Chapter 384 Never Have Any Contact with Her Again

Ryan was also called over by Tristan to report Duke's whereabouts in person.

As soon as he entered, he saw Emory standing in a corner, doing something unknown.

"Where is he?" Tristan asked, a cigarette between his thin lips, legs apart, and expressionless as he looked at Ryan.

Ryan quickly walked up to him, whispered something in his ear, then stood up straight and said, "However, Duke's hideout has been raided, so we can't track where he went by helicopter for now."

But they had already set a specific time and place for his escape.

"Mr. Soderberg..." Ryan paused, observing Tristan's expression, and said, "Although he was forced to reveal this information to you, he hopes you will keep your promise and not disclose his connection with Duke."

Tristan's narrow eyes exuded a cold aura. Duke was trying to escape, and Emory's earlier mention of the drug kept echoing in his mind.

He interlaced his fingers, pressing them against his forehead, deep in thought.

"Where the hell is that bastard running to?" Emory snapped out of it, pulled out his phone, and was about to call Nelson. "Tell me, what's his location? If we don't catch him this time, I won't be called Buckner!"

Before Ryan could say anything, the call was already connected, and he spoke directly, "Tristan has found Duke's whereabouts. You guys, hurry... What? Not catching him?"

Nelson's voice, with a foreign accent, came through, "Duke's power is gone. He can only rely on criminals from various countries. We're hoping to use him as bait to catch bigger fish..."

"Fuck!" Emory cursed directly, "He broke the law. Don't you know what he did to Tristan? Are you even human?"

He was furious, but Nelson didn't react much, quietly listening to his rant, then said, "We have already tracked Duke's movements. Once he leaves the city, someone will follow him. Lyanna and I will return then. Do you want to see her?"

Mentioning Lyanna at this moment only made Emory angrier.

"She lied to me with you. I'll never have anything to do with her in this life. Get lost!"

Emory hung up the phone, his chest heaving with anger.

Without needing an explanation, Tristan could tell what their plan was.

Their goal was singular: to eliminate all evil forces, even if it meant sacrificing lives.

But his goal was singular too: to eliminate future troubles.

To ensure that Katniss and Evie would never face such a situation again, and now... he still had the drug injected into his body.

Whether it succeeded or not, Duke would always have people watching in the shadows. Even if the drug didn't destroy him, it could still bring trouble to Katniss.

After a long contemplation, he stood up, "Let's go back."

"Back where?" Emory quickly got up, "The doctor suggested you be hospitalized immediately for observation, in case something goes wrong, so we can find a solution in time."

Hospitalized? That would mean he had to confess to Katniss about the drug and the potential future issues.

His hand, hanging by his side, tightened, filled with strength yet seemingly powerless.

After a long time, he finally said, "Just help me keep it a secret for three days."

Without caring about Emory's anxious look, he strode away.

Ryan, completely unaware of what had happened, glanced at Emory and quickly followed Tristan out.

"Mr. Forbes, what's wrong with your body? What needs to be observed?"

"Nothing." Only Emory and Nicholas knew about the drug injection.

He had no intention of telling anyone else. Walking to the car by the street, he said, "Make sure Aubrey reveals Duke's detailed escape plan. Book me a ticket to the city for the day before Duke leaves."

After saying that, he opened the car door, got in, fastened his seatbelt, started the engine, and drove away in one smooth motion.

Ryan stood there, stunned. So Tristan was going to the city to stop Duke from leaving?

But Nelson's group wouldn't make an arrest. Even if he went, no one would cooperate with him to catch Duke!

Countless questions popped into Ryan's mind, but he couldn't figure out what Tristan was planning. He could only follow Tristan's instructions.

The night was long, and the autumn night was unusually cold.

Katniss's hands and feet were icy. Even though Evie, in her arms, was warm, it couldn't warm her up.

If she left for a moment, Evie would wake up. She could only lie on her side, letting Evie cling tightly to her.

Tristan lay down beside her, letting her back rest against his chest.

His heartbeat was strong in Katniss's ear.

In the latter half of the night, Evie slept more soundly.

Katniss, however, slept fitfully, always uneasy.

Until his hand passed through her neck, his veins clear, wrapping around her shoulder, holding her tightly.

Only then did she feel a sense of security, unable to resist the drowsiness and gradually falling asleep.

In the early morning, a sharp cry woke Katniss abruptly.

She quickly picked up Evie, soothing her softly, "Evie, it's okay. Mommy's here. Don't be afraid!"

Tristan, who had just woken up, suddenly found his hand weak. He tried to sit up but fell back onto the bed awkwardly.

A muffled sound, covered by Evie's cries, went unnoticed by Katniss as she continued to soothe Evie.

Tristan glanced at his completely numb hand, his thin lips pressed tightly, his brows furrowed.

His fingers were numb, no matter how hard he tried to control that arm, the hand lay motionless on the bed.

"What's wrong?" Katniss, having just calmed Evie a bit, saw him staring at his hand in a daze and couldn't help but ask.

Tristan looked back, his eyes meeting hers for a few seconds before he suddenly smiled, "Held you all night, it's numb."

"I'll help you massage it after I calm Evie." She took Evie's favorite toy. Although Evie's eyes were red and teary, she didn't cry anymore.

She placed Evie in Tristan's arms, then sat beside him to massage the numb arm.

Katniss's cool fingertips gently kneaded his arm. At first, he felt nothing, but gradually he sensed her pressure.

Blood circulation resumed, and soon his arm regained feeling.

Tristan clenched his fist, stopping her from continuing, "It's okay, not numb anymore."

She lay down beside him, the two of them surrounding Evie, speaking softly as they played with her.

Although Evie had been frightened, her condition improved significantly, and Katniss breathed a sigh of relief.

But she still didn't go to the company. Benjamin and Samuel, knowing her situation, took over her work.

However, no one was managing Zenith Group, but Katniss noticed that Ryan wasn't reporting Zenith Group's work to her but was frequently calling Tristan.

Early in the morning, after breakfast, Tristan received a call from Ryan, talking for a full half hour before coming out of the study.

"I'll go to Zenith Group later, and tonight... I might have to go on a business trip."
