Chapter 246 Don't You Think This Defies Common Sense?
The reporters were all over the Tudor family’s engagement announcement, while Isla and Michael were getting it on in the next room.
Everyone thought the Tudor and Astor families were distant, so this was a shocker!
The reporters were stunned, and someone blurted out.
Then the cameras started flashing like crazy.
"Isn't this incest?"
"No matter how much you like someone, you can't do this!"
"Yeah, I don't get what Mr. Astor sees in Isla."
The sound of cameras clicking and people talking woke Michael up.
He felt cold and empty, and the room was packed with people.
When he opened his eyes, he was shocked and instinctively pulled the thin blanket over himself, accidentally exposing Isla next to him.
The reporters gasped, looked away, but kept snapping photos.
"Mr. Astor, how long have you and Isla been together?"
"Do your parents know?"
"Don't you think this is wrong?"
"Are you planning to get married, or just live like this forever?"
Michael's head was still spinning, trying to remember how he blacked out last night. He had a bad feeling.
Suddenly, he noticed the woman lying next to him, naked because he had taken the blanket. When he looked up and saw it was Isla, his eyes twitched.
"Get out!" He realized what had happened, roared, and kicked Isla off the bed!
Isla lay naked on the ground, in a pitiful and unwatchable position.
The reporters couldn't bear to look, turned away in disgust, took a few more photos, and then turned their attention to Michael.
They kept asking Michael questions. Michael's face was dark and cold, and he wanted to escape, but he had no clothes!
"Get out of here! If you dare to report this recklessly, you are going against the Astor family!" He roared, his usual gentle image completely gone, and grabbed a pillow from the bed to throw at the reporters.
He didn't manage to drive the reporters away but did wake Isla up.
Instinctively, she realized she was naked and screamed in front of a room full of men, then climbed onto the bed.
She lifted a corner of the thin blanket and crawled in, only to see another naked body inside.
The reporters were stunned.
Michael glared angrily at her between his legs.
She screamed again.
"That's enough." Ryan stepped in to persuade the reporters, "If you stay any longer, the Astor family will come, and you won't be able to leave. Go back and write a good story about their defiance of societal norms."
The reporters had taken all the photos they needed, and seeing Michael's expression, he wouldn't tell the truth about him and Isla.
The reporters were persuaded and left, discussing how to write the story.
"Get back here!" Michael threw a water cup at the door.
Ryan closed the door, blocking the cup.
Then he turned respectfully to Tristan, "Mr. Forbes, everything is settled. What's next?"
"Does this make you feel better?" Tristan asked Katniss, as this was about avenging Katniss.
As for his anger, he hadn't settled that with Michael yet.
Katniss stared at the door, realizing the farce that had just happened was real. "Did they have sex?"
"Did they?" Tristan asked Ryan.
Yesterday, after Michael and Isla were drugged, Ryan handled it.
Ryan shook his head, "The drug only made them pass out. They are innocent, but no one will believe it."
"Well done." Tristan praised without hesitation, then added, "Go to the hospital to wash your eyes. The company will cover it."
"I..." Ryan said sheepishly, "I had someone else undress them. I was afraid it would affect my appetite and make me sick, delaying work."
"Whoever undressed them should go to the hospital. Give them the bonus; they've worked hard," after giving instructions, Tristan asked Katniss again, "Do you feel better now? If not, you can do whatever you want except going in there."
Just thinking about the scene made him feel sick, so she definitely couldn't go in.
"I feel better." Katniss genuinely felt relieved.
The feeling of having no way to explain, with no one believing them, and seeing false news about incest everywhere, made her feel bad for Michael, afraid that this ordeal would traumatize him.
"Then let's go." Tristan's lips curved slightly, his eyes full of affection. "Grandma just called. She's already prepared gifts for visiting your mother. We need to hurry back."
Matilda exclaimed, "You're going to see my mom?"
"Why?" Tristan asked, seeing her surprise, "Shouldn't I?""Of course, it's just that thinking about you meeting my mom makes me so excited!" Matilda felt the difference in status, making her nervous.
Katniss couldn't help but smile, letting go of Tristan's hand and saying, "Matilda and I will go pack our things, and we'll meet at the hotel entrance in a bit."
Tristan thought for a moment, then grabbed her wrist again, "No, from now on, you can't leave my sight for even a moment."
The group entered the elevator, and Tristan refused to let go of Katniss, so she had to go with him to pack his things first.
Then she went to pack her own things, using one hand while Tristan held the other tightly.
Seeing her inconvenience, Matilda came over to help, "Katniss, let me help you. You two can wait outside. Otherwise, I feel like a third wheel. If it doesn't work out, I'll take Mr. Gray's car."
"No need, we'll go home together. Mr. Gray still has work to do." Katniss tried to shake off Tristan's hand but couldn't.
She stomped hard on Tristan's foot, but he only frowned and still wouldn't let go.
It wasn't until his phone rang that he released her hand, "Five minutes, make it quick."
Then he walked to the suite door to answer the call.
"Mr. Forbes, the Astor family has sent someone over, but they only brought Michael's clothes. Isla is still in the suite." Ryan had been keeping an eye on the aftermath of Michael and Isla's situation.
The Astor family naturally wouldn't abandon Michael.
But Isla had escaped from the Tudor family, and the Tudor couple hadn't found her yet.
Contacting her family would mean being taken back to marry John, so she was still in the suite, not knowing what to do.
Ryan said, "The Astor family will definitely try to suppress the news."
The reporters were excited, thinking they had caught the biggest, most absurd news ever!
But once the Astor family got serious, no media outlet would dare to go against them.
"What are you afraid of? Go against them!" Tristan said coldly.
Even over the phone, Ryan felt empowered!
He felt encouraged. "Okay, I know what to do!"
"Do it openly. If the reporters are too scared, buy the photos from them." Tristan blocked all of Michael's escape routes.
Doing it openly meant not scheming behind the scenes but telling everyone outright: it was Tristan going against the Astor family!
After receiving instructions, Ryan immediately started handling the situation.
When Katniss finished packing and came out with Matilda, Tristan had already hung up the phone.
An hour later, the Range Rover stopped next to a small truck at the apartment.
The truck was loaded with various valuable gifts. Katniss got out of the car and looked around.
A ridiculous thought crossed her mind, and she turned to Tristan, "These aren't the things you bought for my mom, are they?"
Tristan's chiseled face showed some unease. He had called Adelaide to say he was visiting Katniss's mother.
Adelaide had confidently assured him, "Leave it to me, I'll make sure everything is prepared."
Seeing them standing behind the truck, Matilda seemed to understand something and gasped.
"Why did it take you so long to get back?" Adelaide got out of the luxury car in front of the truck. She had been waiting so long that her back and legs were sore.
She walked over, massaging her back, and looked at Tristan, "You should have come earlier for a visit. Arriving at mealtime, are you here just to eat?"
"Some things came up," Tristan explained, his eyes showing some concern, as it was indeed not very polite.
"Mrs. Forbes, it's not late, and he was delayed because of Matilda and me. My mom won't mind." Katniss had messaged Sophia before coming back, saying she was bringing someone over but might be late.
Sophia didn't mind at all and reminded them to drive safely.
Her explanation softened Adelaide's expression. "That's good. Let's go up together."
Katniss was surprised, "You're coming too?"
She thought Adelaide was just worried about the valuable items on the truck.
She didn't expect Adelaide to mean she was going upstairs too.
She immediately frowned, "Mrs. Forbes, this isn't proper. You're an elder; my mom should be visiting you."
"We're already at this stage. Why talk about this? Your mom isn't well. When will she be able to visit me? I can't wait. Today, I need to discuss your marriage." Adelaide was well-prepared. They might wait to hold the wedding until Sophia recovered, but all the arrangements needed to be made beforehand.
Katniss knew Adelaide's temperament well and knew she couldn't argue, so she had to let her be.
"Is this Matilda?" Adelaide turned her attention to Matilda.
