Chapter 355 Do You Love Her?

Katniss was holding a bag in one hand and a lottery ticket in the other, which she had just received from the salesperson. She scratched it off, but it wasn't a winner.

"You see, I didn't spend any money," she said, tossing the losing ticket into the trash can.

She wanted to draw another one, but the salesperson quickly stopped her, "Miss, we only allow one ticket per person."

"Then I won't come back," Katniss said, turning to Rupert, "You go ahead."

Rupert quickly drew a ticket and scratched it a bit, but he had never dealt with this kind of thing before and couldn't make sense of it after looking at it for a while.

The salesperson took the scratched ticket and then, trembling with excitement, said, "Sir, you've won a million dollars!"

Rupert was stunned and stood there in shock.

"Oh my God, I get a ten-thousand-dollar commission!" The salesperson screamed with joy, "Sir, you're so lucky. Do you have time now to come with me and handle the paperwork with your ID?"

"No way..." Rupert still felt like he was dreaming, "Are you kidding me? How could I win a million dollars?"

The salesperson stood next to him and explained how to read the winning ticket.

Meanwhile, Katniss stood with her bag in both hands, watching Rupert in a daze, and remembered how he used to follow her around when he was little.

She would tease him, and he would believe her naively.

So many years had passed, and although he had grown up, his clueless reaction to situations hadn't changed.

"Katniss, will you come with me?" Rupert whispered to Katniss, "I think he's a scammer."

"What?" Katniss couldn't help but laugh, "What would he scam you for?  What would he do with you?"

Rupert scratched his head in embarrassment, "How could there be such a good thing? I'm afraid it's a trap, handling paperwork and all that. What if they trick me? I'm not educated, I don't understand."

He didn't believe he could be so lucky, but he still held onto a bit of hope.

Katniss agreed, "I'll go with you."

"He said his shop is nearby. I'll take you there on my motorcycle. Cars can't get in; it's a pedestrian shopping street."

He grinned widely, pushed out his motorcycle, wiped the back seat vigorously, and then sat on it, "Come on, Katniss!"

"OK." Katniss, wearing a skirt, sat sideways.

It was still hot in the early autumn noon, but the breeze from the motorcycle ride was just right.

The salesperson ran behind the motorcycle, and they arrived at the shop in less than two minutes.

The storefront looked shabby, dedicated to lottery tickets, which made Rupert believe most of it.

But he still relied on Katniss, quietly asking her if anything seemed off.

Katniss, amused, asked them to bring out the agreement and then filled in Rupert's personal information.

When filling in the ID number, Rupert whispered, "Will they use my ID to take out a loan? Or use my bank account number for something?"

"It's just the ID number, it's fine. All loans require either the person or the original document to process. Just fill it in."

After about ten minutes, Rupert finished filling out the information.

The salesperson said, "Sir, because there's a one percent fee, the amount you'll receive is nine hundred ninety thousand dollars."

"Got it." Rupert listened to the salesperson's explanation and then left with Katniss.

"If this is fake, it would have wasted your work time," Rupert said, pushing his motorcycle back, looking up at the towering White Corporation building, "You should hurry back to work."

Katniss responded, reminding him, "Remember to check your account. Didn't the salesperson say it would be credited within two hours?"

"OK." Rupert replied nonchalantly, got on his motorcycle, and put on his helmet, "I'm off!"

The motorcycle slowly left, needing to pass through a long pedestrian street to reach the main road.

But before he could completely leave, he suddenly slowed down a lot and took out his phone to check.

Suddenly, he and the motorcycle fell together, but he was ecstatic.

"Katniss, the money's in!"

He sat on the ground, waving his phone at Katniss.

His voice was so loud that it drew the attention of people around.

Katniss laughed, walked over, and helped him up, "Get up. You can use this money to open a pasta restaurant. The rent, renovation, and capital are all covered. Let me know when you open, and I'll come to eat pasta."

Rupert kept his head down, not getting up no matter how hard Katniss tried.

Until suddenly, a drop of liquid fell on the speckled floor, followed by two or three more.

Katniss stopped trying to pull him up.

"Katniss, thank you." Rupert hugged Katniss's leg, his head resting on her knee, crying so hard his body trembled.

It turned out he had realized it.

"Thank me for what?" Katniss pretended not to know, "In the future, when I come to your pasta restaurant, I won't pay. Over a lifetime, who knows how much I'll eat from you."

Rupert wiped his tears, quickly raised his head, "Don't worry, even in the next life, and the life after that, I'll remember this kindness and won't charge your children, grandchildren, or great-grandchildren!"

He stood up, his eyes red, looking at Katniss, and vowed, "I won't let you down. I'll make the pasta restaurant a success, and I'll repay you."

"Go ahead." Katniss patted Rupert's shoulder, "I have work to do. You should get busy with whatever you need to do."

The two of them stood in the commercial pedestrian street for a long time before parting ways.

After watching Katniss leave, the first thing Rupert did was take out his phone and call Jessica.

"Honey, quit your job, come home, we're opening a pasta restaurant... I have money! Yes... I won the lottery!"

At White Corporation, as soon as Katniss returned, Ryan quickly approached her.

"Those old folks, are really despicable," he said, handing over an invitation.

The bright red invitation clearly stated that it was for Travis and Ivy's wedding anniversary, and Katniss was invited.

It was a business invitation, not including Tristan, but it didn't say she couldn't bring someone.

"Why don't you just say Ivy and those old folks next time?" Katniss found "the Forbes family, those old folks" a bit awkward.

After all, Tristan was also part of the Forbes family, and she and Tristan... were a couple.

Ryan almost bit his tongue and quickly corrected himself, "Ms. Grey, you're right. So, what do you think? Should we go?"

"Why not go?" Katniss took the invitation and strode into her office, "If they dare to invite me, I'll dare to go. What's there to be afraid of?"

Besides, it was Travis and his wife's event. If they tried anything, they'd be ruining their own party.

She might as well go and stir things up, make it more lively.

"Are you going with Mr. Forbes?" Ryan added.

Katniss sat down in her chair, leaned back, and thought for a moment, "We'll see."

To be honest, Tristan's hair hadn't grown back well yet, and his appearance wasn't great.

Attending such an event, it wouldn't be appropriate to wear a hat.

Suddenly, Ryan couldn't help but laugh. Although he quickly stopped, he still had to explain, "If Mr. Forbes goes with you, it might affect your image."

So, even Ryan disliked Tristan's current scruffy look.

The last few times he saw Tristan, it was at home, with Tristan in casual clothes, holding Evie's little toys.

Sometimes he even wore two little hair clips to amuse Evie.

Actually, the hair that had grown back barely covered the scar, but it still didn't match his usual hairstyle.

Anyway, Ryan had forgotten what Tristan looked like in a sharp suit.

"So, keep this under wraps for now. I'll think about it and decide later whether to bring him."

Katniss was concerned, and Tristan probably didn't want to see Travis either.

He would definitely prefer to stay home with Evie, so let him.

"Mr. White is here." Ryan, finishing this matter, patted his forehead, "Look at my memory, Mr. White asked you to go to his office when you got back."

"Got it." Katniss took her phone from her bag and headed straight to Benjamin's office.

In the spacious office, sunlight filled the room, but Benjamin stood in the only shadow, staring intently at the view outside.

When the knock on the door sounded, he responded and then turned to sit back in his chair.

"Mr. White, you wanted to see me?"

"Help me acquire a house, in your name or Mr. Bennett's," Benjamin said, taking out a cigarette and putting it in his mouth. Just as he was about to light it, he remembered Katniss had a child at home.

Seeing he didn't light the cigarette, Katniss stepped forward, "What kind of house? Any preferred location? What's it for? A wedding house? Should we consult Miss Adams?"

As soon as she finished speaking, she realized something was off.

A wedding house shouldn't be in her or Samuel's name.

Her eyes widened, and she quickly figured it out, "Is it for Hazel?"

"Yes," Benjamin replied, "Convenient for travel, close to the hospital, good environment, suitable for her recovery, and find two people to take care of her daily needs."

Katniss was silent, so Hazel had compromised and agreed to have Benjamin's child?

"Have you communicated with Miss Adams?"

Benjamin's fingers tapped lightly on the edge of the table, "She's having a hard time accepting it, but the Adams family agrees with my approach. As long as we publicly claim the child is Nora's, it's fine."

After all, Nora had health issues and couldn't have children. This way, Benjamin could have a child, a win-win.

But in this win-win, Hazel was the one sacrificed.

"Benjamin, you're too cruel." Katniss, for the first time, spoke to Benjamin from an emotional standpoint, "This will ruin Hazel's life."

Could she let go of the child she carried for ten months?

Could she let go of the past and start a new life?

If her future husband knew she had given birth...

All these possibilities made Katniss very worried.

"She said, the moment she met me, her life started a new chapter, but the moment she got into my bed, her life was destined to be incomplete. So whether she has this child or not, she's suffering with me. She might as well fulfill my wish."

Benjamin's tone was very low when he said this.

Katniss asked, "Do you love her?"
