Chapter 395 Beautiful Fantasy
"Going to Pearlhaven? Why?" Sophia looked at Katniss with a puzzled expression, "Haven't you already found Tristan? Why didn't he come back with you?"
She instinctively glanced behind Katniss, only then realizing that Tristan hadn't returned with her.
Katniss held Evie in her arms, unsure if she was soothing her longing for her daughter or drawing strength from her.
She took a deep breath, holding Evie tighter.
Suppressing her emotions, she once again recounted the situation in Pearlhaven.
Sophia exclaimed, "Amnesia?"
"Falling from a great height into the sea, it's a miracle he's alive," a bitter expression flashed across Katniss's face.
Being alive was good.
But when she found out he was alive, saw that he didn't remember her, and even treated another woman better than her, the feeling of heartbreak was unbearable.
Sophia noticed the change in Katniss's emotions, "Yes, being alive is good. You and Evie will be together in Pearlhaven, but..."
She looked embarrassed, as if the next words were hard to say.
"Mom, what's wrong?"
"Matilda's situation is still a mess. I can't leave right now." Sophia looked at Evie in her arms, reluctant to part with the child she had raised.
But Odette was still in a coma, Matilda and George's issues were unresolved, and the meeting with Brian had been delayed due to Tristan's sudden accident.
"I understand, Mom. You stay here with Matilda, and contact me if anything comes up."
Katniss pursed her lips and added, "Don't delay Matilda's matters any longer. No one knows when Odette will wake up, and the longer it drags on, the more she'll suffer. Let her make her own decision as soon as possible."
At this time, Matilda needed to make her own decisions; others could only offer advice.
Seeing Sophia's worried expression, Katniss added, "Mom, she's an adult now. She has her own choices and path. You need to analyze the pros and cons for her, not make decisions for her."
Sophia nodded, "I understand. I also want to say the same to you. Your journey with Tristan has been full of ups and downs, and it pains me. There's a saying... although it's harsh, I still want to say that it's better to end the pain quickly. Wandering around with Evie is not a solution, and this path will be very difficult."
"Don't worry, I chose this path myself, and no matter how hard it is, I will stick to it." Katniss had not spoken of the pain and pressure she had been enduring for the past few months.
She had only one thought in her mind, finding Tristan would bring great joy.
If she couldn't find him, it would be her goal to live on and take good care of Evie.
After briefly explaining things to Sophia, she went to the White Corporation and the Zenith Group.
At Zenith Group, she had full authority. Although the company's executives were unhappy with her investing all the funds into a small village project, they had no choice but to comply.
But White Corporation was not so easy to handle. Although Benjamin and Samuel did not stop her, the pressure from the executives and shareholders was overwhelming.
As soon as she arrived at the company, Samuel came to see her.
After looking her over, Samuel's eyes showed a hint of sadness.
When the news of Tristan's accident first came, he thought it was his chance.
As long as she could move on from the pain of loss, they could be together.
But now... he still had hope back then, but seeing her now, he understood.
Whether Tristan was alive or dead, he had no chance.
Because as long as that person existed, he was insignificant.
With a sense of resignation, he smiled and said, "Finding him has certainly brought you energy. Building a resort there is it to commemorate his rescue?"
Katniss's eyes showed a moment of sadness, "There were some unexpected circumstances, he can't come back, so I have to go there."
Samuel didn't ask much more and shifted the topic to work.
"I can handle the executives and Benjamin, but it's hard to explain to the shareholders." He sat down and analyzed the situation.
"So, the shareholders want you to go to Pearlhaven?" Katniss keenly caught the key point, "If you don't approve of the project, all the funds will be withdrawn?"
Benjamin had approved the funds in advance due to their relationship, but if they couldn't handle the shareholders, it would mean Katniss had missed the opportunity, essentially losing to the shareholders.
That way, her relationship with Benjamin wouldn't be affected, maintaining the balance between the three of them.
Samuel smiled and said, "When it comes to work, I won't spare your dignity, so don't use emotions as an excuse."
Katniss couldn't help but smile, extending her hand, "Then see you in Pearlhaven. Wanting to stay there with Tristan is my desire, but I can guarantee it's a worthwhile investment."
"Alright, see you later." Samuel shook her hand, looked at her for a few seconds, then let go and left without saying anything more.
In just one day, after handling the affairs of various companies, Katniss took Evie and boarded a plane to Pearlhaven.
This time, her feelings were completely different from the last.
Back then, she was just testing the waters, unsure if she would see him.
But this time was different, knowing he was alive, the thought of the three of them being together was wonderful.
And this time, with Evie, he should be moved, right?
Maybe seeing Evie would bring back his memories!
The more she thought about it, the happier she became, smiling all the way. And Evie, on her first flight, was unusually well-behaved, not crying at all.
After getting off the plane, only Ryan was there to pick them up, which surprised Katniss.
She expected Nicholas and Emory to be there too.
"Why didn't they come?"
"They..." Ryan hesitated, then said, "You'll know when you get there."
Katniss didn't understand but didn't mind.
She held Evie and went to the house they had bought, kissing Evie's face, "Evie, this will be our home from now on."
Evie was very quiet, as if she knew someone very close was there, her big eyes looking around.
She added, "Now, Mommy will take you to see Daddy."
Ryan instinctively wanted to stop her, but Katniss hurried off with Evie in her arms.
Even if she couldn't awaken Tristan's memories alone, now she had Evie.
Tristan had always cherished her, taking care of Evie day and night; surely he had a special bond with her.
Together, maybe Tristan would remember everything!
With a smile on her lips, she quickened her pace, but suddenly saw some glaring wedding decorations at the corner.
She didn't understand why it was decorated like that, but her heart trembled inexplicably!
