Chapter 252 The Gambling Debt Has a Solution

Jessica couldn't care less about the accusatory tone on the other end of the line.

All she could think about was Katniss marrying Tristan.

Ignoring the questions, Jessica hung up and opened the news.

Just ten minutes ago, the news broke about Tristan's upcoming wedding, complete with a photo of him kissing Katniss.

Even though it was just a side profile, Katniss looked petite and elegant, her profile almost perfect.

The hand resting on Tristan's chest sported a massive diamond ring!

That thing must've cost a fortune!

Jessica quickly took a screenshot and sent it to Ember, then dialed her number.

"Mom, your gambling debts are sorted. Check out the news I sent you. Katniss is marrying Tristan. We're gonna be related to the Forbes family."

Thinking about all that money, Jessica couldn't wait to bring Ember, who she had kicked out, back home. She used what little money she had to buy a train ticket straight to Velvet City.

Velvet City had this new residential area with huge flats. Not quite a villa, but the location was prime.

And the view from the higher floors? Stunning. You could see all of Velvet City.

Before Katniss left Velvet City, the promotion for this place was already top-notch.

When she saw the news, she was on a business trip with Tristan, in a hotel, on the bed.

She had just glanced at the flyer for a second when he noticed and asked, "Do you like it?"

She couldn't just tell Tristan she liked it, so she said she was just looking.

But Tristan saw right through her.

And he remembered. Seven months ago, when the place was ready, he bought the top floor, the best one.

The flat was over five thousand square feet, and the floor plan made Katniss's head spin.

The interior was barely decorated, no furniture or anything. Standing in the huge living room, Katniss felt a bit lost.

"Why'd you bring me here?" she asked.

"Wedding house." Tristan stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, saw her still dazed, and waved her over. "Come here."

The sun was shining in around three o'clock, turning from harsh noon light to a warm glow, filling the whole place through the windows.

It lit up the entire city outside. From here, you could see the long river and the colorful pearl lights.

Looking up a bit, you could see big clouds bathed in sunlight, making it feel like you were up there with them. The view was like a painting.Katniss leaned into Tristan's arms, soaking up the sunlight. "Why's it so empty?" she asked.

She thought a comfy sofa chair would be perfect here.

Tristan replied, "I'm waiting for you to decide. A designer will contact you about the decor."

He remembered her once saying that his Serenity Villa didn't feel like a home.

It lacked that lived-in vibe.

Katniss didn't remember saying that, but the fact that he wanted her input made her feel warm inside.

"Alright then, Mr. Forbes. Please take care of me in the future." She stood up straight and extended her hand for a shake.

Tristan smiled, clasped her hand, and gently tapped her forehead. "Come on, let me show you the layout."

With only two months until the wedding, they needed to start ordering furniture ASAP.

Besides her own bedroom, Katniss was most excited about the kids' room.

When the topic of kids came up again, Tristan wasn't as resistant as before. He seriously discussed it with her. "We can plan the kids' room well, order imported materials. It won't be used right away."

It was just a five thousand square foot empty room, but they spent the whole afternoon there.

On the way home, Katniss got a call from Adelaide. Adelaide wanted to invite Sophia and Matilda to lunch the next day to talk about her wedding with Tristan.

"Even though your mom has trouble getting around, I felt bad you both cooked for me last time. So, I made a reservation at a restaurant close to your place." Adelaide was always thoughtful and proper.

Back home, Katniss told Sophia about Adelaide's invite.

"Katniss, you should pay the bill." Sophia felt it was wrong to always let Adelaide, an elder, handle everything while she couldn't help at all.

Following proper etiquette ensured everything went smoothly.

Katniss was in a great mood. After finishing her work in the morning, she got a call from Tristan around noon.

Tristan said, "I'm done here. I'll come pick you up now."

"No need." Katniss replied quickly, "You go straight to the hotel; it's a detour to come here. I'll drive myself."

Tristan didn't insist. It would be quicker to meet directly, so he hung up, grabbed his coat, and walked out.

As soon as he stepped out of the CEO's office, he saw Eudora coming over with a thermos."Tristan, I brought you lunch," Eudora said.

"No need, I have plans at noon," Tristan replied bluntly.

Eudora's grip tightened on the thermos, and her smile faded. "Where are you going? I just saw Mr. Gray head out for lunch. Isn't he going with you?"

Tristan was already putting on his suit. "Grandma arranged a meeting with Katniss's mom to discuss the wedding. It's personal, he doesn't need to be there. I'm leaving."

He walked past Eudora and stepped into the elevator. Before the doors could close, Eudora squeezed in.

"Are you really going to marry Katniss just like that? Aren't you worried about Travis and Ivy?" she asked.

Tristan stared straight ahead and said in a low voice, "There's nothing to worry about; I can protect Katniss."

Eudora was left speechless.

All she could think about was the image of Tristan kissing Katniss in front of the reporters.

Katniss's every smile and frown was something everyone envied. But what about Eudora? She was unwillingly forced into sex by Michael on a couch.

The elevator doors opened, and Tristan walked out.

"Tristan," Eudora called out again, her voice calm. "I'm with Michael now."

Tristan turned sharply, his gaze intense.

Eudora's heart raced. Did this mean he didn't want her to be with Michael? Did he actually care about her?

She took a couple of steps towards him, about to say something, but Tristan cut her off. "Who you choose to be with is your choice, and I won't interfere. But Michael and I are destined to be enemies, and I won't be swayed by your decision. If you, like him, cross the line, I won't consider our twenty years of family ties!"

The only thing Tristan cared about was their twenty years of family ties.

But compared to his feelings for Katniss, those twenty years meant nothing!

Eudora had backed the wrong person, and Tristan wouldn't be lenient.

After saying this, Tristan turned and left with a grim expression.

His resolute back was reflected in Eudora's eyes as she walked out of Synergy Global Corporation in a daze, overhearing some employees' low conversations.

"I heard Mr. Gray say that Mr. Forbes and Katniss went to Azure Palace Hotel to discuss the wedding."

"Oh my god, I'm so jealous. When Katniss was here, I always thought she was so capable. No wonder she caught Mr. Forbes's attention!"

The discussions snapped Eudora back to reality, and she suddenly realized she had done something foolish.

In a moment of impulse, she tried to test Tristan's feelings for her by being with Michael.

But she forgot that Tristan and Michael were now at odds.

What was even more disheartening was the thought that Tristan might one day see her as an enemy."Mom, this is it. Look how big it is!" Jessica, holding Ember's arm, walked noisily towards the entrance of Synergy Global Corporation.

"Katniss used to work here as an assistant? She's so capable?" Ember was shocked.

For someone who had hardly ever been to a big city and had never seen such towering buildings, it was amazing.

Jessica felt a bit disdainful towards Ember, thinking she was ignorant. She said, "Mom, she used to work here. In the future, this place will be hers. As long as we get Katniss's money, we won't be able to spend it all in several lifetimes!"

Ember's eyes lit up, and she pulled Jessica, wanting to rush into Synergy Global Corporation.

Seeing this, Jessica, ever so sensible, said, "Mom, there are security guards at the entrance. We can't get in! Plus, we don't have Katniss's contact information. We'll have to wait here until she or Mr. Forbes shows up."

"Is it really that complicated?" Ember said with a furrowed brow. "Rupert is still with those people, and they've only given us a week. If we can't meet them in time, Rupert could be in danger!"

"Don't worry, Mr. Forbes comes to work every day. It won't take a week, we'll catch him in at most three days." Jessica was confident.

However, their conversation was overheard by the disheartened Eudora.

She keenly caught the name 'Katniss' and couldn't help but take a closer look at them.

Eudora had looked into Katniss's background and discovered that Sophia was not her biological mother. Katniss's birth mother had divorced Katniss's father when she was very young and taken Rupert with her.

It was said that when Katniss was working here as an assistant, she even used her connections to bring Jessica in.

From their conversation, it wasn't hard to deduce that they were Katniss's biological mother and Jessica!

"Are you here to find Katniss?" Eudora walked over and stopped Jessica and Ember, who were about to leave.

Jessica hesitated for a moment, then quickly nodded and replied, "Yes, we're looking for Katniss. Do you know where she is?"

Eudora smiled slightly and took out a card from her bag. "They're at Azure Palace Hotel. This is a VIP card for Azure Palace Hotel. You can use it to get in and find her. Her family and the Forbes family elders are discussing their wedding."

The blue VIP card had a layer of gold dust decoration, sparkling under the sunlight.

Jessica had seen the VIP card of Azure Palace Hotel before and recognized it as genuine at a glance!

She quickly took the card, thanked Eudora, and hurriedly pulled Ember along. She said, "Mom, let's go now. We can still catch lunch. The food there is really good, and it's only right for you, as her mother, to be there for the wedding discussion!"
