Chapter 344 Pushing Me into the Abyss Again

"When should we go to City Hall to remarry?" Tristan asked very seriously, then added, "You won't let me down in the future, will you?"

Katniss seriously doubted if this conversation was reversed.

Katniss pursed her lips and responded, "We'll go to City Hall when I find the time, but shouldn't it be you who won't let me down?"

After all, the situation on his side was more precarious and dangerous.

But Tristan clearly didn't take the danger in her eyes to heart. He leaned back in his chair, his well-defined hands naturally resting on his legs.

His eyes looked at her with great seriousness, "But now you're the one making money to support the family."

The implication was that she had become the breadwinner, and it was highly likely that she would get used to the outside world and change her heart!

"I like the pasta you make." Katniss held the bowl with both hands, squinting her eyes in satisfaction, "You're good-looking, powerful, and rich. There's no reason for me to abandon you."

Her words were very superficial, but Tristan, who was decisive in the business world, actually enjoyed such superficial words.

He raised an eyebrow, watching her finish a bowl of pasta, and his lips curved slightly.

She quickly retorted, "Then what do you like about me? Tell me, I must have some irreplaceable qualities, right?"

In the past, when she was by Tristan's side, she had seen countless wealthy young ladies, all of whom were very outstanding.

At that time, she felt inferior.

But now, thinking about it, Tristan must like her for some irreplaceable qualities.

Tristan interlaced his fingers and rested his chin on them, seriously scrutinizing her for a while, then said with great certainty, "You're Evie's biological mother, no one can replace that."

"We were together first, then we had Evie!" she reminded him discontentedly, "So what you're saying is, if I hadn't given birth to Evie, we might not be reconciling now?"

In other words, he was reconciling with her because of Evie?

Her chest heaved, and she looked at Tristan with bright eyes, pursing her lips very seriously.

"Just kidding." Tristan suddenly grabbed her chair and pulled it slightly, bringing her closer to him.

He spread his legs, encircling her in his arms, his hands moving from her back to her head.

His fingers threaded through her hair, and he lowered his head to kiss her lips.

"Because you gave birth to Evie, that's why Evie is so important."

He suddenly became serious, his eyes darkening as he looked at her glossy lips and kissed them again.

"Because it's you, that's why I care so much."

"There are too many things about you that attract me." Tristan's fingers slid down from Katniss's forehead, landing between her delicate brows.

Katniss's long eyelashes fluttered twice, her gaze falling on his sexy thin lips and beautifully contoured chin.

His movements continued, his fingers sliding over her nose and landing on her plump lips.

"As long as it's you, no matter how ordinary, it's fine."

His voice gradually became hoarse, capturing her lips and savoring her beauty.

She leaned forward, her hands resting on his firm legs, held in his hands, being cherished like a treasure.

Moonlight streamed through the kitchen window, enveloping them both, Katniss's petite figure completely covered by him.

After a moment, his breathing became heavy, and when he released her lips, his hand tightened around her waist, lifting her up.

Tristan effortlessly carried her upstairs, leaving Katniss's slippers scattered messily on the floor.

The night was long, and the whole city became quiet.

In the suburban entertainment club, the nightlife had just begun. Hazel, who had just started her shift, was assigned to serve VIP guests in the top-floor private room.

Her figure was already very sexy, making her very noticeable among the crowd indulging in debauchery.

She was used to it, not wearing makeup and only tying her hair in a simple style.

Entering the private room, she carried the tray without looking up, "Good evening, gentlemen. I'm here to serve you a fruit platter. If you need anything else, please let me know."

She could only see a few men sitting on the sofa, all wearing suits, their long legs crossed with shiny leather shoes, clearly expensive.

Before she could put down the fruit platter, a pair of slightly chubby hands suddenly reached over and grabbed her wrist.

"When did such a tender young girl come here?" The man, about thirty years old, was obese and flabby from long-term inactivity.

Although he didn't look sloppy, his lecherous expression was very repulsive.

"Sorry, sir, I'm just here to serve the fruit platter." Hazel pulled her hand back, quickly placing the last plate of snacks from the tray and standing up to leave.

But the man quickly stood up and blocked her way, reeking of alcohol, probably having drunk a lot.

Hazel couldn't cause trouble, so she turned to his companions for help, "Gentlemen, your friend seems to have had too much to drink..."

Her words were swallowed by the deep gaze of Benjamin, who was sitting in the main seat.

"Brother?" She didn't expect to meet him here.

Would he think she was deliberately creating a chance encounter again?

After all, he was so disgusted by every encounter, making her seem like a scheming woman.

"Mr. White, do you know her?" The man behind Hazel immediately withdrew his hand and sat back down, scrutinizing Benjamin's expression as he asked, "She calls you brother? I only remember you having a sister named Lila, and she doesn't look like this!"

Clearly, he wanted to probe the relationship between Hazel and Benjamin.

Today, he was Benjamin's guest, discussing a cooperation deal where even a slight difference in profit percentage could mean millions of dollars.

Benjamin withdrew his gaze from Hazel, suddenly smiled, and took out a cigarette from his pocket, offering one to the man.

"Mr. Perry Loomis, how about we sign the contract based on the percentage you proposed?"

This was a compromise.

No one would believe he wasn't trying to protect Hazel from Perry.

Even Hazel, an outsider, could see it. She pursed her lips, tightly gripping the tray, feeling a bit uncomfortable.

She had caused trouble for Benjamin again.

Perry nodded in satisfaction, "OK, Mr. White, since you're so straightforward, we'll definitely have a good time tonight. Go call a few people for me."

There were hostesses in the entertainment club, and he instructed Hazel to go out.

Hazel glanced at Benjamin. He was smoking, his cold face shrouded in smoke, exuding an air of detachment and indifference.

She turned and left the private room, using the walkie-talkie to ask the staff to select a few hostesses to come up.

Since he started planning to take back White Corporation, he had changed every time they met.

Today's Benjamin had a cold, emotionless expression, his eyes like ice that had been frozen for millennia.

He protected her not out of kindness, but simply because he found her troublesome and didn't want to waste any more words on her.

The more she thought about it, the more uncomfortable she felt, to the point where even breathing hurt.

She returned to the break room, washed her face, and drank a large glass of cold water to calm herself down.

She couldn't go back to that private room, so she called the supervisor to request a replacement.

But it was a busy time at the entertainment club, and her request was flatly refused.

The busy signal on her phone left her stunned, and as she was in a daze, the door to the break room suddenly opened.

Benjamin stood there with his hands in his pockets, kicked the door shut with his foot, and leaned against it, looking down at her, "Taking money without doing the job?"

He was accusing her of taking the card but not leaving as he had instructed.

"I haven't touched a cent of your money." The card was still in her bag, in the employee locker room of the entertainment club. She stood up and said, "I'll go get it for you now."

She tried to leave, but he grabbed her wrist and pulled her into his arms, "Quite the schemer, huh? Deliberately creating these encounters, claiming you want to return the card and don't want my money, but still hanging around to cause me trouble? You're testing my patience."

Every word he said was spat out through gritted teeth, his gaze sharp and aggressive.

"I don't have the ability to track your whereabouts and create these encounters." Hazel stubbornly refused to let the sadness in her heart overwhelm her, fearing that she would cry in front of him and appear even more pathetic.

She tried to shake off his grip, but his hand held her tightly.

"If that's the case, then why not leave Velvet City?" Benjamin suddenly pulled her closer, pressing his forehead against hers, leaving her no room to think.

"I've lived in Velvet City for over ten years. I have familiar classmates and teachers here, my social circle. Where do you want me to go?" Hazel's eyes reddened, "You're not just trying to make me leave, you're trying to destroy me. You pulled me out of the mud, and now you want to push me back into the abyss?"

How difficult would it be for a newly graduated girl with no savings to survive in a foreign country?

Could she find a job?

Could she support herself?

Could she afford rent?

"So, you refuse the money and still act pitiful here?" Benjamin released her hand, looking at her with disdain, "Hazel, you..."

Perhaps his gaze was too directly filled with disgust, Hazel's stomach churned, and the next second she turned and rushed to the trash can, retching.

She had lost a lot of weight, and now her hunched figure made it even more apparent. When she stood up, her once proud figure was no longer noticeable.

Benjamin looked at her back, so thin that her spine was visible, and frowned.

After a while, Hazel felt better, quickly drank some water to rinse her mouth, then stood up, not daring to meet his gaze, "I have nothing more to say to you. You can leave now."

In the quiet space, the sour smell of her vomit lingered, but Benjamin seemed oblivious.

Until someone pushed the door, it opened a crack but couldn't open fully. A supervisor's voice came from outside, "Hazel, are you in there?"

"I'm here." Hazel quickly responded, then pushed Benjamin aside.

"Why are you blocking the door?" The supervisor scrutinized her.

Hazel didn't dare let her in, fearing she would see Benjamin, "I... I'm not feeling well. I'll get back to work soon."

The supervisor hesitated for a few seconds, then remembered something, "You threw up again? Have you been to the hospital? I remember when I..."
