Chapter 436 I Have Nothing to Do with Her
Yesterday at the wedding, Rupert also came and stayed not far from Katniss.
As soon as Katniss finished her tasks, he quickly came over to say a few words, but when he saw someone talking to Katniss, he quickly walked away again.

Ember muttered, "Check if there's any money left in the card when we get home."
Katniss said softly, "I've given you everything, you can leave now."
"No way." Jessica put the card away and said without hesitation, "The card is originally mine, don't act like you're giving it to us. Also, our rented small house is too cramped, shouldn't you think of a solution for our mom?"
As she spoke, Ember tugged at her sleeve, but she ignored it and brushed Ember's hand away.

Jessica's meaning was clear; she still wanted Katniss to buy a house.
"Whether to buy or not, let your mom say it herself." Sophia spoke up, "Ask her if she has the nerve to ask for it."
Ember choked up, looked away, and her arm was suddenly nudged.
It was Jessica, who kept giving Ember meaningful looks, "Say something!"
"This..." Ember stammered.
Jessica was furious and simply spoke for her, "Giving her $2,000 a month is just the legal requirement. As her daughter, you have so much money, but you only give $2,000 as support. Don't you think that's excessive?"
Finally, she glanced at Tristan.

But she braved herself and said, "You had money to support your stepmother before, and now you have money to support your husband. Why can't you let your own mother live better?"

Jessica's breath hitched, and she forced herself to speak despite the suffocating feeling, "Why are you looking at me like that? Am I wrong? You married into the Grey family, spending Katniss's money, and now... your legs aren't good, aren't you relying on my sister to support you?"
They only read the headlines in the news, knowing only that Tristan married into the Grey family.
They had no idea that he brought Zenith Group and Synergy Global Corporation with him, as well as The Astor Corporation.
"I support my husband and stepmother, and even if I support homeless people on the street in the future, it has nothing to do with you. If you have the guts, go to court. If not, stop talking in front of me, because I will sue you for trespassing and extortion."
Katniss raised her eyebrows slightly, pointing to the door, "If you don't leave now, I'll call security."
Jessica wanted to say something, but Ember pulled her away, stumbling out.

Ember had no money on her and didn't know how to use ride-hailing apps. After walking a long distance, she turned around and saw that Jessica had already gotten into a car.
She ran after it for a long distance but couldn't catch up, stomping her feet in anger, and had to call Rupert.
But with this commotion, Rupert knew they had gone to see Katniss.
Rupert immediately closed the pasta shop, drove his small truck to pick up Ember, and at that time, Jessica was lying on the bed playing with the card.

Jessica stuffed the card under her pillow, sat up, and said, "Yes, I got it back. This is our joint property. Did you ask for my opinion when you gave it to Katniss?"
"I told you, she has done us a favor. If we don't repay her when she gets married, when will we? We can always earn more money in the future!" Rupert explained patiently.
But Jessica didn't care, "What favor did she do for you? Did she buy you a house or a car? I did you a favor by giving you a child, almost losing my life!"
She pushed her belly forward, forcing Rupert to step back and bump into the silent Ember.
Both of them were almost knocked over by Jessica's scolding.
Seeing Ember shrinking behind Rupert, Jessica became even more displeased, "You useless mother, didn't you agree to ask Katniss to buy you a villa? When we got there, you didn't say a word, acting like a thief. No wonder Katniss doesn't care about you at all!"
"That's enough!" Rupert finally reacted, his face turning grim, "You even asked Katniss for a villa? How many times have I told you not to bother her!"
"What do you mean by bother? Your mom is her biological mother, why can't she..."
"My mom is not her biological mother!" Rupert roared, "We have no relationship with her at all. Now do you understand why I told you not to bother her?"
