Chapter 66: True Feelings

Chapter sixty-six: True Feelings

Elena

I have been in my room waiting anxiously for Bernard to call me, it has been almost seven hours now and the sun is going down. What was he doing? Was he okay? Did he need my help? Was he speaking to Helen now? All these questions circled inside my mind, I need to see him again. I need to be close to him again. We are yet to complete our mate bond, so we are still unable to share a mind link.

I had promised him that I would stay away, only for the meantime and I would return when he called for me. But yet he still hasn't called, I don't want to risk leaving my room and then something happened. I needed to give him time but I also needed to be with him. Ever since we had accepted each other, my wolf had been stir crazy. She was so close to the surface and I was having trouble holding her back. She wanted to be with her mate and she wanted to be with him now.

I stood by the window and looked at the hospital that was within my view. To think that was where everything had begun. A month ago, I laid my eyes on my mate for the very first time and little did I know how turbulent our journey would be but here we were now. Finally I have him now, we are together and no one is going to tear us apart. I knew that as long as I had him by my side, I could face whatever came our way. We would lean on each other for strength and rest. A knock sounded on my door.

"Yes?" I said and a woman I didn't recognize walked into my room. She was wearing a maid's outfit and looked like she was just about my age. She bowed her head in greeting and spoke without looking up at me.

"The Alpha requests your presence at his house." I nearly jumped on my feet out of excitement.

Finally, I wanted nothing more than to dash out of this room and sprint to him but I knew I had to remain calm and collected. I am still nothing more than a guest to the Alpha and I was seen to be overly happy to be summoned to his house, then people would catch on and that was not what I wanted.

"Thank you." I said in a cool tone.

"I will be there in a minute." She nodded and exited my room a few seconds later.

I rushed to the mirror to make sure that I looked decent. I knew he didn't care about how I looked but I still wanted to make a good impression. I wanted to look my best for him because he deserved the best version of me and nothing less. Once I was happy with my appearance, I exited my room and headed straight to his house.

I tried to keep myself from looking too happy but I couldn't help it. So much has happened within the past week. Bernard and I had gone from nearly calling everything quits to finding a way into each other's arms. I owed Liam so much, he had brought the love of my life back to me and I couldn't thank him enough for that.

I passed some gammas on my way out and they all smiled at me warmly in greeting. That was one thing I loved about living in the gamma's house. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming, I never felt out of place or unwanted. Moving into this place was like a blessing in disguise. I had met so many wonderful people here and had learned about the Pack from the perspective of those who were low-ranking. It gave me a different outlook and how I could help when I became Luna.

Luna? I still can't believe that I am going to be Luna of the Crescent Wolf Pack. Not once in my life has I ever dreamed of being Luna or mating with an Alpha. Yes, I hoped that I would have a good mate one day but I never actually thought that it would be an Alpha. I felt a level of responsibility to be someone these people deserved and I prayed that I could do justice to the role.

I reached his house and knocked on the door, waiting for a response. After ten seconds, the door swung open revealing a damp-haired Bernard. His forest green eyes looked into my sapphire ones and the world seemed to fade all around us. It felt like we were the only two people who existed at the moment.

"Hi?" I breathed.

He looked around and when he saw that no one was around, he grabbed me by the hand and pulled me into the house. He shut the door behind me and enveloped me in a tight hug. He smelled like aftershave and soap, he smelled so clean and masculine. I couldn't help but inhale his gorgeous scent. His chest vibrated as he nuzzled his nose into my hair.

"Did you just sniff me?" He asked as he chuckled. Without shame, I nodded and tightened my arms around his waist. He pulled away from the hug and cupped my face gently.

"Hi, sweetheart." He smiled down at me.

"I miss you." He added.

"I miss you too." I responded and I couldn't help but stare at his lips for a little bit. I wanted nothing more than to go onto my toes and connect my lips to his. I wanted to feel the taste of his lips on mine once more.

"I am sorry I took so long, I was trying to deal with Helen and her family. They aren't exactly the easiest people to have a civil conversation with." He said.

"What happened?" I asked, filled with concern. Helen had already proven that she could be quite a volatile person. I didn't trust her not to have made a scene.

"Come." He pulled away and threaded my fingers with his.

"We can talk in my room." He led me upstairs to his room. I was following him but all I could think about was how blessed I am to have found this man. Having his hand on mine and looking at me the way he did, caused a large wave of peace to wash over me. I hadn't been at peace for a long time and I had finally found it. We walked inside his room and he shut the door behind us. We walked straight to the bed and sat side by side with our hands still locked. He took a deep breath before speaking.

"I asked Helen to move out of my house and go and stay with my parents. As you can imagine, the conversation didn't go very well. She was having a difficult time and started throwing tantrums." He said.

"How did you get her to finally agree?" I asked.

"I didn't, it was her father who finally made her see sense to it. He wasn't completely thrilled about the idea of being kicked out but I made him understand." I nodded.

"That is good, at least now you have your house back and you don't have to worry about anyone or anything else." I told him.

"Yes, I could just stand to be in the same place as the person who nearly tried to ruin us. She and my mother had gone to extreme lengths to try to separate us. I won't allow them to have a foothold in our relationship ever again. I just want to focus on the woman I love." My breath caught in my throat.

"What?" He looked deeply into my eyes and I could see clearly as day exactly what his eyes were telling me. The lips could tell pretty lies but the eyes never hide anything.

"I love you, Elena Rosalie Williams. I love you so much that it hurts to breathe without you. You own every last part of me, you have occupied every last inch of my heart. I didn't know it before but you were the one missing pieces in my life. My life is incomplete without you in it."

Tears were already dropping from my eyes before he could finish. I never thought I would be the one to cry happy tears but here I was, sobbing like a baby.

Feeling confident, I climbed into my mate's lap and laid my head in the crook of his neck. His arms circle tightly around my waist and he kisses my forehead. He used his thumb to draw a gently soothing circle on my back.

"I love you, Bernard George Joseph." His movement stilled and he pulled back slightly, causing me to remove my head and look into his eyes.

"What?" I smiled.

"I love you, Bernard. I have loved you from the very first moment I saw you. I haven't had the easiest past and I have lost a lot of peace because of it but you make it better. You give me peace that I haven't felt in years. You made all the bad seem good and you make everything worth it. I know that as long as I have you by my side, I can do anything. You made me better and brought out the very best version of me. I love you." He was still for a moment and then his face split into a bright smile.

"Say it again." I laughed softly, bringing my forehead against his.

"I love you Bernard with all my heart and all that I am."

"I love you too." I closed my eyes, relishing the feeling of this moment.

"Elena?" He called and I pulled away so I could look into his eyes.

"There has been something that I have been wanting to do for a while now with you." I felt my heart thud in my chest.

His lips came crashing down onto mine in a heart-stopping and toe-curling kiss that had me feeling delirious.
