Chapter 131: We Stand With You
Chapter 131: We Stand With You
Elena
The sun streamed through the window, awakening me. I felt Bernard's large hand draped over me, I allowed myself a few more seconds to revel in his warmth.
Today is the day that I am going to speak to my people. I had spoken to the members of the Crescent Wolf Pack and now it is time to attend to those who had been the Silver Crest Pack. I don't want them to feel like prisoners, I wanted them to integrate themselves into this Pack.
I started pulling away from Bernard but as I stood up, he tightened his hold on my waist and pulled me towards him. He nuzzled his nose into the crook of my neck and breathed in my scent.
"Bernard, I need to go." I tried to pry myself out of his hold but he held onto me tighter.
"Bern, you know I would love to stay in bed with you all day but I need to go. I will see you later today when we have a meeting with your parents."
He groaned into my neck, causing sweet tingles to shoot all over my body. He loosened his arms so I could escape, I climbed out of the and made my way to the bathroom. Yesterday made me realize that life is too short and so unpredictable. If you wanted to do something or say something, then you needed to do it while you still had time.
I had asked Bernard to fasten our wedding so that we could get married sooner than we expected but we hadn't reached an agreement yet. I dismissed the topic because we were still mourning and it wasn't the best time to have such a conversation but I will bring it up again tonight when things are more settled.
I let the water trickle down my body enjoying the warmth and soothing it brought my body. Physically, my body was still good through the after-effects of the fighting I had done on the battlefield. I stepped out of the shower, got dressed, and met Bernard sitting at the edge of the bed. He was still in his pajamas and his chest was left bare and exposed. I would never get tired of looking at his body, this man was a walking work of art. It was unfair how sexy he was.
"Is everything okay?" I walked towards the walk-in closet and I heard him following me.
"Yes."
I turned around to face him, he stood at the entrance of the closet leaning against the door frame looking good enough to eat. I had to remind myself often that this man was mine and he had chosen to love me.
"What do you mean, yes?"
He pushed off the side of the door and walked towards me with that boyish grin playing on his lips. He stopped a few feet in front of me and pulled me into his chest. I placed my hand on his bare chest and I could feel his frantic heartbeat under my palms. I looked at him, confused.
"Are you nervous?"
"More excited than nervous, I had to think over what you said and I don't want to wait any longer than we need. I want to be bound to you in every way possible whether it be physically or legally." Joy radiated out of my chest, was he saying what I thought?
"I want to get married now, Elena. How does the next two weeks sound?"
"Perfect," I beamed.
"I have waited for what has felt like a lifetime for you, Bernard. I don't want to wait any longer."
He lifted me into the air and spun us around, I let out happy giggles, my chest filling with so much joy and love. I was floating on cloud nine and no one was going to be able to bring me down. He put me down and captured my lips in a gentle kiss that had my inside doing summersaults. Kissing him somehow always felt like the first time. He pulled away and had a megawatt smile that I was sure matched mine.
"Go deal with your people, I will meet you for lunch with our parents. Looks like we have a wedding to plan."
"Yes, we do."
He stared at me for a little while before his phone started buzzing and he had to attend to his own business. There was a frustrated look on his face after he dropped the call.
"What is wrong?"
"Apparently, Nicholas's father has been badgering Jasper so that I speak with him."
"What does he want?"
"Probably his son's release." He scoffed.
"But that will never happen, either way, I need to go and sort out these issues. I will see you at lunch." He kissed my forehead.
"I love you,"
"I love you too," he dashed out of the house.
Just when I thought our problems were all over, I was reminded of old ones that were popping up again and discovering new ones that were just beyond the horizon.
I made my way to the meeting hall where I had asked the people from the Silver Crest Pack to be placed. To say I was nervous was an understatement, I had essentially stolen them from their pack and forced them to be here but I wanted them to know they weren't prisoners. I wanted to give them the freedom to choose, they didn't need to stay here if they didn't want to. Bernard had ordered two warriors to look after me but I don't think it is needed.
"If you two walk in with me you may cause some of their tension to flare up. Why don't you guys stay out here and allow me to go in alone? If something happens, I will scream or something." They exchanged looks with one another.
"As you wish, Luna." One of them said.
I stepped into the meeting hall and saw them sitting on the front benches, their heads turned in my direction. I couldn't get a read on any of them, a skill I was sure Richard had taught them. I walked up to the stage but stopped when I was on the stairs. I didn't want to be above them when speaking to them. I wanted to be level with them so they didn't see me as someone who was yet again trying to control and conquer them.
I made myself comfortable on the stairs and looked at all the faces before me.
"I know many of you have questions and I am ready and willing to answer them all. But first, I would like the opportunity to speak." They all remained silent.
"First, I just want to let you all know that none of you here are prisoners. I had to use the paralysis serum so that none of you would be lost in the battle. I wanted to end the bloodshed that Richard had started." I took a deep breath in, I just needed to speak from the heart.
"I want to give you all the opportunity to choose whether or not you want to be here. As most of you know or have heard, I am the Luna of this Pack, my mate is Alpha Bernard. I am not only the Luna of this Pack but I am also your lawful Alpha. My bloodline is the true bloodline that is meant to rule Silver Crest Pack."
I could see the confusion so I explained everything from the very beginning. By the time I finished, there were many shocked faces.
"Was Richard never our true Alpha?" A woman asked.
"No, he wasn't and he knew this which was why he has sent you all out here to try and take me. He didn't want to mate me because he wanted me, he only wanted to mate with me in order to steal my powers and legitimize his claim to rule the pack."
I could hear a few low growls, they weren't directed at me, they were directed at the man I had killed.
"I am welcoming you all into this Pack, you have the chance to make Crescent Wolf Pack your new home. Here you will be treated fairly and equally, and you will be given the respect that you deserve as wolves and as humans but if you choose to leave then that is okay too. I understand some of you may need a day or two to think it over. We will see again when you all have decided." I wanted to stand up but the woman who had asked questions stood up too.
"We don't need a few days to think about it, Luna. I think I speak for every single one of us, we want to be here. You are our true Alpha and we will follow wherever you go." Every single one of them nodded their heads in agreement.
"We stand with you, Luna."
Today was off to a magnificent start already, I only prayed that it would continue like this.
