Chapter 425 Eudora's Suicide

With that, Tristan was already lying on the inside of the bed.

With a long arm, he pulled Evie into his embrace.

Evie was startled and instinctively shouted as she darted towards Katniss.

Katniss rescued Evie. "You understand what she's saying, so how come you don't understand that she's telling you to get lost right now!"

After running into Katniss's arms, Evie turned her head and saw that it was Tristan holding her, and she couldn't help but smile at him.

Katniss simply ignored Evie and let her run off to play with Tristan. Not knowing when Tristan and Evie fell asleep, she dozed off shortly after lying down.

The wedding plans were put on the agenda, and Katniss called Rupert to inform him. After careful consideration, Rupert said, "To discuss the wedding details, we should sit down with someone from the Forbes family. Ms. Stuart is a woman after all. Should I come over to back you up?"

He and Katniss were siblings; if he only attended the wedding and didn't help out with anything else, that would be too distant."In a couple of days, I'll have dinner with Adelaide. I'll call you then," Katniss said, adding, "Who else but you, my dear brother, can back me up in this situation?"

Rupert's tone noticeably brightened. "Don't worry, I won't embarrass you. I'll buy a suit, and I won't let Jessica and Mom come."

"If they can come and have a quiet meal, it wouldn't be a bad thing, but you know their temperaments better than I do." Katniss felt a bit guilty, worried that she might strain Rupert's relationship with Jessica and Ember.

Fortunately, Rupert was very understanding. "Don't worry, I get it."

After chatting for a bit, Rupert hung up the phone and went back to the pasta restaurant to continue working, thinking not only about buying a suit.

He also needed to get a haircut and pay attention to his grooming; going to a fancy hotel looking unkempt would embarrass Katniss.

Suddenly, he realized a problem.

Although Katniss and Tristan already had a child, the wedding was just being planned, which meant Katniss was just getting married. As her brother, he had to give her something.

This restaurant wouldn't have opened without Katniss.

He had already made back his investment in the past few months and had tens of thousands of dollars on hand.

He had planned to use it to buy a house before Jessica had the baby, but if he didn't buy it, Jessica would definitely be unhappy.

But a house could be bought later; how could he miss Katniss's wedding?

Thinking this, he couldn't help but glance at Jessica, who was doing the accounts at the cash register, and made up his mind.

Katniss only planned to invite the Nicholas and Emory families to the wedding. Although the hotel was booked as the largest and the process was complete, there were very few people.

While preparing, Katniss and Tristan went up the mountain together to bring Adelaide back.

Driving on the smooth road, Katniss asked at a traffic light, "Are we just having the wedding? Should we get remarried?"

The response was endless silence.

In fact, having the wedding was equivalent to telling everyone they were married, but for some reason, Tristan just didn't want to remarry.

Once Katniss became his closest legal relative, in case something happened to him...

Katniss would be legally marked as a widow, which would be like a thorn in her heart.

In the future, she would have to sign his death certificate, and all matters related to his death would be handled by Katniss personally.

He was a bit annoyed with himself, unable to let go while still planning for her.

"Then we won't register the marriage," Katniss understood everything in the few seconds of silence as the light turned green.

She hated his presumptuousness in thinking he was doing it for her good, yet she didn't want to show her inability to let go in front of him.

Neither of them spoke again until they reached the mountain residence, where Katniss followed him along the gentle path inside.

After months of not seeing each other, Adelaide's hair had turned completely white.

Her eyes were dull and lifeless, and when she heard Royce say someone was coming, she showed no emotional reaction.

Until she saw Tristan and Katniss walking side by side, her eyes widened instantly, and she hurriedly tried to stand up with her cane.

Royce quickly supported her.

Katniss and Tristan also took a few quick steps to support her.

A few days ago, the news was abuzz with reports of a certain business legend having an accident.

Most people didn't know it was Tristan, but those who knew him had some idea.

Especially Adelaide, who hadn't seen any news about Tristan online.

Later, there were sporadic news reports about Katniss's rescue efforts at sea.

Adelaide had already guessed something in her heart, holding on with a glimmer of hope, not knowing if she was giving herself hope or waiting for something.

But her patience paid off, didn't it?

She tightly grasped Tristan's arm, her eyes filled with tears, unable to speak.

"Mrs. Adelaide Forbes, please sit down and speak slowly. Mrs. Tristan Forbes is back, isn't she?" Royce, afraid she couldn't hold on, helped her sit down.

Tristan's thin face showed a hint of complexity as he said in a deep voice, "Grandma, we're here to take you down the mountain. Katniss and I are getting married."

"Good," Adelaide nodded eagerly, "Once you two are married, I'll be at ease."

Katniss and Royce quickly packed a few belongings and then headed down the mountain.

They arrived at The Forbes Mansion just in time for lunch. Tristan had made arrangements in advance, and the household staff were still there, having prepared lunch.

The two of them sat on either side of Adelaide, chatting and laughing about the wedding. Adelaide quickly picked up on some clues.

She noticed Tristan's limited mobility, but she didn't show any sign of it on her face.

"Tomorrow, call your mother and the others to discuss some wedding details. I also have a very precious birthday gift for you," Adelaide patted Katniss's hand. "You'll definitely like it."

Katniss nodded slightly to Adelaide, "Thank you in advance."

The news of their upcoming wedding, which was being held low-key, was exposed by the media, even reaching Eudora in prison.

In the long, dark night, her face bruised and battered, she stared desperately at the bright moon outside the small window.

Getting married? How could this be?

She was suffering here, while Katniss was happily getting everything!

Her eyes gradually turned cold as she thought of something, her lips tightly pressed together.

After a long time, she suddenly sat up, grabbed a small mirror from the table, and smashed it to the ground, picking up a shard and slashing her wrist.

Warm liquid gushed out instantly, and someone immediately pressed the alarm button, throwing the entire prison into chaos.
