Chapter 410 Notify Even After Death
Indulgent and lingering, the two were tightly entwined, bathed in the morning sunlight.
Katniss just tilted her head back, her hand gripping his shirt tightly, letting him take the lead.
He stopped after a brief taste, his forehead resting against hers, "If I'm not around in the future, Nicholas and Emory can help you. Don't be too distant with them."
Although Nicholas hadn't said anything these past few days, he could see the resentment in Nicholas. It was clear Katniss had done something. Katniss quietly pressed her forehead against his, not saying a word.
"No need to keep running to the hospital, there are doctors here." He spoke again, his hand sliding down her shoulder to cover her hand.
His fingers were somewhat stiff, not as nimble and warm as before.
She lowered her eyes and saw two of his fingers turning blue. "What happened?"
"Accidentally hurt them, it doesn't hurt." Tristan moved his hand behind his back.
Her gaze followed his hand until she couldn't see his fingers anymore, then she gently pushed him away.
"Don't bring Evie here either, hospitals are full of germs." Tristan took a step to her side, leaning against the window, bathed in the morning sunlight with her.
Katniss smoothed her long hair, wanting to say all the words and questions in her heart, but his few words suppressed them.
She nodded, "Got it. From now on, I'll make time to visit you amidst my busy work. If there's anything wrong with your health, have them notify me immediately, even if you die."
He frowned, raising his hand to tap her forehead.
The movement and force were gentle and light, but she stood there unmoving, letting him tap.
"Is there anything else I can help you with?" She pulled his hand down from her forehead, all her words and emotions hidden in this sentence.
After all, she couldn't let him bear it alone, and she couldn't work in peace.
Tristan pondered for a moment, his thin lips parting to reveal a name, "Go check on Sam. He studied medicine abroad back then, see where he is now."
Among this group, the only one who might have contact with Ivy and Sam was Eudora.
Although Katniss hadn't seen Eudora since Tristan's accident, she knew where Eudora was.
Eudora had sold the villa and bought a small house, living off her savings.
A few times, Eudora had waited outside Katniss's villa, saying nothing, just leaving after seeing Katniss.
She wanted to see if Katniss was miserable without Tristan.
During that time, Katniss appeared fine on the surface, but she couldn't withstand any blows to her heart.
So, besides desperately searching for Tristan, she focused on her work, knowing Eudora would want to provoke her, so she didn't give Eudora the chance.
"Go find Ryan, he's already investigated some things about Eudora that can help you."
Tristan's eyes seemed to see through her thoughts.
She didn't stay any longer; the longer she stayed, the harder it would be to leave.
He didn't keep her either, leaning against the window, watching her leave the ward. Through the slowly closing door, he could still see Emory and Nicholas quickly walking to Katniss's side.
"Is that all you talked about?" Nicholas said, "Did you tell him you got me drunk and I only revealed some things after drinking too much?"
He wasn't sure what exactly he had revealed, but he guessed Katniss wanted to know something from him.
But Nicholas didn't understand, Katniss wouldn't tell Tristan she knew everything, so she didn't mention it.
"He asked me to find Sam. You two also keep an eye out. If there's any news, let me know immediately."
She said as she walked to the elevator, pressing the button, and left before Emory and Nicholas could ask more.
Emory asked Nicholas woodenly, "Why didn't she cry?"
"If she cried, you and I would be dead." Nicholas patted Emory's shoulder, "The stronger they seem, the longer we can live. If they break down, it means Tristan really can't hold on."
Katniss wouldn't say it, but she surely resented them for hiding Tristan's whereabouts.
If the worst happened, her relationship with them wouldn't be good.
"Katniss can't be that unreasonable," Emory said.
Nicholas smirked, "Is this about being reasonable? Emotions can't be controlled."
When Katniss drove back to the company, her eyes were still red, but no one could tell because she was wearing sunglasses.
She had already contacted Ryan on the way, and he had sent over all the information he had on Eudora.
He had investigated it long ago, but after Tristan's accident, he hadn't brought it up.
Before Eudora was adopted by the Forbes family, her life was unhappy.
When Ivy adopted Eudora, it was clearly stated in the contract that Eudora's uterus had to be removed.
To avoid future trouble from the Savoy family, it was written in black and white.
Eudora's parents agreed immediately, took a large sum of money, and let the Forbes family take Eudora without hesitation.
Eudora remembered that scene clearly.
So if she hated anyone, besides Travis and Ivy, she hated her parents even more.
After squandering the money from selling Eudora, her parents pestered Eudora for more money.
Finally, Eudora was driven to the edge and staged a car accident, killing her parents.
The only one left was Aaron, whom she hadn't planned to care for, but later, when Tristan happened to go to Nightfall City, she acknowledged Aaron to have more ties with Tristan.
The information Ryan sent to Katniss was evidence that Eudora had bribed a truck driver to kill her parents.
In the evening, Katniss went directly to Eudora's place.
She knocked on the door, and Eudora's voice came from inside, "Leave the delivery at the door, I'll get it myself."
"It's me, open the door."
As soon as Katniss finished speaking, she heard the sound of movement inside.
After a while, the door was opened from the inside, revealing Eudora and a man.
The man, wearing a tank top, brushed past Katniss and left.
The air was filled with a nauseating scent of hormones.
The once-proud Eudora still had a bit of arrogance in her eyes, but her appearance was unkempt.
She opened the window to let in some air, sat on the sofa, and lit a cigarette.
Once the smell dissipated a bit, Katniss entered and threw a sealed bag in front of Eudora.
"Katniss, you've had a tough time recently, haven't you? Afraid to see me?" Eudora said as she opened the bag, "Now that you've recovered, you're here to settle accounts with me? How cowardly!"
Katniss stood with her hands in her pockets, letting Eudora talk tough. When Eudora saw the contents of the bag and her expression changed, and Katniss began to speak.
