Chapter 259 Make Sure to Get Plenty of Rest
Eudora frowned and said, "I know I shouldn't be going after Katniss like this. I even thought about leaving with you, but you're so amazing—how could I let you give up everything for me? It drives me nuts that Tristan would do this for her, so... I get it now, I shouldn't have acted this way. If Lila decides to expose me, Tristan will probably end up hating me too."
She still kept that sweet and thoughtful vibe, always wanting the best for everyone.
Apart from admitting she targeted Katniss to vent for Michael, everything else she said was true.
Hearing her words, Michael was deeply moved, overwhelmed by her protection, unable to tell truth from lies.
He replied, "Don't worry. I'll handle Lila. Please don't put yourself in this position for me again. Tristan is already obsessed with Katniss, and if he finds out you were involved, it won't be easy for you to escape the fallout."
Michael was already in a mess because of Tristan, let alone Eudora, a woman with no background.
Hearing him say he would handle Lila, Eudora seemed to foresee something.
A trace of disgust flashed in her eyes, but she threw herself into Michael's arms and kissed him passionately.
She exclaimed, "Michael, you're so good to me."
That kiss got Michael instantly excited.
Early in the morning was when men were most energetic, and one round of lovemaking hadn't been enough for him.
However, Eudora feared Lila might have already taken action, so she complained about being in pain and such.
Michael, still wanting more but feeling sorry for Eudora, put on his clothes and let her rest at his place, then went to find Lila.
Standing outside Lila's apartment, Michael smoked a cigarette.
He knew what kind of person Lila was, and he understood what he needed to sacrifice in order to ask her for help.
After finishing his cigarette, Michael threw the butt away, got out of the car, and knocked on the door.
Lila saw through the monitor that it was Michael, her mood instantly improved.
Wearing a lace camisole, she ran downstairs to open the door, not even wearing a bra, the thin fabric revealing everything.
Yet Michael turned his gaze away in slight annoyance.
"What? We're all adults. Are you still shy?" Lila teased, stepping aside. "Once you're in, don't think about leaving. Come in."
Michael frowned but entered her home.
Lila hugged him from behind, her hands exploring through his clothes, pausing at his belt to undo it, then moving downward.
Michael quickly grabbed her wrist."Stop pretending. That whole righteous act was just an excuse to get in bed with me, wasn't it? I don't like reserved men," Lila said, shaking off his hand and pressing on.
Her soft body pressed against Michael's back, and sensing his stiffness, she gasped.
She thought to herself, 'This is gonna be good,' and then eagerly pulled Michael upstairs.
"My room's got everything. Look, the bed's suspended, the bathroom's spacious, and there's a carpet and sofa. Wanna try them all?" she remarked.
Michael's eyes scanned the places she mentioned; she was definitely wild.
Michael resisted from the bottom of his heart but kept quiet.
"You know why I'm here?" he asked.
Lila sat on the sofa, her nightgown sliding down her legs, revealing black lace panties.
She didn't mind, looking at Michael with seductive eyes. "For Eudora, huh? I'm curious why you're doing so much for her. Are you trying to help her marry Tristan? Or do you have some deal with the Forbes family?"
She would never guess that Michael wanted to break up Tristan and Katniss because he liked Eudora.
After all, that logic didn't add up.
Hearing her words, Michael felt his heart sink. Helping Eudora marry Tristan?
No, he wasn't.
He wanted Bella to marry Tristan to set Eudora free.
But when Bella had an accident, he was furious, and Eudora felt guilty. In a fit of revenge for Bella, they worked to break up Tristan and Katniss.
Then, Tristan turned his anger towards Michael, and Eudora intervened to help!
Yeah, that was it.
But Michael didn't explain much to Lila. "It's none of your concern. If you can do it, then go ahead. If not, I'm leaving," he said.
"I can." Lila refused to let Michael leave. She gestured for him to come closer, saying, "But I don't like serving men; I prefer to be served. You do it."
She then spread her legs slightly, leaving nothing to the imagination.
With her rich experience, Michael's mere two times of lovemaking seemed clumsy.
Michael didn't know how to serve, and some of Lila's requests were hard for him to articulate.
At this, Lila became more interested and personally guided him.
Men were initially resistant, but once they felt the pleasure, they got into it.
But with Lila, Michael showed no tenderness.
In a daze, Lila heard Michael's hoarse roar. "Eudora, Eudora!"
She instantly sobered up.
A man calling out a woman's name in bed signified something she was all too familiar with.
Michael liked Eudora?
A glint of interest flashed in her eyes as Lila explored the complex relationships between these people.
Later, Lila indeed took all the blame; she still held onto a bit of credibility. She publicly claimed that she had been deceived by Ember and was unaware of the tumultuous relationship between Ember and Katniss.
She handled things fairly, admitting her mistakes and formally apologizing to Katniss on social media.
Upon seeing Lila's apology statement, Katniss felt no stirring of emotions in her heart.
What stirred her was Adelaide and Tristan's attitude.
Early in the morning, Adelaide arrived, making enough noise to wake Katniss. Tristan went to answer the door, and when Katniss realized it was Adelaide, she reluctantly got up, despite the soreness in her body.
"I knew you two would still be in bed. I brought breakfast, come and eat." With that, Adelaide motioned for them to freshen up.
Katniss changed into a high-necked shirt, as Tristan had been too passionate last night, leaving a hickey on her ear that she couldn't cover up.
She had to leave her hair down to barely cover it.
After freshening up, the two settled at the dining table. Adelaide sighed and said, "Katniss, I'm really sorry you had to endure this for the sake of the Forbes family's reputation. It makes me feel awful."
She didn't want Katniss to solve the matter by digging up the past.
She was even prepared to give Ember and Jessica money for life.
"Mrs. Forbes, please don't say that. I know what kind of people they are. I was just clinging to a glimmer of hope that they might have some decency, which is why I gave them a chance." Katniss initially found it hard to be ruthless, and she deeply regretted it.
She continued, "If we don't cut off her hopes all at once, we'll be in endless trouble. This step had to be taken sooner or later, better sooner than later."
Hearing this, Adelaide felt a deeper ache in her heart. Noticing Katniss's messy hair, she gently tucked it behind her ear.
Suddenly noticing the hickey on her ear, Adelaide quickly pulled her hair back.
If Adelaide hadn't tidied her hair, Katniss might have completely forgotten about the hickey.
"Well, I can't handle your wedding plans. I had an appointment with the hotel this morning to discuss things, but with all this happening, I'm too flustered. Tristan, you go instead." Adelaide changed the subject, thinking it was good they were getting married now.
If it were delayed by another year, she might find herself unable to move at all.
Tristan took his last sip of milk, swallowed slowly, and replied, "Alright, I'll head to the hotel first and then go straight to the office."
Finally, he looked at Katniss, and the signs of fatigue in her eyes were unmistakable.
He said, "I'll call you if there's anything at the hotel. You make the decisions. You should rest at home.""At this time..." Adelaide said, a hint of frustration in her voice, "Can't you wait? It's a busy couple of months, and you're preventing her from leaving the house. A man organizing a wedding can't possibly be as meticulous as a woman."
A wedding was a big deal, and certain details needed to be tailored to Katniss's preferences.
At this, Katniss awkwardly lowered her head.
"Alright, I'll keep that in mind." Tristan seemed used to Adelaide's tone, got up, and changed into a suit.
When he came out, he was dressed sharply, looking energetic. Despite working harder, he didn't seem tired.
Tristan was about to leave but suddenly remembered something and looked back at the dining room. "Grandma, are you leaving? I'll give you a ride."
"I'm not leaving!" Adelaide said anxiously. "You go on ahead; why do you need to take me with you?"
"She's tired and needs rest," Tristan explained.
Katniss almost choked on their conversation. "I'm not tired, I have work to handle later. Mrs. Forbes rarely visits, she should stay longer," she said.
"Then I'll stay a bit longer." Adelaide propped herself up with her cane, glancing at Tristan.
Seeing this, Tristan had no choice but to leave.
After going downstairs, he sent a message reminding Katniss to ensure she got enough rest.
He would come back tonight, and this nightly lovemaking would continue until Katniss got pregnant.
Katniss's mouth twitched. Tristan was being too serious—every night?
If every night was like last night, she couldn't handle it!
"Did he ask you to send me away?" Adelaide asked.
Katniss quickly shook her head and replied, "No."
Yet Adelaide didn't believe her.
"Mrs. Forbes, really, he didn't. And I have good news for you." Katniss paused for a moment and then said softly, "He agreed to have a child now."
"Oh my." Adelaide was overjoyed and remarked, "He said he had plans to prepare everything after you got married, and then you could have a child. But I didn't expect him to agree now."
Although it was only two months earlier, it still made Adelaide very happy.
She hadn't been pushing lately, mainly because Tristan had promised to have a child after marriage!
"Maybe I was a bit emotional last night, wanting a child because of my background, and he agreed right then." Talking about this, Katniss still felt warm inside.
"Then he really loves you!" Adelaide was very pleased, having brought the two together to this point.
Katniss nodded without denying it and said, "I need to be upfront about a few things. I can't hide the fact that I've been the woman he's been married to for six years. Do you understand?"
