Chapter 150: The Vows

Chapter 150: The Vows

Elena

I handed my bouquet to Alisha and joined hands with my mate. We stared into each other's eyes, completely absorbed in one another.

"You look beautiful," he mouthed and I blushed.

"You too."

He was really looking so hot, Bernard had gelled his hair back and his face was clean shaven. He was in a form fitting black tuxedo but instead of a tie, he wore a bow. He wore a pocket handkerchief that had a hint of blue on his outfit.

"We are gathered here today to witness the unity of our Alpha, Bernard George Joseph, and his mate, Elena Rosalie Williams." The Priest addressed the congregation.

"The Alpha and Luna have both prepared their own vows. Alpha, you may begin."

Bernard stared into my eyes, he let down every wall there was to him for the first time. I saw him completely bare and without his guard up.

"It is no secret that our story did not have a smooth beginning, we had many obstacles that we faced and a lot of challenges that we had to overcome. For a while, I fought our bond, I fought between duty and heart. In doing so, it almost cost me the one thing that I held close to my heart."

The tears had already started welling up, I knew today would be an emotional day but I never thought that I would be this emotional.

"I promise to you, my love, that there will never be a moment in time when you will have to second guess your position in my life. You will always be my number one priority about it all, you are the very air that I breathe. You are the light in my world and the very essence of my soul, you are my heart, Elena. I vow to you on the days you don't want me close, I vow to love you through the trials and tribulations our love will go through. I vow to love you on the days that I may find it hard to like you, I vow to continuously choose you at every corner and every turn. My heart has always been yours to hold, to break, and to keep. You have all parts of me so, as we stand in front of our people, I say this promise to you. Elena Rosalie Williams, I promise to love all of you wholly and fully from now until my dying breath."

I could hear a few sniffs from the crowd, the loudest coming from Elizabeth who was watching her son with so much pride. Then, the Priest turned to me.

"Luna, you may say your vows now."

"I don't know if I can top that," I joked, causing a low chuckle to rumble out of the crowd.

I let out a shaky breath and looked at my mate, like Bernard I had memorized my vows and I prayed that I didn't forget anything.

"For ten years, I had roamed this earth thinking that I would ever have anyone to love or have anywhere to call home ever again. You, Bernard George, have given me both. You became a light to my darkness, you made everything make sense once again. You healed every broken part of my heart and healed every scar I had ever felt. I know if my parents were here today, they would love you just as much as I did. I know the road we walk on will not be easy but we will weather any storm together as long as we continuously choose each other. I promise to be your pillar when you feel weak and weary, I promise to be at peace among all the chaos, and I promise to hold your hand through every bad and good moment in our lives. I promise to… I promise to only ever love you in this lifetime and the next."

Bernard wiped away a stray tear that had fallen on my face, he cupped my face and I leaned into his touch before continuing with my vows.

"I love you more every day, Bernard. I love you more than the bad days we will go through, I love you more than the little argument we will ever have. I love you more than the storms we will ride through, I will love you more than anything else on this earth. I know that no matter what life we were in, we would have met and our souls would have found each other. I love you with all that I am."

Bernard's eyes glazed over as the tears welled in his eyes. I turned to the crowd, there was in fact not a dry eye in the house.

"I love you," he smiled at me through teary eyes. The Priest clapped his hands.

"What beautiful professions of love for one another. A love like this, especially that of the fated mates is blessed with the three cord thread. Never forget where you draw your strength from, lean into one another at all times, and communicate often. This will be the key to a happy marriage and a happy Pack." The Priest muttered.

"Now, as we move on with the ceremony. Before I begin the bondage ceremony, is there anyone who believes that the Alpha and Luna should not be wed? Speak now or forever hold your peace."

The hall fell silent as everyone waited, I knew it was not possible seeing as she was banished from the lands but I feared Helen would pop out any moment and try to ruin my special day.

"Seeing as there are no objections, we shall begin with the bondage ceremony."

The Priest took the long white cloth and wrapped Bernard and I conjoined hands under it.

"With this cloth, we symbolize the unity between two souls who will become one. May this union never be broken and never be torn apart, may the almighty moon goddess bless your union, and may no man tear it apart."

Bernard and I smiled at each other, there was nothing that could bring us down at that moment. We were floating on cloud nine.

The Priest removed the cloth from our joined hands and then signaled for the ring to be brought to him. The ring bearer gave it to him and he held both the rings in his palm and raised it in the air.

"Let these rings be a symbol of your unity and your love for one another. May it be never-ending." He handed the rings to us respectively.

"Alpha, repeat after me. With this ring, I give unto you my mate and one true love, may we be bonded in this life and the next, and may our love continue to be filled with goodness." He slid the ring onto my finger as he repeated what the Priest had just and but his eyes were glued onto me the entire time.

"Now, Luna repeats after me. With this ring, I give unto you my mate and one true love. May we be bonded in this life and the next and may our love continue to be filled with goodness." I slid the ring onto Bernard's finger.

"Please rise." The Priest ordered the congregation.

"May I introduce to you all Alpha Bernard George Joseph and his wife Luna Elena Rosalie Joseph. May they live long!"

"Long Live!" Everyone erupted into cheers.

"Alpha, you may kiss your bride."

He didn't need to be told twice, he cupped my face and brought our lips mere inches from each other.

"Finally," he whispered against my lips and then he hit me with one hot blistering kiss that had me floating.

When we pulled apart, the people roared and chanted our names but I didn't even notice them, all I could see and feel was my husband. I leaned my forehead against his.

"You are my husband now."

"And you are my wife now." He pecked my lips softly and then leaned down to whisper.

"Now, we have only one thing to do."

I pulled back, looking at him confused, I thought all the ceremonies and traditions had been fulfilled.

"We have to consummate our marriage." He winked.

Even with my makeup, I was sure that everyone could see how red I had just gotten. It hadn't been in my thoughts until now that he remained that tonight would be the night our mate bond would be solidified and we truly become one.

We turned to face our people and walked down the stairs. We made our way down the aisle to the exit of the hall. The process leading up to the altar had not been easy but now, looking back on it. I wouldn't trade it for anything, everything happened in the way I wanted it to be and I am so happy.

We exited the hall to be greeted by the sunset beyond the horizon. The sky was beautiful. I turned to my mate and smiled at him. He looked at me with a similar goofy smile plastered on his face.

"Hi wife," my smile grew even larger.

"Hi, husband."

I definitely liked the sound of that, I am going to use that word until I am tired of it.
