Chapter 342 This Child Really Came at the Wrong Time

The environment of the entertainment club was excellent, with intricately patterned carpets and the dazzling lights of the club.

The VIP room on the top floor was well soundproofed, and Katniss could only hear the noise coming from the half-open door of the room.

Eudora came to her side and had to deliberately lower her voice to ensure their conversation wouldn't be overheard.

"Katniss, no matter what, Synergy Global Corporation was once the hard work of you and Tristan. You don't want Synergy Global Corporation to just fall apart, do you? This is the first project Synergy Global Corporation has acquired since its restart. Your White Corporation doesn't need this one. Can you not get involved?"

No wonder she had to lower her voice; she was saying such shameless things.

Katniss was blocked at the door of the room, her bright eyes reflecting the luxurious scene inside.

"Ms. Savoy, I'm here to do business, not charity. Can you stop using emotional manipulation to take advantage? It makes me find you both pitiful and ridiculous."

She adjusted her uniform, raised her hand to push Eudora aside, and strode in.

Ryan didn't even greet Eudora and followed Katniss into the room.

Voices of greetings came from the room, different tones of Ms. Grey from different people, all with the same flattery.

Eudora walked out of the room, closed the door, pondered for a few seconds, and walked away.

Warren had just come out of the restroom and was washing his hands when a figure appeared behind him. When he saw who it was, he smiled.

"Ms. Savoy, why aren't you waiting in the room?"

"Mr. Dobbins, I want you to tell me, who exactly do you plan to transfer the club to?" Eudora stood beside Warren and asked bluntly.

So blunt that Warren's body stiffened, and he looked at her through the mirror, taking a while to react.

He smiled and took a paper towel to dry his hands. "Ms. Savoy, the highest bidder wins. I don't have a predetermined choice."

"Mr. Dobbins says there's no predetermined choice?" Eudora chuckled, "You've already decided on White Corporation, haven't you? After all, among the people here today, White Corporation is the most capable of offering a high price. And Katniss has been in charge of White Corporation for so long, there's nothing she wants that she can't get."

"If Ms. Savoy only has this much confidence, then there's no need to attend this dinner." Warren threw the paper towel into the trash can, put his hands in his pockets, and leaned against the sink.

He looked somewhat carefree, but his brown eyes were full of steadiness and composure.

In this line of work, frequenting entertainment venues is often unavoidable, but it doesn't mean everyone in this line of work is full of schemes.

For example, Warren, was an exception, far more reliable than the rumors suggested.

But obviously, Eudora was eager for quick success and didn't investigate Warren enough or thoroughly.

"Mr. Dobbins, this isn't about my confidence. I just want to remind you, you can make things difficult for Katniss. After all, since she joined White Corporation, she's been unstoppable. Many people are watching her, waiting to see her fail. For White Corporation, acquiring your club is just a small project. If she can't get it, it would be very embarrassing."

In short, she wanted Warren to make things difficult for Katniss.

The moment Katniss appeared, Eudora knew her chances of acquiring the club were slim.

Warren stared at her for a while, then suddenly laughed, "Ms. Savoy, isn't this a bit inappropriate?"

"What's inappropriate? Scheming in business is common, isn't it? I'm just kindly reminding you, Mr. Dobbins."

Eudora smiled lightly, "As for what to do, that's up to you, Mr. Dobbins. I'll be leaving now."

She waved at Warren and turned to leave.

The entertainment club was bustling with people. Katniss didn't overshadow the host and sat in a relatively corner position.

But it didn't stop people from coming up to greet her, with various attempts to get close or business pleasantries.

Back in the room, Eudora didn't approach Katniss again, sensibly sitting in a position farther from her.

There were also people who occasionally chatted with her, after all, she was one of the only two women present, giving her some respect.

Soon, Warren returned.

Katniss finished her conversation with the person next to her, stood up, and walked towards Warren, "Mr. Dobbins, long time no see."

"Ms. Grey, long time no see." Warren smiled brightly, "When I saw you before, you were Mr. Forbes' assistant. I praised you for being capable more than once to Mr. Forbes. Sure enough, now you're in charge."

With that, the people who were already flattering Katniss quickly followed suit, showering her with praise.

It was only then that Eudora realized that Katniss and Warren had known each other for a long time.

So the things she said, Warren wouldn't take to heart, and might even tell Katniss.

She didn't care if Katniss knew, only that she lost another chance to create trouble for Katniss.

The room was brightly lit, and everyone's admiration for Katniss was evident.

After a few group chats, Warren turned and started talking quietly with Katniss.

"Ms. Grey and Ms. Savoy don't get along?"

Katniss immediately understood what Eudora had said to Warren, "In business, everyone is a competitor. Let's not talk about getting along or not."

Warren laughed and patted his leg, "That's true, but luckily you ran into me today. If it were someone else... Ms. Grey might be in trouble today."

A woman in a man's world either has to be strong enough to be taken seriously or must be able to accept some losses.

As for what kind of losses, Katniss knew all too well.

She moved her lips, about to say something, when suddenly a cold liquid was spilled on her pant leg.

Her eyes moved slightly, and before she could see who it was, Eudora had already turned to grab some napkins.

"Sorry, Ms. Grey, I didn't mean to. I just came over to toast you. I didn't expect this. Please don't be angry."

"Ms. Savoy, I'll handle it." Ryan quickly came over, didn't take the napkins from her hand, grabbed two new ones, and handed them to Katniss.

Katniss adjusted her pant leg, not knowing what kind of juice Eudora had spilled, which dripped down her pant leg onto her foot.

It made her foot feel sticky.

"Ms. Grey, there are spare shoes in the car. I'll get them for you and find a room for you to change in."

Ryan took out his phone and tapped a few times, already booking a new room.

Although it was just changing shoes, with so many people present, all men, it was impolite.

"Mr. Dobbins, excuse me for a moment." Katniss stood up and walked out of the room, with Ryan following closely behind, muttering softly, "She did it on purpose. I saw her trip herself."

Katniss responded calmly, "I know, she probably wants to take the opportunity to win over Mr. Dobbins while I'm not there."

Just a small scheme.

Ryan pointed to a room at the end of the hall, "That's the room I just booked. You can rest inside while I get your shoes."

With that, he hurriedly left by the elevator.

In the dimly lit room, Katniss only turned on a dim light and called the club's service staff to bring some warm water.

Her foot was sticky, and just changing shoes wouldn't help; she needed to wash it.

About five or six minutes later, there was a knock on the door.

"Hello, I've brought the warm water."

The voice sounded familiar. Katniss paused for a few seconds before responding, "Come in."

The door opened, and the bright light from the hallway shone in. Even though Hazel was backlit, her features somewhat blurred, Katniss recognized her immediately.

Because of her overly sexy figure.

After giving Hazel that card last time, Hazel hadn't been to White Corporation since.

Unexpectedly, they met here.

"Ms. Grey?" Hazel walked in with the warm water and placed it beside her. "Why are you here?"

"Here for a social event." Katniss glanced at the badge on her chest, still an intern.

Hazel pursed her lips, not saying anything.

Katniss asked first, "So, did you return the card to Benjamin?"

Otherwise, why would she be working here?

The salary was high, probably why Hazel came for the money.

Unexpectedly, Hazel shook her head, "I didn't return it. I just didn't spend a penny. If I returned it, he might say I was playing hard to get."

Katniss didn't ask further, cleaning the sticky liquid off her foot, but Ryan hadn't arrived yet.

She could only wait and chat with Hazel a bit more.

"This isn't a good place. If you keep working here, protect yourself."

Hazel nodded, looking touched, "Thank you, Ms. Grey. I'll take good care of myself."

Before she could finish speaking, she suddenly covered her mouth and gagged, then waved at Katniss and rushed out the door.

Katniss stared at her hurried back, momentarily unable to react.

"Ms. Grey, I brought the shoes!" Ryan pushed the door open, placing a pair of flats in front of her.

She changed her shoes, walked out of the room, and looked around, but Hazel was nowhere to be seen.

After a moment, she decided not to worry about Hazel and was about to return to the original room when she saw Warren coming out.

"They all gave me their offers just now." Warren said, curling his lip, "I'm not satisfied with any of the prices. Since no one is around, I'll tell you my bottom price. See if you can..."

In the restroom, Hazel was vomiting violently, tears streaming down her face.

She leaned over the sink, not caring that her clothes were soaked by the water on the sink, looking very disheveled.

After a long time, her hand slowly climbed to her lower abdomen, a bitter smile appearing on her lips, "You came at the wrong time."

She had just gotten that card and was about to return it to Benjamin when the endless morning sickness began.

To prevent the child from being discovered, she decisively chose not to return the card.

If she ran out of money in the future, she would use Benjamin's money to raise Benjamin's child.

If she had money in the future, she wouldn't touch a penny of it.

Because she didn't want to owe Benjamin anything.

So she came to work here, thinking she would only work for a few months, cautiously earning some money, and nothing would go wrong.

Unexpectedly, after just a few days, she ran into Katniss.

However, Katniss didn't follow her, clearly not caring much about her well-being.

She vomited until she was dizzy, sliding down the edge of the sink to sit on the floor, taking a lemon candy from her pocket and putting it in her mouth.

Feeling a bit better, she looked up and suddenly saw a pair of shiny leather shoes and a pair of straight legs in front of her.
