Chapter 157: Closed Off
Chapter 157: Closed Off
Elena
I heard the bedroom door open and a minute later I felt the bed dip beside me. My husband leaned over and peppered me with kisses over my neck.
"Good morning, sunshine." He murmured against my neck.
I looked over my shoulder at him, his forest green eyes were twinkling with so much light, that I felt my chest swell. I was responsible for some of that shine and I am so proud of myself for being able to make him feel happy.
"You didn't wake me up to have a run with you, why?" He kissed my neck and hopped off the bed.
"You seemed to be sleeping peacefully, my love. I didn't want to wake you."
I sat up in the bed and watched him move around the room. He walked into the closet and emerged a few seconds later with just a towel wrapped around his waist. I can't ever get tired of seeing his body.
He caught me shamelessly staring at his body, he smirked and gave me a wink. He headed to the bathroom and I watched him like he was the most interesting thing I had ever seen. He stopped and looked over his shoulder when he was at the door.
"You want to join me?"
I didn't need to be asked twice, I hopped out of the bed and made my way to the bathroom.
As expected, our shower took a little longer than planned but I felt refreshed and ready to tackle my day. There was a lot that I needed to get done today, especially after my talk with Bernard yesterday. We had to meet with the elders to discuss the new change in the system.
We walked downstairs and I could smell breakfast already being made. Ever since I had taken up the role of Luna fully, Bernard brought back the servants into the house. I needed the help seeing I can't manage the household alone and be a Luna to the Pack. But in time, I would learn how to balance the two, for now, I am happy to tackle one thing at a time.
We got downstairs, and we found Jasper and Alisha already at the island with a coffee mug in their hands and they stood up when they saw the both of us.
"Alpha, Luna." They greeted us.
"Morning," I smiled at each of them.
"You two can join us at the dinner table, that's where we will be having breakfast."
I grabbed Bernard's hand and pulled him towards the dining room. We settled into our seats and got our food served.
"Alisha, what is my day looking like?"
"We have to go and see some of the integrators who are currently going through rehab and then we have a meeting with the Elders which Alpha will also be joining. After that, we trade weapons with Doris and then we have a medical with Liam." I nodded.
"What about the girl that was bullied? Has she been placed into the training program?" Alisha looked to Bernard who nodded his head at her.
"She can join, she is as much a part of this Pack as you are, my love. So she should get the same opportunities any normal pack member would receive."
I placed my hand on his and squeezed it. I knew him changing his initial plans was not an easy thing for him to do. I really appreciate him meeting me halfway. I finished up my breakfast and stood up from my seat. I placed a soft kiss on my husband's lips and then turned to his Beta.
"Jasper, do you mind if I have a word with you?" He stood up.
"Not at all, Luna." I smiled.
"Great."
'No meddling, Elena.' his voice echoed in my head.
'l am only nudging, my love.'
"I will meet you in front, Alisha. Jasper, we can talk on the porch, follow me."
I led Jasper out the kitchen back door, I made sure to close the glass door as we settled onto the lounge chairs.
"Is everything alright?"
"For me, everything is fine but for you on the other hand you are moving like a snail." He looked confused.
"Excuse me?"
"I know you like Doris, it is clear as day. Anyone with eyes could see that you are taken by her."
"Did your husband tell you?" He looked slightly annoyed, I shook my head.
"I had figured it out long before he confirmed my suspicions but that's by the way. What I want to talk to you about is why you haven't asked this girl out. What are you waiting for?" He sighed, running a frustrated hand through his hair.
"I would love to go on a date with Doris but right now, she is very closed off. It is like she doesn't want me to get too close to her, maybe she doesn't like me." I shook my head.
"No, that's not it all, Jaspe. I can assure you of that. She just ain't used to any of this, Doris is a woman of calculation and precision, and liking you is so out of her comfort zone. She doesn't know how to behave around you." His ears perked up.
"She said she likes me?" I laughed a little nervously.
"That's what it sounded like."
"But how can I date someone so closed off? How will I even get her to say yes to a date with me?" I moved to the edge of my seat.
"You can leave that to me, I will send you a location and time. All you need to do is show up."
"You want to set us up on a blind date?"
"Technically, it wouldn't be a blind date because you would know that she is coming but she wouldn't know that you are her date. This way, when she gets there, she doesn't get a chance to back out of it." He looked a little uneasy.
"I don't know about this, Elena. I really like her but I don't want to force her into a situation where she feels boxed in."
"Trust me, Doris only needs a slight nudge in the light direction and I am that nudge. You just leave the rest to me, I will be like your fairy godmother."
"More like a nosy godmother." My husband's voice came from the dorm, he was looking at me with mock disappointment.
"What do you think, Bernard? Should I allow your wife to set this up for me?" Bernard shrugged and came to where I sat.
"One thing I have learned about my wife is that she always has people's best interests at heart. Sometimes, her plans are a bit much ...."
"Hey?" I protested.
"But somehow, things always end up working out how they are meant to. In my honest opinion, you have nothing to lose because if you sit on your ass, you will never go on a date with the girl. This way, at least you tried to take a leap." Jasper nodded slowly, his eyes snapped at me and I could already see my answer. I stood to my feet, clapping my hands.
"Great, so we move on to phase two of the plan. I will text you the details of the date and then you can prepare yourself." He nodded and stood up from his seat.
I bid goodbye to my husband and then headed to where my car was parked. Alisha was already settled in waiting for me.
"Ali, I need you to make a few calls, we gave a date to plan."
After my first few meetings, it was now time for training with Doris which also meant that it was now time for phase two of my plan. Today, we were on the training ground that we used the first time I began my training with her. When I walked to the warehouse that housed the weapons, I found Doris in the ring practicing her sword work. She paused when she saw Alisha and I entered the building.
"Hey, Doris." I said, a little too cheery even to my own ears.
"Hey, Elena." She said skeptically.
"Is everything alright?"
"Couldn't be better." I really needed to work on acting more naturally when I was trying to be sly.
"Anyway, I wanted to know if you were free tomorrow night?"
"I am free, why?"
"I was thinking of having a girl's night. The last time we all hung out was my bridal shower which was weeks ago. I miss you guys, we can make it like a girl's night out. We can get cute by wearing some sexy outfits."
"I don't know if you have noticed but there isn't much to do in River Road." I waved her off.
"You leave that to me, you just show up where I tell you. I will handle the rest." She thought it over for a moment before she finally relented.
"Okay, just text me the details and j will be there."
"Great!" I beamed.
Phase two was now officially complete, now it is time to move on to phase three of the plan. When I noticed she was looking at me weirdly, I dropped my smile and refocused. I was acting like a lunatic, I needed to keep calm and play it cool. Doris is extra observant and I didn't want her to find me out before I even had a chance to finalize the venue for the date.
"Shall we begin?" I moved the conversation to the reason I had come to the training ground. She immediately kicked into teacher mode.
"Grab the sword on the wall, today, I will teach you how to wield a sword."
I did my best to focus on the lesson but my mind was too busy coming up with date ideas. While Doris schooled me and made muscles I didn't even know I had ache, I was doing my happy dance in my head.
