Chapter 412 A Lifetime Ruined
After those items were sent to the police station, the police verified the evidence was real and arrested Eudora in the middle of the night.
Katniss thought Eudora had escaped, but to her surprise, the police quickly brought her back to the station.
She had been waiting at the police station, and when Eudora arrived, they exchanged a glance. Eudora didn't resist as fiercely as she had imagined.
Instead, she mysteriously smiled at her, "It's just prison, right? It's just paying with my life, right? I'm not afraid! Anyway, the people who deserve to die are already down there with me, and those who don't deserve to die will accompany me in prison!"
Katniss didn't understand what she meant, and she unconsciously frowned, looking at her crazed state with deep eyes.
"Take her away," a police officer in charge of the arrest ordered, handing a phone to Katniss. "Miss Grey, this is Eudora's phone. We've cracked all the passwords."
"Thank you," Katniss said, taking the phone.
She flipped through it casually, finding almost no saved contacts, and most of the call records were from unknown numbers.
Including the text messages, there was one number with over a dozen messages exchanged, which she could infer was Sam.
Their contact was from over ten days ago.
She put the phone in her bag and walked out of the police station, immediately spotting Tristan getting out of a car by the roadside.
He walked over slowly, his gaze falling on her.
"Why are you here?" Katniss stood still, waiting for him to approach before speaking. "Did you hear Eudora was arrested and came to check on her?"
"No," Tristan replied, glancing back at the police station entrance. "Aaron is in trouble. Daniel called Nicholas."
Just as he finished speaking, Nicholas hurried over after parking his car. "Where's Aaron?"
Katniss suddenly remembered Eudora's words.
"What happened to Aaron?"
Nicholas scratched his head and said, "The motel owner reported that someone drugged a minor. The Youth Services Police went over and found Donna and Aaron lying on a bed. After notifying Daniel, he took Donna away, hoping the police would give him an explanation, and informed me that he would prioritize his daughter's interests."
Daniel would hold Aaron responsible.
Soon, the Youth Services Police arrived and explained the situation to Katniss and the others.
According to the motel owner, Donna was drugged and brought to the motel by Aaron and Eudora, but the motel's surveillance was broken and couldn't provide evidence.
They could only capture a segment of video on the road, barely showing two people carrying someone, but it was unclear who was who.
It was far away, and it was dark.
The motel owner thought they were just staying for the night after drinking too much, which would have been fine if all three had stayed.
But when Eudora left, he felt something was wrong and called the police.
When the police rushed in, they woke up Aaron and Donna, both of whom were unclothed, and Donna started crying immediately.
Aaron smelled of alcohol and was somewhat intoxicated.
He only sobered up after being taken back to the police station.
"According to Aaron, he vaguely remembers meeting Donna and his sister Eudora. Because he was drunk, Eudora and Donna took him to the motel. We heard Eudora was arrested here and came to collect evidence," the Youth Services Police explained.
"That's impossible!" Katniss instinctively denied.
"Miss Grey, please calm down. The matter is still under investigation. If what Aaron said is true, with Ms. Savoy's testimony and Donna's medical examination proving her innocence, Aaron's charges will be much lighter."
Although Aaron and Donna were close in age, the problem was that one was under eighteen and the other was not.
Just a few months' difference, and if Aaron were convicted, his life would be ruined, and he would face legal consequences!
Eudora, handcuffed, was brought out. She first saw the Youth Services Police and immediately guessed it was about Aaron.
Just as she was about to make a sarcastic remark, she suddenly saw the tall figure beside Katniss.
Her expression froze, staring at Tristan in disbelief. "You... you're not dead?"
Everyone looked at her, and Tristan's cold gaze made her heart sink.
"Eudora, what have you done!" Katniss quickly walked over and grabbed Eudora's hand. "Aaron is your brother!"
Then she paused. If she could harm her biological parents, what was a brother?
Eudora was pushed hard by her, falling against the wall, her gaze never leaving Tristan.
The pain in her back brought Eudora back to her senses. She shook her head and murmured, "How can you not be dead? If you're not dead, how can I die? How can I let you see me in such a miserable state? It's not fair, not fair!"
Katniss grabbed Eudora's collar and slapped her hard across the face.
"You deserve to die the most! Do you understand?" She was very close to Eudora, unable to suppress her anger, her eyes red. "Save Aaron, I have a way to get you out. You save him!"
Aaron had experienced so much and finally turned his life around, but a few years in prison would easily ruin all of his efforts. Eudora found her madness for Aaron both ridiculous and glaring.
"He's my brother. It's only right for him to accompany me. I'm not coming out. Since I've lost completely in this miserable state, I'll drag everyone who can go to hell with me!"
Katniss was overly emotional, and the police quickly stepped in to pull her away. After rescuing Eudora, the Youth Services Police came over to collect evidence for Aaron's case.
Eudora said without hesitation, "Aaron is a problem child. He dropped out of school in Nightfall City for a long time, hanging out with a bunch of delinquents. He begged me to help him bring that girl to the motel, so I did."
"You're lying!" Katniss was held tightly by Tristan, unable to break free.
Her values had been shattered by Eudora countless times, and at this moment, she lost all reason, wanting to tear Eudora apart.
Seeing this, Nicholas quickly said, "Her words can't be trusted. She has a bad relationship with her brother, Aaron. Aaron has always been with Katniss..."
"Mr. Kennedy, rest assured, we will gather evidence from multiple sources," the police interrupted Nicholas, sending Eudora to a temporary holding cell to await judgment.
Katniss had lost all reason. After being taken back to the car by Tristan, she leaned against the seat, motionless.
"Eudora informed Aaron's school. Given his special talents and the attention he received, the school has already announced his expulsion due to this incident. We need to not only reduce his charges but also completely clear his name and announce it to the world so he can hold his head high again."
