Chapter 374 Choosing Me Is Definitely the Right Decision
Every time they argued over these trivial matters, Aaron couldn't be bothered to argue with Eudora.
He wanted to go straight upstairs, but suddenly felt a sharp pain in his shoulder.
Eudora had thrown a water cup at him, hitting his shoulder before it fell to the ground.
The crisp sound of breaking glass was particularly jarring. Aaron turned around and stared at her from the stairs.
"Are you crazy?"
"I'm not crazy!" Eudora strode over and pointed at the house. "Do you know? I'm no longer the CEO of Synergy Global Corporation, and this house will soon no longer belong to me!"
Aaron pursed his lips and watched her go mad.
"Travis has fallen from power, and no one can help me anymore. My wealth and glory are gone! It's all Katniss and Tristan's fault. If you hadn't hidden the fact that they already had a child from me, things wouldn't have come to this!"
Blaming everything on Aaron, Eudora's resentment grew even stronger.
"You are all my stumbling blocks. You are like this, and so are those damn parents! You shouldn't exist in this world. Sooner or later, I'll get rid of you, too! You couldn't protect me and let the Forbes family take me away, and now you keep causing me endless trouble and exploiting me!"
She felt like the most wronged person in the world, tears streaming down her face as she clutched her hair in pain and squatted on the ground.
Aaron stared at her for a long while before suddenly walking down the stairs, bending over to grab her shoulder, and making her stand up. "What are you talking about? Who are you going to get rid of? What do you mean by getting rid of me, too?"
He squeezed Eudora's shoulder painfully.
Eudora quickly came to her senses, her body trembling slightly as she pushed him away. "I don't understand what you're saying. Go upstairs and rest. I need to find a house. We're moving to a smaller place."
Before Aaron could react, she turned around, grabbed her bag from the hallway, and hurriedly left.
Aaron was pushed against the wall, stepping on a piece of broken glass that pierced his shoe, causing a sharp pain in his foot.
Blood instantly dripped onto the floor.
He squatted down to pull out the glass shard and limped around the room looking for a first aid kit to treat the wound.
Although the wound was deep, he had no money to go to the hospital.
Eudora, who had stormed out, drove straight to the city but didn't know where to go.
She thought about going to a bar to drown her sorrows, but her remaining rationality told her that she couldn't fall into depravity.
Otherwise, it would be over.
She bought a pack of beer from a supermarket and parked in an empty area in the suburbs to drink alone.
Drunk, she fell asleep in the car until dawn.
In the early morning, she was awakened by a rapid knocking on the window, her head throbbing.
She opened her eyes to see Mike peering into the car.
She was startled and took a few seconds to realize he was one of Sam's biological father's men.
"Get out, let's talk." Mike smiled at her when he saw she was awake and pointed to a car not far away.
Eudora smoothed her hair and got out of the car, walking over to the car Mike had indicated.
The car door was half-open, and she could only see a man's long legs and a gold-tipped cane in his hand.
The sunlight reflected off the cane, making it hard for her to see anything else inside the car, not even the man's face.
"Eudora, our boss has something to discuss with you," Mike explained.
Eudora's breath caught. So the person in the car was Sam's biological father?
She quickly nodded slightly. "Hello, I'm Eudora."
"Hello." A pair of unnaturally white hands extended from the car.
The voice inexplicably made Eudora nervous. She stared at the hands for a few seconds before slowly shaking them.
"I have something good here and need someone to test it. If the experiment is successful, it will make a lot of money. If you are willing to work for me, you will benefit greatly."
The unnaturally white hands took out a vial of clear liquid from a pocket and waved it in front of Eudora.
"Isn't it easy to find someone? What do you need my help with?" Eudora swallowed and asked.
The man chuckled. "Have you forgotten who I want to find? You even gave me the idea."
Eudora's pupils suddenly contracted. "But Travis has already fallen. You don't need to go to such lengths to go against Tristan, do you?"
She thought Sam's biological father would find a new target since Tristan had already failed.
"The test subject I want has little to do with Travis. I just want to find someone influential to provoke those cops trying to catch me."
It was blatant provocation, seeking excitement.
Because if something happened to someone influential, they wouldn't let it go and would pressure the police for results.
But the police couldn't catch him or give an explanation.
How fun was that?
Realizing the man was toying with people's lives, Eudora's heart raced.
She hesitated for a long time before saying, "What can I do to help you?"
"The opponent you chose for me is very strong and challenging. You need to help me track their movements and lure them out when necessary."
The man discussed this sinister plan in a lighthearted tone.
Eudora could even imagine that he didn't care about human lives.
In front of such a person, she had no right to refuse.
The image of Tristan announcing his marriage to the Grey family kept flashing in her mind. She clenched her hand on her clothes tightly.
After a long time, she suddenly smiled. "Don't worry, I won't disappoint you. Choosing me is the right choice..."
Sophia had sent messages to Odette but hadn't received a reply.
In the evening, when Katniss came back, Sophia couldn't help but talk to her. "How long will this go on? They've been married for so long, and George is always busy. What could be more important than marriage?"
"What does Matilda say?" Katniss thought it wasn't entirely George's fault for dragging things out.
Matilda probably hadn't pushed George enough.
Sophia wanted to help, but didn't know where to start.
"Matilda hasn't said anything, but I heard from the receptionist at the education institution that Matilda hasn't been in good spirits lately, arriving late in the morning. I saw her today and noticed she didn't look well."
How could Sophia not be anxious? Matilda wasn't young anymore. If they hadn't registered their marriage, it would be one thing, but having the certificate and not being recognized was a real heartache for her!
"Mom, don't worry. Tomorrow is Saturday, and I don't have work. I'll go to the educational institution and talk to Matilda to see what she thinks. You're right; we should get this sorted out soon."
Katniss comforted Sophia. This matter had indeed dragged on for too long.
