Chapter 103: You Can't Hide
Chapter 103: You Can't Hide
Richard
The wolves I had mobilized were yet to spot Elena. I am training my warriors really seriously because I need every single one of them ready to fight. A war is coming and I will be the one to initiate it.
My plans had been simple from the beginning. I killed the Williams family so that there would be living bloodline members alive but now the plans have changed.
If my calculations were correct, Elena left the Pack when she was fourteen years of age and now she should be at least twenty-four years. She is no longer a little girl but a woman now, a woman who could be mated and bred. She carried the Alpha gene which means my heir would be strong, I had plans for this Pack that was bigger than just me. I wanted to begin a dynasty for my descendants to rule with the same iron fist as I had. I am a man that was feared all over the country.
"Mathew." I looked over my shoulder to one of my trusted captains.
"How many of our forces are mobilized at present?"
"All of them, Alpha.
"How many warriors were in the Crescent Wolf Pack?"
"From our last observation, they seem to have twelve for every ten of ours."
He had more warriors than me but that didn't matter, mine were skilled. But one of my warriors could take out five of his, I guess the numbers were balanced.
I am going to wage war on that Pack and retrieve what was rightfully mine. I will go about it in some diplomatic way at first but then if he refused, I would then opt to use brute force.
My phone buzzed in my pocket, I pulled it out. I looked at the screen and was surprised to see none other than Ronald calling. This man never called me unless he needed some form of assistance in his Pack.
"What do you want, Ronald?"
"Hello to you, Richard." I rolled my eyes.
"I am not for polite small talk, speak!"
"You are not one for politeness, Richard." He retorted.
"Are you alone? I need to speak with you about something urgent." I turned and faced my captain.
"Mathew, leave. I ordered him.
"I am alone now, speak."
"I heard that you are looking for a wolf, an average sized one, red hair and striking blue brighter colored eyes. I believe her name is Elena."
"How do you know about Elena, Ronald?"
"Interesting, I ran into Nicholas, Bernard's Beta and he seemed to have a plan. He wants to take over as Alpha and he told me was going to contact you about helping him achieve his goal. In return, he will give you Elena."
"So, she is within Bernard's territory?"
"Yes, she is. I have seen the girl with my own eyes. She is quite the beauty."
"She isn't being held captive?"
"Captive?" He laughed.
"She is not a prisoner, Richard. She is Bernard's mate, she is the new Luna."
His mate? This is a new development and a slight complication. I needed to stop them from completing the mate bond. It was impossible to remove the mate bond of another wolf, it was a difficult process that could kill Elena but I needed her alive.
With her as my mate, it would solidify my hold on this Pack. I already led with an iron fist but I needed to firmly cement my bloodline as the bloodline of this Pack. No one knew my secret, it was something I never shared with anyone and never would. By the time I mated with Elena, no one could challenge me because I would have every right to be leading the Pack.
"Have they mated?"
"How am I supposed to know that? That is none of my concern, Nicholas had promised that when he becomes the Alpha, he will marry Helen and make her his Luna as she rightfully deserves. I am only calling to inform you about it to see if you would agree to the plan."
"And what is stopping me from raiding Bernard's Pack right now and taking Elena?"
"Because, although you would win against Bernard, you know other Alphas would come together to put an end to your tyranny. You can't risk a hostile takeover, you need to be smart. You could lose the favor of other Alphas whining about your surroundings."
He was right, if I surged Bernard's Pack and took Elena by force, I would have a war on my hands that I wouldn't win. I needed to be smart and keep my hands as clean as possible. I needed time to think of this plan. I hated working with others, especially those wolves I did not know well. But I have to tolerate their incompetence, I need a way into that Pack.
"Fine, I will help you."
"Wonderful, so I was thinking that….."
I hung up the call before he could finish. I had gotten what I needed, I didn't need to chat with him anymore.
"Mathew!" He ran quickly and stood by my door waiting for my commands.
"How many men did we send to the Crescent Wolf Pack?"
"Fifteen wolves, Alpha. They were only surveillance."
"Send twenty more, I want hourly updates now. I want to know everything about what they see at the border. I need to know who comes in and out, I want to know the change over the patrol and they must keep out of sight and not raise suspicion." He nodded and was about to turn to leave.
"Mathew, the plan had changed. I need the girl alive, no harm shall come to her if they see her. Capture her and bring her to me, am I understood?"
I could see the question in his eyes but he didn't speak. For ten years I had ordered them to kill her on sight and bring her body to me as evidence.
"She is to be your new Luna, Mathew." His eyes widened in shock.
"She should not be harmed, any scratch on her, I will kill the wolf that was responsible." He nodded and left.
Things had just gotten hotter, many thought that I would have stepped down when I learned that my bloodline was not carrying the true Alpha gene. They said I needed to give the title to Williams, Elena's father but he didn't deserve it.
Nicholas was an incompetent wolf at best but I respected him, he had earned the Alpha title. It wasn't just some birthright he was simply handed because he carried some gene that made him worthy of being a leader. He had clawed and worked his way up to where he is today, I respect him for that.
My bloodline may not carry the Alpha gene but we had earned our right to rule. The Williams family had lost their title, he was not a match for me. Now with his daughter being of age, I will mate her and no one would ever be able to challenge my title again. I would mate the true heir and what was hers would become mine after she took my mark. If she refused, I would force it on her and if that happens, it will kill Bernard but that was none of my concern.
With Bernard being the only living heir of Joseph and Elizabeth, his bloodline would end with him and Nicholas would be free to rule with no one to contest his right as the new leader.
Everything would come together and my original plan would soon be set into motion, it is just a matter of time now.
"Elena, you can run but you can't hide. I am coming for you."
