Chapter 331 Let's Have a Son in the Future

Matilda walked a bit further before realizing that Katniss was standing in the living room watching her. She was startled, tightly clutching her clothes in front of her.

"What's wrong?" Katniss was puzzled by her strange behavior.

Matilda quickly shook her head, forced a smile, and replied, "You scared me. When did you come back last night?"

As she spoke, she walked towards her room, "I thought you didn't come back."

"I came back in the middle of the night. What are you holding?" Katniss noticed she was holding something mysteriously.

She giggled and said, "Nothing, just a book I left in mom's room yesterday. I had time to get it back. Hurry up and wash up for breakfast. I have to go to the office later..."

By the time she finished speaking, Matilda had already gone back to her room.

Katniss didn't pay much attention to her mysterious behavior and turned to help in the dining room.

After breakfast, she went to the hospital. Emory had something to discuss with Tristan and hitched a ride with her.

Tristan was in a VIP room on the top floor of the inpatient department. The two took the elevator to the top floor and were immediately stopped by two well-dressed bodyguards as soon as they stepped out.

There were hardly any patients on this floor. It had been very quiet during the days Katniss was there taking care of Tristan.

But at this moment, the long corridor seemed even more empty and silent.

"What are you doing?" Emory glanced at the bodyguards, sizing them up, "Why are you stopping us?"

"Mr. Buckner, we are not stopping you, only Miss Grey." The bodyguard's face was firm and unyielding.

Katniss was taken aback and understood, "Mrs. Forbes sent you?"

The bodyguard looked straight ahead and said, "Yes, Miss Grey, please don't make it difficult for us."

Emory sneered, "Who gave you the guts to stop her? The person in the ward probably doesn't know, right? Otherwise, you two would have been fired long ago."

He pointed at Katniss and arrogantly said, "I don't dare to mess with her, and you dare?"

"We work for Mrs. Forbes. We do whatever Mrs. Forbes says. Please, Miss Grey, don't make it difficult for us."

They knew that Katniss was not someone to be trifled with, so they had to explain the reason.

Emory wanted to say something, but Katniss interrupted, "Mrs. Forbes asked you to guard this floor, not allowing anyone to come and go freely, especially not letting me see him, right?"

The bodyguard nodded, "Yes."

"That's easy." Katniss took out her phone and made a call to Tristan. He answered within seconds.

"You took longer than I expected." Tristan's tone was a bit complaining, "Didn't we agree you'd come earlier in the morning?"

Katniss looked at her watch. Tristan had even figured out her biological clock during these days in the hospital.

"Come out and change rooms."

There was a moment of silence on the other end, and within seconds, the ward door opened.

Tristan's eyes narrowed slightly, staring at the two bodyguards blocking Katniss at the elevator door, releasing a dangerous aura.

He hung up the phone and walked over, kicking each bodyguard in the leg a few times, making them fall to the ground and unable to get up.

"Go to the outpatient building to get your injuries checked, report back, and tell grandma that my wounds are about to split open because I hit you. If she's not afraid of me dying, she can keep sending people over."

The two bodyguards looked grim, got up, and took orders, "Yes."

They cautiously watched Tristan, who was fierce in front of them but seemed like a different person in front of Katniss.

Tristan held Katniss's hand, interlocking their fingers, and walked back to the ward, "Why is he here?"

He clearly annoyed that Emory was disturbing their peace.

"To discuss work with you." Katniss's response was cut off by the gradually closing door.

Emory realized what was happening, turned around, and glared at the two bodyguards, "Still standing here? Hurry up and get your injuries checked and report back. Remember to avoid this kind of task next time."

The two bodyguards, after being scolded, had to thank Emory for his advice.

Emory entered the ward just half a minute later than Tristan and Katniss, only to find Katniss's lips slightly red.

Her short hair, which was originally tucked behind her ears, was now scattered around her cheeks.

"Sign these two contracts." Emory said unkindly to the smug Tristan, "After you sign them, I have to go back to see my goddaughter. When will your injury heal? There are so many things at the company, and I barely have time to spend with my goddaughter."

Tristan tilted his head to look at Katniss, his voice low and particularly pleasant in the quiet ward, "Katniss, bring me a pen."

It seemed like he didn't answer Emory's question or care about Emory showing off his goddaughter.

But it also seemed like he answered everything?

Emory couldn't stand it anymore, "There's a pen clipped to the documents I gave you!"

"Yours is not good." Tristan took the pen off and casually threw it at Emory, who fumbled to catch it but eventually dropped it on the floor.

By the time he picked it up, Katniss had already brought a pen and thoughtfully unscrewed the cap for him.

Tristan signed his name casually and then threw the contract to the end of the bed, "Signed, take it away."

As he bent down to pick up the contract, Tristan was already holding Katniss's hand, playing with it.

After just one night apart, it felt like decades had passed.

Emory couldn't tell if Tristan was truly head over heels in love or just putting on a show for him.

Emory wanted to say more, but Tristan's gaze at Katniss was already filled with love.

Emory waved his hand and said, "I'm leaving."

As soon as Emory left the room, he counted to five and suddenly reopened the door, wanting to see if Tristan was just putting on a show for him.

He expected to see Tristan back to his cold demeanor.

But what he saw was Tristan pinning Katniss on the hospital bed, kissing her passionately.

So it was all an act, and Tristan was just pretending to be reserved!

Emory cursed, closed the door, and ran off.

Katniss turned away, her cheek buried in Tristan's neck, both laughing and annoyed, "Were you teasing him on purpose?"

"No," he said hoarsely, "I've been holding back for a long time. He has no sense of the atmosphere."

Katniss's legs were trapped between Tristan's, her head resting on his right arm, and his injured left hand pressing on her waist, making her afraid to resist too much.

Tristan took advantage of this, clinging to her.

During his hospital stay, Tristan would kiss her lips whenever he could, never settling for just her cheek, completely unrestrained.

With no one to disturb them, they were honestly a bit bored.

So Emory sending photos and videos of Evie to their group chat became their only source of entertainment.

When it came to the topic of discharge, Emory enthusiastically welcomed Tristan to stay at his place, making work convenient without having to go out.

Additionally, he could see Evie every day. Since Katniss's place couldn't accommodate them, Emory secretly planned for Katniss and their family of three to stay at his place.

After much consideration, Tristan agreed.

After lunch, Tristan and Katniss took a nap.

While they slept soundly in the hospital, many shocking events were happening outside.

The true financial statements of White Corporation from the past decade were exposed, and the Bureau of Investigation immediately sought out the then-responsible person, Beau, for investigation and questioning.

Faced with irrefutable evidence, Beau was speechless and was taken away for detention and interrogation.

Many companies that had cooperated with White Corporation for years were on edge, fearing that if Beau revealed any falsified accounts, they would be implicated.

They faced the possibility of being investigated as well.

But which company could withstand such scrutiny?

So, within an afternoon, many partners proposed terminating their contracts.

Benjamin, following Katniss's instructions, negotiated the terminations, signing the contracts within half an hour as long as the breach penalties were paid.

But the breach penalties were a significant amount, and no one wanted to pay.

Some weighed the pros and cons and paid to terminate the contracts, while others decided to take a gamble and not terminate.

Even so, it had a considerable impact on White Corporation.

Some ongoing projects faced resource shortages, which Benjamin supplemented with resources from the Adams family.

The Adams family had to accept their bad luck, suspecting that Benjamin had done it on purpose, but without evidence, they could only help Benjamin calmly, hoping to make up for it later.

Katniss slept until the evening, exhausted and deeply asleep.

Tristan, however, didn't sleep well because of Evie.

Perhaps it was because Emory kept showing off Evie, always saying that he and Katniss couldn't have a child as beautiful as Evie.

Then Tristan had a dream where Katniss was pregnant and gave birth to a girl.

Her eyes were just slits, her mouth took up half her face, and her nose was flat and wide.

He found it unbearable, indescribable, and felt a sense of unease.

In the dream, Katniss, who had just given birth, cried, saying their daughter was so ugly, not even a fraction as beautiful as Evie.

Tristan woke up in a cold sweat, frozen in place for a long time, afraid that the dream was real.

After calming down, he gradually came to his senses. Though it was just a dream, the sense of disappointment was strong, making him feel a bit anxious.

He looked down at the woman in his arms, her cheeks flushed, lips glossy, and long, thick eyelashes.

He kissed her cheek, trying to compensate for the disappointment in his heart.

Katniss woke up from the kiss, feeling the heat of his breath. She grabbed Tristan's arm, tilting her head to meet his varying kisses.

Katniss felt Tristan's desire rising again. She pushed his chest, her voice hoarse, "Stop it, let me wake up a bit."

"Katniss, let's have a son in the future." Tristan rested his chin on her shoulder, his gaze falling on her slightly open neckline.

His already deep eyes darkened further. He reached out to straighten her collar, covering her sexy chest.

Katniss tilted her head, pushing Tristan's forehead with her other hand to make him look at her.

"What do you mean?" Do you not like daughters?

"I just think... a son would be better." Tristan thought, if they had a son who was ugly, at least there wouldn't be much comparison, it wouldn't be as bad.
