But he frowned and handed it over again, "Mrs. Forbes, you should use your right to check, so I can have a clear conscience."

Katniss looked at him for a few seconds, then reluctantly took the phone, opened it, and casually flipped through it. Her smile was reflected on the screen.

Putting the phone back, she sat down beside him, "It's all cold, you don't have to wait for me."

"I wasn't waiting for you," Tristan said seriously, "I was waiting for you to feed me."

Katniss looked down at his perfectly fine right hand, "Your right hand can eat."

Tristan raised his right hand, clenched his fist, and nodded seriously, "Indeed, when you feed me, I can feed you."

Saying this, he picked up a sandwich and brought it to Katniss's mouth, "Open up."

Katniss took a bite of the sandwich, but his fingers were too close, almost getting caught by her tongue.

She quickly pulled her head back, and he retracted his hand, then picked up another sandwich and handed it to her, "Your turn to feed me."

The sandwich thought: This is unnecessary!

In just one morning, Katniss had gotten used to him like this. The two of them finished breakfast, feeding each other.

In the end, she still secretly added painkillers to his anti-inflammatory medicine.

Maybe it didn't hurt as much, after taking the medicine, Katniss lay in his arms, and soon both of them fell asleep.

At noon, Matilda came to deliver bone broth. Seeing the scene, she quietly placed the soup on the coffee table and left.

At White Corporation, with Katniss not around, Hazel could go straight home.

But after delivering breakfast to Katniss, she came back.

She had been keeping an eye on Benjamin's movements. Suddenly hearing that Benjamin had arrived, she went to his office without hesitation.

To her surprise, she found no one in his office. Thinking he hadn't returned yet, she turned to leave but heard the sound of water from the restroom.

The restroom door was ajar, with faint light coming from inside. He must be taking a shower.

So she stood at the office door waiting, and in just over ten minutes, Benjamin finished his shower and came out in a new suit.

Seeing Hazel in the office, Benjamin paused for a moment before striding to his desk and sitting down.

"Who allowed you into my office?"

"I have something to say to you." Hazel took two steps forward, maintaining a safe distance.

Without looking up, Benjamin said, "Speak."

"I admit, I like you, but my feelings for you have nothing to do with your money. So, I don't want to hear you say things like you did today again. If you find me annoying, I'll keep my distance."

Hazel's hand at her side tightly gripped the hem of her clothes.

Her restrained gaze looked at the indifferent Benjamin, and even her breathing hurt.

After a while, Benjamin finally said, "Keep your distance? Then why are you here now? Just to say these things?"

"I..." Hazel choked up, then mustered the courage to ask, "I think you like me. Are you trying to stay away from me because of the circumstances? You can just tell me..."

"Shut up." Benjamin interrupted her, standing up and walking around the desk. She was so startled that she took two steps back.

But he didn't come over. Instead, he leaned against the desk, playing with a pen with his long, clean fingers.

"Whether I like you or not is a question that doesn't need answering. If thinking I like you makes you happy, then think that. But let me make it clear: I'm not acting. I'm not the kind of person who plays tragic roles. The woman I, Benjamin, will marry is destined to be someone like Nora, a wealthy heiress."

Hazel bit her lip hard, tasting blood in her mouth. She stared at Benjamin, whose words made her heart ache to the point of suffocation.

"The harm I caused you before was to make you stay away from me. But I didn't expect Katniss to mistakenly recruit you to White Corporation as a secretary. Keeping you here is because you're already involved with us. Under her, she will protect you. Once this storm passes, you can leave."

Benjamin spoke again, his tone indifferent. His gaze lingered on her for a while before he added, "I can give you some money."

"I don't want it!" Hazel suddenly became emotional, quickly realizing her loss of control. She swiftly said, "Since I'm already with Ms. Grey, I'll work well with her. I don't care about your matters. I just want to work peacefully and earn money. Since you've said this, remember, we have no further relationship."

Hearing her words, he fell silent.

He watched her wipe away her tears, throw the tissue into the box, calm herself, and turn to leave.

The air still carried a faint milky scent from her. The pen in Benjamin's hand fell to the ground as he stared blankly at the spot where she had stood.

Suddenly, his phone rang. It was a call from Nora.

"I agreed with what you said. When should we arrange for my parents to meet your parents to discuss our marriage?"

Benjamin picked up the pen and replied in his usual tone, "Meeting me alone is enough. I make the decisions about my marriage. We'll get engaged in seven days and married within two months. You can set any conditions you want, as long as they're not excessive, I'll agree. Okay, I'll start arranging the engagement."

The news of Benjamin's engagement quickly spread. It was the third day of Tristan's hospitalization.

Emory brought the news, carrying a pot of nourishing soup made by Sophia. As soon as he entered, he mentioned it.

"He invited us from Horizon Venture Capital to attend. Your head injury looks too ugly; you probably can't go."

He spoke with a hint of schadenfreude.

Tristan, sitting on the hospital bed, barely lifted his eyelids, not taking Emory's words to heart. He casually said, "My Katniss will represent me."

My Katniss?

Feeling like he'd been hit with a thousand blows, Emory wanted to curse but held back, choosing a different way to retaliate!

He took out his phone and showed them some photos and videos of Evie.

"Evie was sick a few days ago and didn't want to play. She just got better today. Look at her, chubby and so cute. Oh, Evie..."

Neither Katniss nor Tristan listened to his rambling. They leaned in together to look at the photos of Evie on the phone.

The first few photos showed her with a fever patch on her forehead, her beautiful eyes looking adorably at the camera.

The later photos were clearly taken when she was sick, being held and about to cry, with tears falling down, making her look pitiful.

"How did she get sick?" Tristan felt uneasy. Just a few days ago, she was happily playing in his arms.

"Where's Evie's mom?" He looked up at Emory. "Leaving Evie with someone like you who isn't good at taking care of kids, and a man at that, is so irresponsible."

Emory looked at him sullenly, thinking: Isn't Evie's mom with Evie's dad? If Evie's mom is irresponsible, then Evie's dad is even more so, not even knowing he has a daughter.

"I'm her Godfather. I like taking care of her. You don't have one, so why do you care about Evie's mom?" He proudly declared himself as the Godfather.

Tristan was silent for a few seconds, then turned off the phone and handed it back to him. Turning to Katniss, he said, "Don't be envious. We'll have our own in the future."
