Chapter 147: Hangover

Chapter 147: Hangover

Bernard

"Call Jasper." I commanded my phone as I pulled out of my driveway, Jasper's number started ringing and he picked up after the third ring.

"Are you okay? It is almost midnight." He sounded like he was half asleep.

"Yes, I am fine. It is Elena that I am worried about."

"What's wrong with her?" He sounded more awake now.

"She is drunk and I am guessing the rest of the girls are drunk too. I need you to come to the Motcho's, I think the others will need rides home. Bring Jack as well, he will be able to take care of Alisha."

"Got it, Alpha."

I hung up the call and focused on the road. I wanted her to get all those normal human experiences that she missed out but this was something I wished she had skipped. She was barely able to finish the champagne we had after her presentation to the Pack, who knew what she had consumed and in what quantity. I broke almost every highway code there was in existence to get to the place in under fifteen minutes. I came out of the car and I could hear the thumping music coming from the outside, there were drunk people littered on the sidewalk. It was like a bloody frat house.

My urge to find my mate intensified, there were no wolves here today because I wanted her to have privacy so I ordered everyone to stay away tonight. Now I wished I hadn't, I walked into the club and the music intensified more, I could feel the beat against my chest.

'Elena, where are you.' I mind-linked her but no response. Her walls were down but I could not see into her mind. My heart rate picked up, that was not a good sign.

I pushed past drunken people searching every inch of the club for her. I walked to the bar and thankfully I found Doris, she was leaning over the counter and yelling profanities at the bartender. I grabbed her shoulder and she whipped her head around looking like she wanted to bite my hand off but then she stilled when her eyes met mine. She got down from where she was sitting and straightened herself out.

"Alpha," she angled her head.

"What are you doing here?" Even with my heightened hearing, I could barely hear her.

'Where is Elena?' I asked through the mind link and her eyes widened.

'Elena?'

'Yes, Elena. Where is my mate and your Luna? Where is my bride, Doris?'

She looked around the club for a moment, she didn't know.

'Where are the rest of the girls?' she shook her head.

'l don't know, Alpha. Ivory and Alisha were on the dance floor and the last time I saw Elena, she was heading to the bathroom. She seems fine in there, I am so so…..'

She didn't get to finish because I was already off to the bathroom and immediately, I saw Jasper and Jack walking into the club.

"Bernard." Jasper stopped in front of me.

"Have you found her?" I shook my head.

"Go find Ivory and Alisha, I will look for my mate. Once you find them, don't wait for me, take them back home, and you two turn to bed."

They both nodded and left to go and do what I had assigned to them. I pushed past the drunken people queuing outside the bathroom, I was about to reach for the door when a hand grabbed my shoulder.

"Sorry, but you can't go in there buddy. This is the women's bathroom, the men's is on the other side." I turned to face the bouncer.

"I need to find my ma…my fiancée. She isn't responding to me and I need to make sure that she is okay."

"Sorry, I can't let you do that. Ask one of the ladies to go in and look for her."

I looked at the drunken girls who could barely stand on their feet, that was not happening. I removed the bouncer's hand from my shoulder and started him down.

"Look, I am not some kind of pervert that wants to creep on women. I have a woman already and she is probably out there passed out, just give me five minutes."

I turned around but then the bouncer grabbed my shoulder again, I was beginning to grow tired of this little game.

"I am going to ask you to leave."

I shrugged his hand off and pushed forward but then he moved around me until he was blocking my way.

"Move," l growled, my wolf felt dangerously close to the surface.

"No," he attended to make himself seem bigger but I was still a head taller than him.

He had more muscle mass on him, I would have given him that but he was much weaker than me. I am an Alpha, I could take on a hundred of him and barely break a sweat.

"I said move!" My wolf wanted to teach him a lesson but if I allowed him to break free, then I would have blood on my hands. He would not be able to take what my wolf wanted to dish out.

"Make me move."

"Fine."

I grabbed the side of his neck and hit the exact point I wanted to hit. The bouncer hissed in agony before he fell to the ground unconscious.

"You killed him!" One of the drunk girls screamed.

"No, I didn't, he was knocked out. Now stay out here while I look for the person I came for." I barge into the bathroom.

"Elena?"

I looked under all the stall doors until I saw her legs on the floor, I opened the last stall and saw her. Her legs were leaning against the wall of the stall, her eyes were closed, her lipstick and make-up were smudged, and she looked like she had been crying, a surge of anger moved through me at the thought of some fool upsetting her.

"Elena?" I kneeled down before her, cupped her face willing her to open her eyes. I could smell the liquor all over her.

"Elena, my love, wake up please." She groaned slightly, good she was still conscious.

"My love, I need to open your eyes for me okay?" I brought her face closer to me.

"Open your eyes and let me see those beautiful sapphire eyes, please." She groaned again.

Her eyes slowly began to flutter, I waited until her eyes fully opened and her gaze found mine. She looked a little confused at first but at least she is conscious now.

"Bernard?" I nodded.

"I think you passed out in the bathroom, let's go home now."

"My head hurts."

"I know, that's what happens when you drink the whole bar."

I moved away from her and hooked my arm under her knees, I lifted her up and started walking out of the bathroom. She leaned her head against my shoulder and dozed off. When we came out, the bouncer was still unconscious and the girls were looking at me with wide eyes. I knew they were too drunk to even remember anything.

'I found her.' l communicated to Jasper.

'We have also found the girls, we will take them back home.'

'Okay.' I closed the mind link.

I walked out of the club with my mate in my arms sleeping soundly. She was drunk and was probably going to throw up at some point tonight but at least she is in my arms now. I buckled her into the car and got in myself. I kept on staring at her, her looking like she had been rolling around on the floor, but she still took my breath away. I leaned over and kissed her forehead, she stirred slightly but didn't wake up, so we drove off.

"By the time I had put her in the bed, it was already three in the morning.

I had spent the whole day training with some of the new recruits and my muscles had been aching but then when I tried to sleep while she was out, I couldn't because I was too anxious. Now that she is here, the sleep is catching up to me again and I am not fighting it. I needed to sleep. I got to the bed and pulled her into my arms, she stirred a little but didn't wake up. She leaned into my touch and then settled against me. I kissed her hair and breathed in her scent, she still smelt like alcohol but her scent was there too.

"You are going to have one hell of a hangover tomorrow morning." I whispered, smiling already knowing what she was going to say. My eyes fluttered and darkness took over me

The next morning, I opened my eyes to the sound of my mate heaving in the bathroom.

"Elena?" I got out of bed and headed straight to the bathroom and found her hunched over the toilet bowl. Her hair created a barrier so I couldn't see her face, she waved her hand telling me to go away before she began heaving again.

I moved towards her and crouched down beside her, I collected her hair into my hands and held it back for her.

"No," she choked out.

"I don't want you to see me like this."

"In sickness and in health, remember. Those were my vows to you."

"We are not yet married, Bernard." She heaved again but nothing came out like the last time.

"Those were my vows the day I laid eyes on you." I started rubbing her back hoping to soothe her.

"Did you throw up a little in the club?" Unable to speak, she nodded. I kneel down in front of her and place my hand on her knees.

"Are you okay?" She shook her head.

"I am so sorry, Bernard. I was a total mess yesterday." I brought her hands to my lips and kissed them.

"It is safe to say you are a lightweight." She rolled her eyes.

"I think I am more than that, I don't know how people can sometimes do this every day, I went out once and I already want to hang up my coat, I am never doing this again."

"I am okay with that." I smiled.

"But if you do want to go out or drink again, just make sure I am with you, your friends were a little unreliable yesterday." Her eyes widened.

"The girls!"

"Don't worry, Jasper and Jack took care of them and made sure they got home safely. How about we get some food to eat?"

"I don't even think about food right now."

"True me." I stood up and pulled her to her feet.

"It will help you."

"Carry me." She lifted her arms and gave me her best puppy dog pout.

"Elena, you know I love you but you need to wash your mouth, I can't kiss you like this." She blushed and let out a loud laugh.

The truth is that I would have kissed her even if she smelled like sewage but I knew that she would be more comfortable if she did wash her mouth. It is strange to think but these were the moments with her that I cherished the most and I would love to experience with her more.
