Chapter 168: You Changed My Life

Chapter 168: You Changed My Life

Elena

I watched Doris run into the house faster than lightning, Jasper stood in the middle of the dance floor in shock. His eyes moved around the surroundings and sure enough, everyone was staring at him just as I had.

His eyes met with mine and I could see the pain swimming behind them. He ran a frustrated hand through his hair, walked to the bar, and sat down on one of the high chairs. Bernard pulled away from me, ready to go to his Beta but I stopped him.

"I know you said that I shouldn't meddle but let me talk to him, okay?"

He didn't look sure but he allowed me to detach myself and make my way towards Jasper. As I approached him, his eyes connected with my face and I could already read the expression in his eyes loud and clear. 'l don't want to talk about it.' Well, through luck, we were going to talk about it whether he liked it or not.

This is the last time I am going to speak on this issue and then after that, I was done. I would move on and I would allow them to stumble their way back together. That kiss they had shared was proof that the question wasn't if they were going to get together but when they would get together. I sat down on their chair opposite his.

"So, how are you doing?" He gave me an incredulous look.

"I am filled with sunshine and roses today, Elena, and how are you?" I rolled my eyes.

"You know what I mean, Jasper. I didn't come here to upset you further, I only came to say one thing and then after I say it, I will leave you alone." He gestured with his hand for me to continue.

"She likes you, Jasper. You know and I know it as well and everyone at this reception knows it. It was clear as day from the way you guys were looking at each other. She has just been through a lot, she just needs time to sit with her feelings and sift through them. She cares deeply about you the same way you care deeply about her. Don't give up on her just yet, okay?"

He was quiet for a few seconds before he nodded his head once and that was enough for me. I stood from my seat and made my way back to my husband. I didn't need to hear a verbal response from him, I just simply needed to say what I needed to say.

Bernard was talking to some of the guests but when he saw me approaching, he excused himself and made his way over to me. He kissed my lips softly and ushered me to the bench that was situated in the back of our yard. We were alone. He sat down and placed me on his lap, one hand rested on my legs and the other moved up and down my back gently in soothing motions.

"How did the talk go?"

I looked into his eyes, against the light from the sun that was setting, his eyes changed from their usual forest green to emerald green. They were like jewels.

"Your eyes were different today." He nodded.

"They changed with the seasons sometimes. They take on a more emerald as we draw closer to winter."

"I like them." He smiled.

"I hope our children have your eyes, they are just like jewels."

It was not the first we had spoken of children but every time he spoke of our future, my future, my heart would always melt. I wanted that for us, I wanted the family and happily ever after. I wanted something physical that would be a representation of our undying love for one another.

"I hope so," I leaned in so my lips were right by his ear.

"They will have bravery and courage, I hope they have your heart and your kind soul. But above all, I hope they have the same love you carry in your heart for others."

"I hoped they were all the good parts of both of us, my love. You will make the most amazing mother."

That had to be the greatest compliment he had ever given me. I remember as a little girl, all I had ever wanted in the world was to be important to someone, I dreamed of it. Well, the right word would have been yearning for it. A mother would always be important to a child regardless of their age which was why I had always wanted to be a mother.

Like any young girl, I had already picked out names for my future children but now since I met Bernard, I wanted to change the names I had originally picked.

"How many children do you want?"

My hand found its way into his luscious lock, I massaged his scalp gently which caused him to close his eyes. He hummed his appreciation and I continued my actions.

"How many would I want?" He asked with his eyes still closed.

"Hmmm,"

"As many as many as you are willing to give me, Elena. It is your body that has to carry the pups at the end of the day. If you want to just carry one, then it is fine. If you want to carry ten, I am on board with it. We may need to build a bigger house but we will make it work."

His words warmed my heart, this man was everything I had ever dreamed of, he was literally made for me.

"I think ten is pushing it but I wouldn't mind three or four."

He opened his eyes and nuzzled his nose into the crook of my neck before pulling back.

"Then that works fine with me, we can have four mini-you's."

"Or mini-you's. If I could choose, I would love two boys and two girls but I want a boy first so that he can be his little sister's protector." He wrapped his hand around my waist.

"What would we call them?"

"I used to love the name, Alice for a girl and Damian for a boy. But now I think I want to change them. What do you think?"

"I love the name Damian, so we can keep but what do you think of the name Aurora?" I thought it over for a moment.

"Aurora?" I said the same slowly, testing it on my lips.

"I love it, Damian and Aurora Bernard."

The smile that found its way to his face had me giddy and warm on the inside.

"You changed my life, you know that, Bernard?" I stared into his eyes.

"If you would have told me a year ago that I would be sitting with my mate on a bench outside our beautiful home, talking about our future children. I would have laughed in your face.

"You turned my life on its axis in the best way possible, you are every good thing in my life and l love you like crazy. You have given me hope and a future, you don't know how close I had been to throwing in the towel. But for some reason, I kept going and now I know it was because I had to find my way to you. I love you, Bernard George Joseph." I leaned my forehead against him, closing my eyes.

"I love you, Elena Rosalie Joseph, you are my forever and there is nothing that will ever come between us. I will love you endlessly in this life and the next."

I connected our lips and sealed our words with a kiss. Kissing him never got old, kissing him was like kissing him for the first time. I still got the butterflies and the same warm fuzzy feeling I was always filled with.

My hand found its way into his hair, my fingers threading through his silky lock and I pulled him even closer to where I was, he moaned into my mouth, and his arms tightened around me, pulling me in even closer than before. I felt like I was floating.

Being with Bernard made every hard day seem bearable, I am ready to start a new journey with him, and I am excited that we are trying for children. We pulled away from one another completely breathless. Our hot breath mingled together as we came down from the high that our kiss had given us.

"I am so happy that I got to do life with you, Elena." I responded by capturing his lips into another tantalizing kiss.

I loved doing life with him as well, every moment felt sweeter when it was shared with him. The world was brighter and seemed less daunting to tackle. This was the feeling that I wanted Jasper and Doris to experience. I wanted them to experience that same weightless and carefree feeling that I felt, I wanted them to know what it felt like to fall freely and without caution.

I had faith that they would find their way to each other eventually. I just had to let them figure it out first.
