Chapter 352 I Don't Keep Idlers Here
When Eudora and the monkey man went to the hotel, she knew it was the White family's hotel.
She instinctively wanted to avoid it, but who knew the monkey man would immediately take a liking to the themed room there.
He insisted on going there!
She went with the hope of not being discovered, but as soon as they entered, the monkey man pushed her onto the bed and slapped her twice!
"The person you pointed out to me in the restaurant was Ms. Grey from White Corporation. Do you want me to offend someone important?"
So, in the monkey man's eyes, it wasn't that he thought she was more attractive than Katniss, but he knew Katniss's identity and couldn't afford to offend her, so he wasn't tempted by her!
Many thoughts flashed through her mind. Could it be that the monkey man betrayed her and told Katniss about this?
Or... could it be that the monkey man was arranged by Katniss in collusion with Michael?
These thoughts made her furious.
It was still early, and Katniss and Tristan were playing with Evie in the living room when they suddenly heard someone knocking on the door forcefully.
The sound was particularly clear in the quiet villa, scaring Evie, who quickly crawled towards Katniss.
Katniss hurriedly picked her up, and Sophia, hearing the commotion, walked over to them, protecting them as they all looked towards the door.
Tristan's face was very unpleasant as he stood up and said, "Take Evie upstairs, I'll go check."
"Hurry." Seeing that Evie was quite scared, Sophia pulled Katniss upstairs.
"Mom, you take Evie upstairs, I'll stay and see." It was around the time Eudora would come to pick up Aaron, so she guessed it was Eudora.
The news online had just been exposed, and with Eudora's intelligence, it was normal for her to figure it out, especially since she hadn't planned to hide it.
Letting Sophia take Evie upstairs, Katniss went to the foyer.
Tristan had already opened the door, and Eudora stood at the entrance, still in the act of knocking. The moment she saw him, Eudora froze.
After a long while, she suddenly dropped her hand, avoiding Tristan's gaze, even wanting to escape.
Her eyes wandered until she saw Katniss, and all reason and shame instantly vanished.
"It was you, wasn't it? Why did you do this?"
"What do you think?" Katniss retorted, "Do you need me to remind you what you did to me?"
Eudora refused to admit it, "I didn't do anything to you. You're just jealous that I manage Synergy Global Corporation and that Tristan's parents recognize me!"
Saying this, she looked at Tristan and pointed at Katniss, "Is this the woman you chose? So despicable and shameless!"
These words hit Katniss, and Tristan's eyes turned as sharp as blades, cutting into Eudora's heart!
"With my current status, do I need to be jealous of you managing Synergy Global Corporation? And as for the so-called recognition, are you sure it's worth mentioning?" Katniss looked at her with extreme amusement.
The things Eudora was proud of were things she disdained and that Tristan didn't acknowledge.
Eudora reached out to grab Tristan, but he avoided her.
His thin lips parted slightly, "Dirty."
"I didn't." Eudora's tears fell like rain, "Tristan, I was forced, believe me, I..."
"Whether I believe you or not doesn't matter. If you're here to settle scores, I'm game. If you're here to pick up Aaron, leave now."
Tristan had no patience to argue with her and turned to signal Katniss to call Aaron down.
Katniss turned to find that Aaron was already standing in the living room, holding a small bag with just a few clothes inside.
"I'm ready, let's go." He slung the bag over his shoulder, changed his shoes, and walked past Katniss without saying a word.
He went down the stairs first and got into Eudora's car without looking back.
Eudora glared at Katniss with hatred, "Fine, Katniss, you'll pay for this!"
She turned and left, and within seconds, the car sped away like an arrow.
After hesitating for a moment, Katniss hooked her finger around Tristan's shirt, "I forgot about Aaron."
She had only thought about taking action against Eudora and quickly announcing to the world that she had Evie.
But she forgot that Eudora was Aaron's sister.
"Aaron has his own standards of judgment. He knows right from wrong." Tristan closed the door and held her wrist, "If you feel bad about it, I'll handle the rest."
Katniss rolled her eyes at him, "What's the difference if you handle it or if I do?"
In Aaron's eyes, she and Tristan were one and the same.
For some reason, this seemed to please Tristan, and the corners of his mouth lifted slightly, "Good point, then I'll leave it all to you."
Katniss was worried about Aaron's reaction because Eudora did many things quietly, never openly opposing her.
But she...
The atmosphere in the car was heavy, and Aaron hugged his bag, looking out the window, saying nothing.
Eudora's anger hadn't dissipated, after all, she managed Synergy Global Corporation with her skills, not by sleeping around!
Sleeping around was all Michael's doing, and now she had the reputation of doing business by selling her body.
Just as she was thinking about this, Michael suddenly called. Seeing Aaron, she chose to hang up the call.
Michael didn't call again, but sent a text message with a hotel address and room number.
The meaning was clear, so his call wasn't about the news circulating online, but about continuing to exploit her.
"When does your school start?" she initiated the conversation, asking Aaron.
"The day after tomorrow," Aaron replied without turning his head.
His attitude displeased Eudora, but thinking that since he was back, there was a long future ahead, and they couldn't keep quarreling.
Moreover, she was counting on Aaron to help her at Synergy Global Corporation in the future.
"I'll take you to school the day after tomorrow. I'll give you the tuition and living expenses later."
But Aaron was ungrateful, "Just give me the money, I'll go to school by myself."
Eudora's place was far from TomorrowTech University, nearly two hours by car.
Taking the bus would be even farther. She was already enduring her temper to talk to Aaron after being cyberbullied, and his disobedience made her tone worse.
"How will you go? By bus? With all that luggage, it's hard to manage. I'm offering to take you because I care about you, don't be ungrateful!"
Aaron sneered, turning to look at her, "Are you caring for me or trying to embarrass me? TomorrowTech University always pays attention to business news. Every student there knows this morning's news by heart. Your face is like the university's logo, etched in their minds. Why would you take me there?"
He was studying business management, and college students valued theory and practice, paying attention to all business news.
Of course, they would also see entertainment news like Eudora's.
But something so outrageous would definitely be remembered.
"Embarrassing you?" Eudora tightened her grip on the steering wheel, "Don't forget, without me, would you have what you have today? You'd still be in that small place in Nightfall City with a bunch of thugs, maybe even dead by their hands!"
"What does my success have to do with you? It was Katniss who pulled me out of the mire!" Aaron clenched his fists around his backpack, eager to sever ties with Eudora.
He had seen the news after breakfast.
Otherwise, he couldn't imagine how he would face Katniss and Tristan.
No matter what, Eudora was his sister!
That was an unchangeable fact.
"If it weren't for my relationship with Tristan, how would you have met Katniss? Everything has a cause and effect. What kind of spell did Katniss cast on you to make you side with her? Don't you know the news online was exposed by her? My situation today is all her doing!"
Eudora parked the car, having arrived at her place, but neither of them got out.
The car was filled with tension, a stark contrast to the harmony she had seen at Katniss's place.
"You two are business rivals. It's normal for her to target you. Don't tell me you haven't secretly targeted her, I wouldn't believe it."
Aaron, tired of arguing, got out of the car, carrying his bag and waiting at the door.
He knew Katniss's character well. She wouldn't take action unless provoked.
There were many companies rivaling White Corporation, but she didn't target others.
Moreover, Eudora's character was much worse than Katniss's. He wouldn't believe Eudora was a victim even if he were beaten to death.
As September approached, there was more rain. It had been sunny in the morning, but now it suddenly started raining.
Eudora sat in the car, watching the windshield gradually fog up with rain, while Aaron stood in the rain, unmoving.
She couldn't understand how things had gotten so bad between siblings.
Aaron's clothes were soaked. When the rain lessened, Eudora got out of the car, her gaze colder than the raindrops.
"I'm telling you, now that you're back with me, you listen to me. Whether Katniss doesn't want you or you don't want to trouble her, now that you're back, there's no other way. From today on, you do what I say. I don't support idlers."
She unlocked the door, went inside, changed her shoes, and took out two hundred dollars from her bag, handing it to Aaron, who was still standing outside.
"There's nothing here for you. Go buy your own supplies. There's a supermarket on the way."
With that, she slammed the door shut.
Aaron didn't take the money. The glaring bills fell at his feet, getting soaked by the rain.
His hands clenched tightly at his sides, fingers turning white.
Katniss's appearance had brought hope to his bleak life, like a timely help in a snowstorm, making his life flourish.
If he endured, he could break free from Eudora after completing his studies.
If he didn't, behind him was the abyss he had once crawled out of.
The two choices kept him silent.
Katniss's so-called action against Eudora wasn't just a retaliation for Eudora tarnishing her reputation.
